They make some really nice, pretty soft sounds when walking around together and content. I miss that sound since the last of my guineas died. Had em for 10 years, slept in trees. Just showed up one day and decided to stay.
Hi there! Where did you have them, are you from a warm climate? I’m wondering if they can stay outside overnight since in our winters the temperature is often freezing
@@NicoleEivissaHey, I know it's pretty late, but to answer your question: No. They are originally from Africa, and thus despite being pretty hardy birds, they can not tolerate freezing temprature or much snow. Shelter them at those times.
I have a love-hate relationship with that sound. I really like the noises they make when they're just hanging out. A soft cooing. If that's what you heard first instead of the main call you're in for a surprise
I have 16 4 month old Guinea hens I know they make a lot of noise but so do cars trucks, dogs , planes and a lot of stuff but they are great fun to watch and my dogs love the tasty treats they leave behind. I like my birds better than most people I have met .
Only difference than a car is they dont stop that racket, where as a vehicle passes by once in a while but they're no where near as noisy. (neighbor farmer had a bunch and they'd always come into my yard and scratch everything up)
My Dad said old-timers who made moonshine usually kept a flock of guineas near their still, and called them revenuer birds. They would alert the moonshiner that someone was coming around the still. The still might get busted up, but the moonshiner could get away without being seen. A revenue man might sneak up on a guard dog, but not a flock of guinea fowl.
100% true. They are better watchdogs than dogs. They see ANYTHING out of place, THEY ALL SOUND THE ALARM. I can hear them in the house even though they're 60 feet away.
they do calm down after you've had them for a while. they make great watch dogs..I find that if mine are being extra noisy it's for a reason..other animals in the yard that don't belong, hawks flying over, cars coming down the drive way
I feel bad for the people who live near you, we have some across the street and they keep us up, they give us headaches, and they never shut up ever!!! Nonstop 24/7
They shouldn't bee kept in city or village area. The owner enjoys the eggs, the meat and they garden cleaning activity. Neighbours just suffer from the sound..
My guys knew the UPS guy & the mail lady, so they never squawked or ran when they came. Over the years they could tell a familiar truck/person (oil company) from a new, unfamiliar truck/person. I have a flag lot (long straight driveway) When I came home they’d see my car and run up the driveway towards i, then run alongside. They were so happy I was home. Millet seed time! They knew the difference between my car & my husband & son’s car. They were like dogs that way.
It wasn't guineafowl you heard if you heard a wild bird in Idaho... They have to be sheltered in winter, I raise them here in Washington and it's barely warm enough. They come from Africa originally. Not really good in the cold Idaho winter.
@@demokratiaperemoje we always called them that. Very similar call. Waha range outside of Lewiston Idaho. Mission Creek to pinpoint a location. It was a friends property but all he had on it was 500+ head of steer.
Man when I was little on the farm this fowl was a target for me to try and catch everyday and everyday he did Barry Sanders juke moves on me and kept hollering.
I have four of them they're the best guard dogs you ever have being there guineas but they're very good about keeping the yard free of snakes mice they were just about to eat anything that moves like that or try to kill it they're very good at it. efficient when they're in a group like that
TRUE STORY: I live in North Central Florida on 9 acres, and Green Tree Frogs like to hang around. When the rain rolls in, they start calling. My Guinea is weird, because it thinks it a chicken, it was raised with chickens and it won’t do anything that guineas actually do, like it does not fly high at all. It also gets freaked out when his chicks are away from him. It’s kinda funny
my god .. who told you that? the guineas we had in missouri had other calls in addition to these. a LOUD single screech that would launch you out of your bed in the middle of the night. like no sound i have ever heard before. never during the day. we had so many complaints, we had to give them away. incredible insect eaters though if you have a garden and can put up with the screeching.
They sound a lot like wild turkeys, I remember the farmer across the road from where I turkey hunt had some and they used to confuse the heck out of me.
@GuineaFowlTV hello I was wondering if I could use your footage for an educational school assignment revolving around these birds? I would credit you in the video of course.
Andreas Menz in a way, they will normally call for 3 reasons, danger call (predator or strange visitor), to call their mate and to state a claim to territory
moved onto 5 acres in eastern CO where there are rattlesnakes... Many friends have told me to get these creatures and that they will corner snakes and drive them off. Can anyone validate how successful that may be? I can live with the noise if it means my dogs or children don't get bit (again).... TID
Please I have a question, Can a guinea flow still lay eggs and hatch if the feathers are peal off or cut constantly ? (peal off or cut so that thay won't fly away) Thanks for your answer.

Those are the most annoying and dumb creatures on earth. If you leave them out in a downpour they look up to see whats hitting them in the head and they drown themselves.. Im not joking either I use to watch them drown in the rain in the back yard as a little kid and would have to try and run them back into the barn.. hhahah
I have 3 guinea fowls and my dad says they are smart XD. I dont understand. They get scared of every move i make and they start making those loud noises
I love it when I’m mowing the lawn and then 20 minutes later they finally choose to freak out over the lawnmower
Lmaooo this the realest thing ever.. after it gets shut off and everything
Maybe theyre excited because mowed lawn means easier to eat bugs.

Excellent guard dogs at night..lol. they let you know if something's afoot
They seem to take one deep breath and then can chirp for 30 minutes without any pause whatsoever. Same for pot racking hens.
This is great, you've got a fantastic location. Love the pine trees, not to mention the magnificent bird!
Amazing birds
They're so cute
Mine made a couple of noises the best way to describe it is think of the noise you would least like to hear at 5 am
Very beautiful
I just caught a tick lacking on my dog after a walk. I'm about to go full FBI Interrogator on this little bug.

Everyone’s calling them watchdogs, but they’re guard dogs! In groups they eat snakes, good to have in a chicken yard for rat snakes!
such Fowl language lol
Only a bullet can catch a guinea in the daytime, but they’ll almost let you run over them with the lawn mower. For them, that is feast time.
Thank you , now l know that I have one male and four females
So CUTEEEE they have fluffy feathers and such a small head Its SO CUTEEEEE EEEEE I love guinee fowl!!!
Cute and funny and irritating all in one go😁
I love the polka dots plummage
