What an athlete!!!
In Gee Chun is so so close to winning tournaments, a lot of tournaments….she’ll get there.
She's already won 14 tournaments....including 2 LPGA majors, and 4 tournaments considered Majors in Asia. I have watched her since she was a rookie. I have talked to her, met her coach, talked to her caddies... My guess is that she will not win another tournament with a strong field. She might catch a weak field at some tournament where the big names are skipping. I love In Gee. She is a great person, and quality person, humble, sweet. That is, incidentally, part of her problem. You will notice that others like Jin Young Ko, Nelly Korda, Daniel Kang....are a bit more competitive. In Gee's biggest issue is her length. She does not drive the ball that far. When she tries to, she loses accuracy, and there you go. She had made minor changes in her equipment, swing...without tampering with that beautiful swing. But her length has her hitting longer approach shots = fewer birdies. And at the typical LPGA tournament...on the manicured courses they play on, it takes 20 under to win. In Gee can't do that. You will notice, she was RIGHT THERE in this past tournament...and, again, could not get it done. Jin Young Ko birdie 6 or her last 7 holes to win. In Gee? Wonderful woman. Great golfer. But time has passed her by now.
@@PaulDePace I see what you’re seeing. I can only hope she can pull it off, even without a strong field. But I’m cheering for her regardless. She’s such a good ambassador for this game.
Thanks for the REPLY "T".... Yeah, I will stick to what I said above. Wow. In Gee came close this last tournament. I could go on-and-on about In Gee...so I will. Read at your own risk!
Jin Young Ko really never got it going in the first 3 rounds of this last tournament, but was still right there. After a luke-warm front nine on the final day, Jin Young was showing signs of waking up. In Gee and Lee6 just couldn't put Jin Young away, as they should have... Still, they were close, especially after Jin Young Ko missed that 3-par green and them fluffed her chip and left it on the fringe. Bogey. Door more than open for In Gee and Lee6 with that.
Then, I think on the 16th (short 5-par)? In Gee hit that rescue club that was unreal. It was actually pretty much going in the hole for a double-eagle, perfectly on-line, just a little short of perfection. But she lips out the putt for eagle.... She KNEW, in her heart of hearts, that was it. In Gee gets three or four looks on her face that she gets; she gave one of them to her caddie as she walked away with a tap-in birdie. Then Jin Young Ko just did what she does...win. Wow. Isn't Jin Young Ko something right now? She is the closest thing to Tiger Woods we have seen, male or female. Something else. Lee6 broke down on the final hole, holding back tears. In Gee, I give her credit, knew she had to go for that tough pin. Her caddie (who caddies for her sometimes in Asia, and caddied for her at the U.S Open when she won (Australian, Dean Herden) probably insisted she go for it. Which was the right call. She has pushed her drive into the first cut of rough, not good. But she needed a birdie. In Gee flew the green into a tough lie, and that was pretty much it. Lee6 bladed her sand shot, and chilly dipped her chip. It was over when Jin Young floated that birdie putt down there just for good measure. I DID NOTE that In Gee made her putt for a 4. Not easy. You are losing the tournament. You are KNOWN for missing these kinds of putts. But she snuck the putt, which was trying to get away, in the right side of the hole (finally getting a little break) and that probably made her an extra $50,000 for the tie for second vs. tie for 3rd.
So, last week...In Gee got to the top of the mountain. But not into the Promised Land. And with all the KLPGA girls who are new, even older, hungry, all of them to beat every week? At a typical tournament (not all the way over in SIngapore) with a short(er) field? Another win for In Gee? It does not look good. In Gee? I like to say that "In Gee is an angel, who also just happens to be a professional golfer."
@@PaulDePace Yes there is something about In Gee that makes her very enjoyable to watch. I suspect she will have a chance to win, albeit on a shorter course. Perhaps not in a Major layout but who knows. I wish her all the best.
@@PaulDePace Hmmm..ever think she's just fine with touring the world, playing the fabulous game of golf, and averaging USD $800k in earnings over the past 6 years? Dream job, if you ask me.

Any time you can make 11 birdies in a round, it's got to be a Mickey mouse golf course. How about the Arnold Palmer. Best golfers in the world lucky to break par.
According to Rory, it's the Arnold Palmer that was a 'mickey mouse-trap' setup. In Rory's words, the setup was flawed in that it didn't reward quality shots.
Sometimes you have to dig a little further into the numbers.
