How to Use Electrify on Pokemon Showdown with some Toxic Salt

- I'm sorry for the lack of Pokemon Showdown uploads, but this Pokemon Showdown video project file somehow corrupted at around 90% completion which made me very salty, so I had to somehow motivate myself to re-edit like 8 hours worth of effort for this video, but enough feeling sorry for myself. Today we have another installment of Pokemon Showdown Salt! I attempted to make the unique move Electrify which only Boltund and Heliolisk learn have a use in battle which made some toxic Pokemon Showdown players salty lol. I think Electrify is an extremely under utilized move and not looked at enough, especially with the lightning rod combo on Gigantamax Pikachu, the recent addition of the move Rising Voltage in Isle of Armor, and some thinking outside the box, you can pull off some really cool techs with Electrify and completely turn the tide of a battle if used correctly.

I just got to appreciate the fact that Dragapult has both Eject Pack and Clear Body. So it only activates its item when it uses Draco Meteor.
Eject Pack with Clear Body looks redundant af but it's also a big brain play.

idk how anyone could call this a gimmick when you realize more than half of weedle's team benefits immensely from having a sweeper's dmg turned into a typing they either resist, negate, or outright benefit from

it's actually a great teamcheck. might not be a "good" gimmick but it's definitely not bad when it mitigates a lot of the threat that gmax brings to the table

“OH NO, CHARIZARD!” never gets old
Why do these people dismiss fun strategies as "gimmicks"? Pokemon is a game, you're supposed to have fun. If all you're doing is copying the same old OU Smogon strats and getting angry when you lose, why even bother playing?
A gimmick only works under certain circumstances so it's not suited to get to the top in a competitive setting. The joke is that none of the players who complain about Weedle's strats are anywhere near the top anyway.
Meta strats are so boring anyways and as a casual player I've stopped playing OU. I don't have the time/desire to team build, and use some semi stall balance squad. I know that's true at least for singles. No idea about doubles.
@@seeibe I got to 1500+ in doubles ou 7 gen with what could be considered a gimmick. Though it was the perfect storm really. Mega Charizard Y to set sun with chlorophyll venusaur to use grass pledge+fire pledge. The pledge moves function as a 150 power move with the type that was used second, so I was basically hitting with a fire type hyper beam under sun every turn that basically burned the whole opposing team for 3 turns. It hit hard enough to OHKO a Landorus and because it goes by which pokemon is faster (in this case a chlorophyll venusar) it outsped them too.

Oddly enough I fought a buddy who used fairy terrain to prevent my Guts Flame Orb Konk from getting burned.
I haven’t considered how useful terrains are until that point.
I ended changing my whole move set cause of that battle. 😅
I've made plays like that before in randoms, it's situational but really funny when it works.

Holy shit actually one of the most well-utilised tactics. Things he did that were 1000 IQ:
- Electrify opponent to have resisted hit on Boltund and Dragopult and immunity for Pikachu and Runegrigus
- Electrify max Pokemon (his and opponents) to set up Electric Terrain for Rising Voltage and avoiding sleep from Yawn
- Stall out opponent's max move with the resisted and immune hits
- Electrify Dragopult to OHKO Braviary

No its a relatively common thing to do in front of an amoongus for that exact reason

Important to note you can't use electrify if you have a lightning rod pokémon out because it'll absorb the electrify. You need to have the Mold Breaker ability on your electrify mon to avoid that

@@Gr4ceful4life Mold Breaker ignores abilities. So Boltund having mold breaker and using electrify lets it ignore lightning rod when it would otherwise not work.

Love the editing jobs on these videos. I tend to find a lot of pokemon battles uncompelling but the way you put everything together with the well timed soundbites and vids really completes the whole package.

Was not expecting the Duraludon to KO Pikachu in the second battle. I know this is the least important part of the video but I'm still surprised.
