I love "Land of the Lustrous", as it shows so many things: 1) Searching for your own satisfaction in other people is detrimental in itself as it will only cause you pain 2) Growth means change and comes always at a high cost 3) Our own actions have an impact on the people around us. We need to take responsibility on our deeds but cannot take it for the actions other people do
I love this anime with my whole heart. The music is hauntingly beautiful and couldn't communicate the feel of the show more, the animation is one of the most gorgeous things I've ever laid my eyes on, the characters and their dynamics and relationships are absolutely endearing, and the message with Phos's changes throughout the story is clever and thoughtful and NNNNNNNNNNN

That would've changed everything, Cinnabar wanted a new fun enjoyable job, if Phos stopped her track of being childish right there then the two of them could've had a beautiful friendship, maybe the things wouldn't ended up so bad fir Phos if she only asked for help at that moment, change is good only if it's healthy, her change wasn't healthy because she wants to do everything by herself, the others are side casualties for her.... honestly at the scene where phos was running to the lunarians with cracks and was crumbling just to try saving her, even though no matter how hard she tried she could not save him, i felt that, it really hurts seeing phos grow because **manga spoilers** phos is human, and seeing how she changes reminds me of how we change, sometimes the changes are good but even if we get what we want we will always lose something. it hurts. i miss antarcticite.

1:51 is probably my favourite shot in the entire series. A haunting comparison between phos of old and phos of new. It forces you to step back and truly think about how much phos has developed as a character in JUST 12 EPISODES - It doesn’t even cover any of Phos’ development in the manga. A real slap in the face.

This anime changed me and I will forever be upset that they didn't make the second season. The music is absolutely beautiful and the animation was unique, and the characters were amazing. It was perfect.

Fast forward 'cuz too lazy (can someone explain the departure/leaving to Phos' home,) he plans on raiding the home he used to live in, and go to sensei ask him to kindly pray. •NOW Now, for the comment to what it's referring to. What it's trying to say, Phos was being repaired by Kongou-sensei, while half way through phos interrupted about fixing himself, then forced sensei to pray (for various reasons.) But also seeing and looking at Phos now, he's no longer himself. He has hit rock bottom, he has lost lots of friends/comrades and he looks like a monster and wants him to keep praying.
Well good thing is Antarcticite is alive, BUT PHOS IS FOREVER ALONE FOR 10 THOUSAND YEARS after he kills everyone, and he has to wait b4 he can use sensei's powers
Spoiler Sad to see how the series might end. I kinda wanted Ms Ichikawa to draw it out a bit more but considering the 7 Buddhist treasures, but there might be a few more chapters. Imo hard to see another book coming out considering the 21 minutes they have left

Let's make this even more bittersweet with the release of the final chapter. -SPOILERS- Can someone make an animatic using this orchestral version with the last scenes with Phos' piece turning into a comet and then as the suspense builds, it pans throughout deep space and at 0:43 it shows all of the characters, gems, lunarians, and admirabilis doing their own things as new beings, void of their memories, for all of them to see Phos' comet fly across the sky, making their days brighter, while having Cinnabar be the last character and watching it alone. (I'd have Cinnabar start tearing in happiness, not knowing why it makes him* feel such a way.)
*Manga Spoilers* Phos with Lapis' head is probably my favorite MC transformation ever. Something about it is just so cool to me. I wish there was an alternate storyline where she stayed like that, and the Earth gems actually listened to what she had to say before smashing her to bits.
I dont know if season 2 still on process. but it must be really hurt for the animators and artist to drawing and animating this next season of our precious gem.
1:51 I'm starting to miss Phos' former snaily self (Phos is also a genus for sea snails), but their loss of fragments and innocence gradually turned them into a gem monster (and much worse than the corrupted Gems from Steven Universe).

Phos with Lapis' head is probably my favorite MC transformation ever. Something about it is just so cool to me. I wish there was an alternate storyline where she stayed like that, and the Earth gems actually listened to what she had to say before smashing her to bits.

I dont know if season 2 still on process. but it must be really hurt for the animators and artist to drawing and animating this next season of our precious gem.
most of their time had spent on building models since this all characters and animation are cgi. it took them years to finish all season 1 models

It's an amazing anime. Watch it! It's very similar to the history, and have an amazing animation.
I would say that its the best looking anime ever in my opinion. The style is unique the camera work is 10/10 and the ost is perfect.

1:51 I'm starting to miss Phos' former snaily self (Phos is also a genus for sea snails), but their loss of fragments and innocence gradually turned them into a gem monster (and much worse than the corrupted Gems from Steven Universe).
