Very good teardown. Those photodiodes in it are large area Si PIN type detectors. You could use them with a large CsI:Tl crystal to make a highly sensitive radiation detector. The device itself is built very similar to a cesium vapor magnetometer. In that the only difference is the cells are heated, other than that the electronics are very similar ❤
Very high. It is a very large Si PIN type photodiode with a guard electrode so it can be operated at much higher voltages than normal. The bond wires in the one probably blew like a fuse when the coupling capacitor failed 😢
