I'm exhausted watching you. Great job, I'm in Alabama as well so, I'm thinking I'll just have to buy a new one and buy jugs of water to refill mine with mainly because mine is 3 years old. Unless you want to come fix mine?
Yes I did, but if it's grinding, you may need to do a couple of prolonged decalcification cycles before it binds up and shears off the shaft. Get this descaler and run it on the clean cycle a few times and then let it sit for 18 hrs minimum: a.co/d/eUkdPkX Then clean it out. Do this 2 times. Get rid of all that mineral scale or it's gonna bind up and shear the input shaft or break the gearbox. Use distilled water for ice making from now on and you should be good👍
I cleaned mine and now the gear does not even turn. My problem originally was the fan on the left had slipped a little so I’m guessing the cog was grinding and making really bad noise. When I put it back together the ice spindle that pushes up ice is not turning. Any idea?
Anyone have a recommendation for the gasket where the bottom of the auger rests? I had a deep clean with calcium buildup and cleaned so hard the gasket is leaking…
Where did you find the seal for the auger. I have one that pours water. I'm thinking maybe that's my Issue with my Opel Ice Maker. Would I need any other seal or gasket to install so It wouldn't leak. Thanks for this.
The seal is probably leaking for 1 of 3 reasons: 1) it's actually damaged, 2) there's minerals or other debris on the sealing surface that needs to be removed, or 3) it's installed upside down. The flat surface should be down. Don't know where or how to order this seal. Lemme know if you find it
You wouldn’t consider making a shaft for a kfriend In Georgia would you? I have mine out buy do not have a means to produce the shaft. I was consider wielding the broken piece back.
How did you get the Black part off? Mine is doing the same thing. I have taken it all apart but can’t figure out how to take the black park off to see if that’s the problem. Do you have to put the spray form back in side under the black casing?
I have not taken mine apart but it seems to be the same problem. I also read comments and sounds like it’s not possible to order that part to replace it. I don’t have the ability to make my own piece like you did. Am I SOL? Do you think I’ll have to get a service guy out to fix it?
The gearbox can be removed by first removing the auger, disconnecting the motor from the circuit board and then removing the Allen bolts connecting the cylinder to the gearbox and then the gearbox to the chassis. Lift up gently on the cylinder to clear the drive shaft and pull the gearbox out. You can then split the gearbox to inspect for issues
I put Vaseline on the bottom and top of the shaft. All the hoses were clogged with crusty flakey mineral deposits. I cleared them up with a straw cleaner
Thanks for the excellent explanation!

Your video has helped me a lot! Mine makes grinding noises that come from that ice making section, did you put any lubricant in the bot of that shaft?

@Chris Lawson you may have a stripped gear in the gearbox, or the shaft is sheared like mine was from scale buildup
Hi! Mine is leaking from underneath the motor housing; is that also where yours was leaking from too??

My machine makes ice but only a small amount and at a very slow rate. What do you think is wrong with it mechanically?
Incredibly helpful, thankyou

I have the same question. This silly ice machine is a pain in the butt. But I do love me some nugget ice.

How did you get the gear out of the unit. I have one that has done the same thing looks like getting the gear unit out is gonna be difficult.
Hyd press

How doe I get the auger out
Would you fix ours if we brought it to you? We live in Huntsville
Do you no how to order that part that u created? I think that’s same thing wrong with mine
Sorry I don't know where to order it. That's why I had to make one on my lathe. Let me know if you find one
