  • Watch this video to see which size and format of Hermes scarf offers the best value for the money. Given the recent price increases, I will look at twenty of the more popular scarf sizes and formats, including scarves from the men’s and the women’s collections. All calculations are per square inch in US dollars based on current prices published online at Hermes.com as of March 2023.
    My avatar is wearing a 90 cm silk twill called En Liberte by Carine Brancowitz.

      Some of my favorite scarves are from the men’s side of the house 🤩

    I found this very fascinating! From a business perspective one would think the cost increase would be consistent across the board. I’m sure it takes almost as much work or more on smaller items, so I am not surprised to see that there is a large discrepancy in the cost per square inch. Thanks for doing this tedious, and informative work for us!

      Thank you, Jenn! Like you, I was surprised by the varied cost increases, but I’m sure it makes sense to someone 🤭

    Thank you for crunching the numbers for us for this year. Such an interesting outcome. I’m so pleased the double face came in at number 1 because I’ve already bought two! Loving your content so much and your knotting tutorials are honestly the best I’ve seen. Repeating the knots with different size scarves really helps commit the new knot to memory. Are there any new wash scarves by the way for this season? The rumour is that they are being discontinued. I do hope not. So practical in wet weather.

      So glad you’re enjoying the channel! I haven’t seen any new wash scarf designs this season, nor have I heard anything about them being discontinued, but maybe someone in the community can chime in if they know. Thanks for your comments!

    Hi Maya. I just bought my very first Hermès scarves (I picked Le Carnaval des Animaux and Objets de Curiosite). I can now understand why these can swiftly become an obsession, as I already want more! 😬😂

      Ooh, both lovely choices, Ali! No doubt, it is a slippery slope with these scarves! 😂

    Hello Maya! I totally agree with you that doll twillys and nanos are not good value for the money. I once washed a second hand Hermès scarf in my washing machine on delicate cycle in a mesh bag as I could not get the stains out by hand washing and it came out like new. The colors were still as vibrant. I am saving my money for a 90 cm.

      Thanks for sharing!! Good to know about even the classic 90s on the delicate cycle in a mesh bag. I’m with you on saving up for the 90s. 🧡

    Hi Maya- I love your channel. My mom was an Hermes scarf collector and I inherited her collection when she died in 2008. These scarves are truly works of art and I smile and remember her every time I wear one. I've added a few to my collection and when I saw the double sided 90 Carre on your video I knew I needed one. I've also watched your scarf ring tutorials. I don't own any scarf rings but want to give it them a try. I'm hoping it's possible to tie and wear the double sided scarves showing only one side at a time. If you have any advice or tips on an upcoming video would love it. Thank you for these very informative videos!

      Aww, thank you for sharing this sweet memory of your mom. What a wonderful reminder when you wear the scarves! I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the channel and will give some thought to your question on the double sided scarves. I appreciate your comments! 🧡

    I guess we could of expected this since other companies like Chanel are increasing their prices. Thank you for a very thorough price comparison in the scarves from last year! 😊❤️

    I went looking at the newer scarves to see which I would like to buy (either a shawl or another 90 silk) and was so surprised to see the price had gone up. Ah well, it is what it is. Since I have a silk scarf, I might end up going the shawl route and seeing what comes out for fall winter in silks.

    Maya, thank you for the update! It had a sobering effect on me. I like twillies, I have one, never use it. So perhaps I shouldn´t get a new one. Other brands have twillies or bandeaus as well (Longchamp, Inouï Editions. Pucci, Gucci etc), the prices are better and the items are longer. The gavroches on the other hand are very easy to handle. The silk is so thick that you can make a nice bow and it looks puffy and nice. Personal preferences, of course! Every brand has minor size items that cost a small fortune. Of course, if you love them, buy them. If you don´t, save your money and buy something you really like. I wish you a sunny weekend! 🐩☀🌤

      So true, Suvi! I’m a firm believer that I have to really love it if I’m going to buy something. Thanks for your comments and wishing you a lovely weekend also 🥰

    Hi Maya great tips !!
    There is a reference to thickness in comments. SA in NY said it has to do with ink content. At the boutique in Frankfurt they think has to do with silk thickness which varies according to the season. Silk scarves in the last twenty years are not so thick and silk/cashmere twill is also thinner according to the boutiques, to avoid piling. Or to make more profit ?
    What do you think???? 🖐

    • @cranleyplace
      @cranleyplace  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Martha! There may be some seasonal variation, but the cynic in me tends to think that they would try to maximize profit as long as the scarves still meet their minimum weights. Your guess is as good as mine 🤔

    One question I have for you is have you found the feel of the 90 cm silk twill is sometimes different? Some seem more stiff compared to others, I am curious if you have found this too. The ones I am comparing are all purchased from an Hermes boutique.

    • @cranleyplace
      @cranleyplace  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A keen observation, Lisa! I’ve noticed this happening more recently but never put much thought to it. They all eventually relax anyways with wear, right? Thanks for your comments!
