Today, I decided to watch it again this time I completed the whole video. Your lesson has really helped me understand the problem that’s been happening in my family. Thankyou Brethren’s! God bless you both.
All of the lessons are powerful and inspiring. This one was an answer to personal pondering and praying regarding government on a large scale and familial/personal scale also. Thank you, thank you.
There is a more secular way of looking at the teachings in Mosiah 29: Rights and responsibilities. Either way it is a marvelous lesson for our day. Many today want rights without responsibility. Some are even willing to give up their rights just so they don't have to take responsibility! The interesting things about the Book of Mormon is that in Alma, the next chapter, the Lord shows us what happens when we consider relinquishing responsibility. Rights and responsibility, it is the way of the Lord. What a book!
What a find to discover your lessons. Thank you for the strength and knowledge you've added to my life. I hope all of my family will embrace the gifts you offer!
Truly enjoyed this week’s insights! It reassure that the Book of Mormon IS for OUR days! Thank you, Taylor, for the awesome job of providing the definition to these words that helps to better understand the content.
Thank you so very much for your wonderful lessons. I feel so blessed to be able to tune in and to learn so much. I really feel the spirit from these lessons, even though it's online. I am especially grateful at this time of the Covid virus, as I am the only active member in my household and so your lessons, really shore up my faith when I'm no longer able to get that from attending church. Sis Andrea Pickles
I needed this lesson today. I am struggling to keep hopeful in these times. I have been heartbroken by the hatred and violence, and it seems too many in power are intent in perpetuating it in order to continue status quo and continue to subjugate our brothers and sisters of color. I hear hate and disregard, no love or willingness to truly listen by most of our leaders. I'm not sure how the testimony at the end helped my deep sadness, but it did. Thank you.
Please know that we share the feeling of being disheartened by the hate we see throughout the world today. God made the gospel simple. Love God. Love your neighbor.
Tyler and Taylor... Thank you so much for sharing your time and insights on these videos. These discussions have helped me so much in my Book of Mormon studies. In turn, I share this information with my family. The information has been a great blessing to us.
That was really good. Made me think of current politics a bit clearer, and to weather the storm and still stand for truth and righteousness while so many others who do not know, panic and fight rather than see the truth with calmness of mind and simple, kind, giving and sturdy love and easy, rightful laws. We live in a beautiful world, and over here in Australia, we must be involved in the government if we are to see fairness and just freedom and liberty for all people, and we need to stand for our beliefs. Thank You for putting this on You Tube, and for giving of your time and resource.
Dear Tyler and Taylor, we thoroughly enjoy your weekly lessons. We are converts to the church (44 yrs ago) and have studied a lot, but we are still learning so many profound truths from your lessons that we never picked up on before. It has greatly increased our love for the Book of Mormon - and we loved it before! We refer to your lessons as "dessert" after we finish reading the assigned scriptures! We are wondering if (and hoping) you will be teaching a weekly "Come Follow Me" lesson next year...and the next...and the next. We could sure use your insights as we go through the Bible!
Thank you for these kinds words! I am a "convert" to. Baptized at age at in 1980 (born in the gospel). and like you I love learning more. We do hope to continue doing the TnT show for D&C and for Old Testament and the New Testament (I have a PhD in Old and New Testament studies....not that really qualifies me to teach the gospel, but it may help provide some contextual insights about those ancient books).
@@taylorhalverson3052 That is the BEST news we've heard all day!!! You two are such a big help in our studies. We didn't discover you until March, but loved your lessons so much, we went back to January and watched all the ones we missed! Your Easter week lesson was AMAZING, and made Easter so much more meaningful this year. We feel more confident about understanding the Bible knowing we will have you two to help us read between the lines. Sometimes we struggle to understand the archaic language and the Jewish culture, but you two help put everything in context. I've told everyone I know about your lessons! Thank you so much!

Love the name, the "TnT Show" btw...now all you need is a theme song...
Your lessons and the spirit that attends you is a blessing to me each week. Especially now that we have no Sacrament meetings at our Chapel. We do zoom meetings. Your insights are wonderful and really help me to be prepared.
During these unusual times, being unable to attend church my wife and I have enjoyed your videos. Our calling at church usually precludes us being able to attend Sunday School so this has been a blessing for us. Thank you.
Awesome presentation! I love your insights! One caveat: who's in the White House does matter. Lots of parallels in the Book of Mormon regarding corrupt kings and what we're seeing right now in our day. So thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ that helps us make sense of it all.
Dear Taylor and Tyler, thanks again for a great lesson. Loved it. We love your “Hwyl”. Welsh for energy, and emotional motivation, spirit. We try to do everything with HWYL in Wales. Best wishes. Mike🏴

Taylor Halverson th-cam.com/video/b5mqR-ehY9s/w-d-xo.html. Hi Taylor and Tyler in anticipation of your lesson today thought you might like this 1000 voice Welsh choir singing Gwahoddiad. Written by an American translated into Welsh in the 19th Century. It’s known as the “Invitiation”. The chorus is...”Lord I am coming to thee, wash me cleanse me in the blood that flows from Calvary”. Listen to the final Welsh Amen. Love this hymn.
Dear Taylor and Tyler, all your fans in Merthyr Tydfil Wales really enjoyed your lesson today June 14th. It was discussed on our Ward Facebook page. Thankyou so much. Really uplifting. 🏴🏴🏴
Some really interesting doctrines and principles in these chapters of the Book of Mormon. Thankyou so much for sharing your insights which l couldn't have seen on my own. Really enjoyed the lesson gentleman. God bless.
I did not realize that the same Gideon that tried to go after King Noah was the same one that was killed by Nehor. Love the contrast pointed out between Jesus and the Devil and how the Devil wanted all the glory but none of the suffering. Thank you for pointing out that if there were really a way to save everyone that God would have already thought of that and that was just another one of Satan’s lies.
Powerful Scripture Block today T&T Brothers !! "How to create a Society of Peace" circa 88 BC BUT how about circa 2020? The principles discussed in this Podcast are as RELEVANT today as back then. I like the quote from Hollywood's Moses (Charleton Heston) that I've quoted to my Seminary classes, "There is no freedom without the Law" and so it is for us today. BUT, as you correctly stated, "how big does the Book of Rules have to get in order for families and society to enjoy a peaceful life? The CLOSER to God we become, the fewer the rules that are needed. The Children of Israel couldn't quite catch this vision and consequently suffered as a result. We teach correct principles and let them govern themselves a famous Prophet once told us. Better to Teach and minister than to Judge and force !! BTW, I really enjoyed the quote from CS Lewis who is one of my favorites, can you get back to me WHERE that's found !! SOUND DOCTRINE. Thank you my friends !!!
Wrong animal reference. But quote is from Great Divorce. "There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him. And the higher and mightier it is in the natural order, the more demoniac it will be if it rebels. It’s not out of bad mice or bad fleas you make demons, but out of bad archangels."
I think this one is SO very well done, to help us get, from the BOM, things that should affect how we think and behave in less general ways.... I feel very strongly that this is something we should all be viewing and considering in this particular election season. Some things here seem relevant to that consideration. Of course there are other topics that are equally of great value in our personal righteous spiritual life.
As a British citizen now living in America, I have seen a profound difference in the way the man on the street thinks, how he views those in power, especially kings (in my lifetime, a queen). There is a worshipful attitude towards the monarch, a deference which seems to rob the people of good judgment and common sense. It is very interesting to see that unrighteousness has prevailed among royalty for generations. We are seeing the culmination of this today in this particular monarchy with divorces, scandal and even abandonment of royal life. During the past 50 years I have seen the goal posts shift. It was forbidden for a royal to marry a commoner up until about 1970. Now the future kings have both done that along with their siblings, including marriage to divorced people, which also was forbidden. Immoral behavior among the current royal family is now viewed as normal and sets a precedent for the rest of the country and world to follow. When I learned that Prince William had been living with his girlfriend for 9 years before they married in what the British see as a holy place with the bride dressed in pure white, I do not wonder about the words of the minister who was uniting them. Frankly I thought that the young couple looked bored and seemed uncomfortable in a house of worship. I did not watch the ceremony live even though my fellow Americans were swooning at the pageantry. It just all seemed so hypocritical. But then, they are living what they were raised with. Good people doing charitable works perhaps, but God will not be mocked. How things have changed in 70 years. In the 1950s people who had sexual relations before marriage used to go quickly and quietly to a register office (justice of the peace) and had a certain degree of shame that they did not qualify to wed in a church. Not any more!
As a uk citizen this is very true. The Royals no more lead by example (the Queen tries her best, bless her), the government are terrible examples. But the Lord knows what's in their hearts, what I've seen of William and Kate they seem to have good hearts. As the uk and most countries don't have good leaders examples to follow, we need to follow just one example and one King and that's God......as it says in Alma 4:15, He will not fail us.
Great job you guys are doing. Some questions: 1. Mosiah 21:15 "the Lord... began to soften the hearts of the Lamanites". We see this in the scriptures but just how does the Lord do this, without overriding the agency of the individual? 2. In the marvelous King Benjamin chapters, why did King Benjamin never mention baptism? (unless I missed it) 3. Mosiah 25:3 where the Lamanites are mentioned as being the must numerous, and this is often mentioned in the BofM. Any thoughts as to why the Lamanites always seem to be far more numerous than the Nephites??? I know you can only cover so much each week, and the emphasis ought to be on the things we know, but I often have great interest in some of the other aspects of these wonderful scriptures which I find joy in pondering about and considering. Thanks!
1. The Lord works on us with the spirit, experiences, and memories, and we do the rest: thinking, reflecting, planning changing. He leads us to water, and we then drink :) 2. The first baptism recorded in the BOM is Mosiah 18. Before that, 2 Nephi 31 baptism is mentioned. It appears that King Benjamin's speech was modeled on the covenant God made with His people at Sinai (see Exodus 20) which did not include baptism. For more on those covenants, see my book: www.amazon.com/Covenant-Path-Bible-Book-Mormon/dp/1951341031. 3. Great question about BOM populations and demographics. Many scholars have written about this, here are a few starting points. archive.bookofmormoncentral.org/sites/default/files/archive-files/pdf/sorenson/2016-09-12/john_l._sorenson_when_lehis_party_arrived_fall_1992.pdf knowhy.bookofmormoncentral.org/knowhy/did-others-influence-book-of-mormon-peoples archive.bookofmormoncentral.org/content/i-have-question-i-have-heard-sizes-nephite-and-lamanite-populations-indicated-book-mormon-do archive.bookofmormoncentral.org/content/how-many-nephites-book-mormon-bar-demography archive.bookofmormoncentral.org/content/nephi%E2%80%99s-neighbors-book-mormon-peoples-and-pre-columbian-populations
Perhaps the evil one only has one end in mind and that is to take away the glory of God....revenge. The Lord said it is His work and glory to save us. Each one whom he can get to follow him he feels will take away His glory.
I am soaking in the lesson, feeling the truth of the material, and then Tyler says, "The forces of darkness are rill." Rill? RILL? It's pronounced, "Ree-uhl." But there's a news anchor on TV that says it the same way. She's from Idaho.
Why do people get so hung up on pronunciation? It's not like you don't know what he's saying. That's how he talks. I'm sure you and I sound pretty weird to somebody else as well. It does not matter. Enjoy the message.
Melanie: Ree-uhlY? I'm surprised that you keep watching our videos when you are so offended by our pronunciation. :) I bet God's bothered with us too! Ha ha.
What about Alma 1:27..."And they did impart of their substance, every man according to that which he had, to the poor, and the needy, and the sick, and the afflicted; and they did not wear costly apparel, yet they were neat and comely. Or verse 30:..."And thus, in their prosperous circumstances, they did not send away any who were naked, or that were hungry, or that were athirst, or that were sick, or that had not been nourished; and they did not set their hearts upon riches; therefore they were liberal to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, whether out of the church or in the church, having no respect to persons as to those who stood in need." That's pretty much all you need to know about how the government should be run...
Thank you for this video! I have a question, because I am curious, so would it be better if the law provides options in order for our agency to be used even if we are against it? For example, if abortion was legalised, would that be considered as best?
Great question and a difficult question. What we have to ask ourselves is how much of our morality do we legislate on others who may not share our moral view points. If I make someone live as I want them to live, am I contributing to freedom and agency? Difficult problem to consider. Agency always exists, but at different levels. Plus there are consequences for how we use our agency. In the secular realm, there are man-made laws with consequences regarding abortion. In terms of God's laws, He has established other expectations and consequences regarding abortion. Though we know that modern leaders acknowledge cases where it may be admissible. Again, great question that requires a longer conversation.
So if Nehor was asking for money for substance and living costs and we deem this as evil compared to Alma the Younger who took no monies. How is it that we have leaders today that require church funds provided by the saints for their living? I realise we are a global entity but this practice became entrenched early in the church. How could prophets of old maintain their livelihoods but we can't?
Alma had sufficient for his needs because of the amount of pay that he received as a Chief Judge. He likely then saved up and lived off of those savings to finance his missions. If you consider our modern day church leaders THEY CONSECRATE EVERYTHING to the kingdom of God and then they receive back according to their needs. That is a gospel principle we all agree to but none of us (except Church leaders) actually live. Furthermore, most of the Church leaders have donated far more money and time to the cause then they will ever see returned to them. Hope that helps.
@@taylorhalverson3052 a couple of things here. Are we sure that Alma had sufficient monies? How much did a Judge get paid? Was he even paid or did Alma not want recompense for serving the Lord? I think more likely that Alma worked both in his career and volunteered his time to serving the Lord as we read of no prophets being paid in their callings. I think they probably acted like Bishops of today in a lay ministry. It's just interesting that the presenters go through this comparison of Nehor and Alma and how Nehor seeks recompense which the lesson points out to be of the devil. I do get that the brethren consecrate themselves, but does that mean they should be paid? Ancient prophets also consecrated themselves and often we see them being lead to homes where for a time they are looked after physically and not financially. Have we turned the gospel of redeeming souls into a business? I had never thought of it this way until this lesson was given. Maybe like Alma our leaders could hold regular jobs (chief judge / civic officer) and be church leaders. Or consecrate as they do to the Lord but live according to what the saints give and truly having no script or purse. I see no account where Jesus asked or recieved payment as like Judas, however I'm sure Jesus found means and ways of surviving in his career as a carpenter.
I am stuck by the irony that we (current US citizenry) seem to be constantly clamoring for more and more laws to be written up and enacted. We want to offload personal responsibility to our civil leaders. Government becomes more powerful yet we ask for them to do ever more. Hubris and pride seem at an all time high. There seems to be a direct relationship between more laws and more lawlessness. It’s refreshing to see things from a scriptural perspective. We must learn from those lessons. History may not always repeat itself but at least it rhymes.
th-cam.com/video/tIl57cchRqs/w-d-xo.html Watch this to understand the proper role of government. This should be shared with students from about 14 years up. Our youth are not being taught the proper role of government which is to PROTECT our God-given rights but NOT to PROVIDE handouts to citizens...such as food, housing, education, subsidies, etc. Our children are being taught that socialism is good...which it certainly is not! Government needs to be limited (as spelled out in our Constitution), not unlimited.
Tyler, I believe the doctrine Devil is outlined by the three antichrists which have a common theme of being saved in your sins rather than being saved from your sins. The Plan of God allowing us to become like of Father, the author of the plan versus an easier plan where there is no law and no consequence for our actions. Lehi uses the logic that if there is no law there is not God. By destroying God, Lucifer becomes the author of the alternative plan where we don't have the mortal experience and we never achieve the lofty heights of being like our Father, but we don't have to suffer the difficulties of mortality. The antichrist teaching the same doctrine where Lucifer continues to take the place of God by proposing a plan that allows us to become like him, the author of the alternative plan. Just my take on this issue.
All of these BOM prophets are always depicted as being ripped!!! I wonder if it's from daily lifting of the brass plates? See...the scriptures really do strengthen you! Also, what are your thoughts on the meaning of "wonderful contention?" that phrase kinda confused me...thanks!
ha ha ha! I love the thought. Wonderful in its purest sense means "full of wonder" meaning there was so much contention people were full of wonder at its breadth and depth. Does that help?

Good evening from Northern Ireland. On behalf of myself and my wife a million thanks for all that the both of you do in expounding and explaining scriptures from the Book of Mormon. You highlight how poor my scripture study was, in a good way this is after me having being a member since baptism in 1966. I hope you dont mind but I make notes on my tab in Gospel library in order to re read and possibly use in talks etc. Can I ask one favour, you take quotes from CS Lewis and others, I.e Elder Ballard. Can you tell us where they are exactly? I have found many of the quotes but there are some I cannot find. E.g CS Lewis, Angel's and rats! Keep up the great work Nick and Caron Shaw
Thanks for the happy note Nick from beautiful Northern Ireland! I followed up with Tyler on the CS Lewis quote and here is what we have: "There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him. And the higher and mightier it is in the natural order, the more demoniac it will be if it rebels. It’s not out of bad mice or bad fleas you make demons, but out of bad archangels.” This quote comes from The Great Divorce.

I am especially grateful at this time of the Covid virus, as I am the only active member in my household and so your lessons, really shore up my faith when I'm no longer able to get that from attending church. Sis Andrea Pickles
This has been our hope, that these resources would strengthen and reinforce faith and help more people to feel God's love.
I love these guys. I’d recommend their channel to everyone.
Thank you Natalie!
Thank you for your help to understand.
I appreciate the information that is clear and consistent throughout scriptures. 🌄🙏
Awesome!
Beautiful!
Thank you for giving your time to watch and share and for standing for truth!
True and the people need to respect those trying to enforce just laws and not resist .
My family and I have loved watching things lessons. Thank you.
Thanks for spending time with us!
@@taylorhalverson3052 "Oh I have a PhD in Old and New Testament studies but I don't think it qualifies me" Taylor, I've seen your website and your credentials and you are incredibly modest and humble about your accomplishments and that's what makes you an amazing teacher and that alone qualifies you!
Love the name, the "TnT Show" btw...now all you need is a theme song...
Thank you for this feast of eternal truths that both of you share with us.
The Gospel is so beautiful!

Your lessons and the spirit that attends you is a blessing to me each week. Especially now that we have no Sacrament meetings at our Chapel. We do zoom meetings. Your insights are wonderful and really help me to be prepared.
Thanks for your love of the gospel!

Yes, we would agree with you...though with the nuance that ultimately the only thing we can control is our choice to live as God has taught us.
Again, beautifully done. What a difference it makes to see all of our circumstances in their full and complete perspective.......:)
We agree! Thank you for spending time to share.

Thank you for giving the details on how Satan operates. I've always wanted someone to explain things the way you do.
We sure appreciate you Farrah!
Great insights Blake. And I'll ask Tyler where that quote is from.

Great insights! I like to start my weekly study of the Come Follow Me study with your videos. Thank you for your preparation and presentation.
You are very welcome. It is a privilege to share with you.
Spot on!

Thank you for your thoughts and insights.
As a uk citizen this is very true. The Royals no more lead by example (the Queen tries her best, bless her), the government are terrible examples. But the Lord knows what's in their hearts, what I've seen of William and Kate they seem to have good hearts. As the uk and most countries don't have good leaders examples to follow, we need to follow just one example and one King and that's God......as it says in Alma 4:15, He will not fail us.
very clear scriptural application to the real-world setting!
Good to hear this. That is what we are hoping for.
Thank you so much for your insights into the Book of Mormon, they have brought the book alive for me, always looking forward for the next one.

Great job you guys are doing. Some questions:
1. Mosiah 21:15 "the Lord... began to soften the hearts of the Lamanites". We see this in the scriptures but just how does the Lord do this, without overriding the agency of the individual?
2. In the marvelous King Benjamin chapters, why did King Benjamin never mention baptism? (unless I missed it)
He leads us to water, and we then drink :)

Thank you Matt!
Perhaps the evil one only has one end in mind and that is to take away the glory of God....revenge. The Lord said it is His work and glory to save us. Each one whom he can get to follow him he feels will take away His glory.
Great insight.
Ha ha.
Thank you for this insights
You are welcome.

I think Alma 2 unfortunately could be similar to what might happen when politicians lose their upcoming election(s).
History seems to go in cycles.
@@taylorhalverson3052 thank you for your reply! It has helped open my insights. Loving these lessons as always, looking forward to your next one 😊
Thank you Brothers
Thank you Michael.
Brethren do you have the link to Elder Christofferson's talk on freedom that you mentioned?

Great insights Mark!
Great insights, thanks for sharing.
Is King Noah a brother to King Mosiah? God's way is always the right way....Great insights...Thanks so much.
Great question. Quick answer is No. That would mean that Zeniff was King Mosiah I father.

Keep up the great work
