Only a couple minutes in, and he’s already a lot more aggressive, but not sped up to the point of insanity. Makes for a pretty intense looking battle where you can’t just WAIL on him a bunch, and I like that about this.
What would make this fight better is Raiden gaining infinite ripper mode, like in Monsoon's fight. Edit: 3:01 I love how Armstrong just stops you from dealing any more damage against him when you stop him from healing.
Watching the full video through, there’s a massive shift in tone here vs the vanilla Armstrong battle. The original version felt like a triumphant and heroic battle to the death for the fate of the world, against a punishing but fair opponent. Here, it feels like a tense battle for survival against a Juggernaut of an opponent, where what little moments you have to breathe are just ones where he’s trying to aggressively beat you into a bloody paste. Between the new attack patterns, the new music, and how he’s presented, this is ironically the first time I’ve taken Armstrong completely seriously as a threat. “It Has To Be This Way” makes you feel like you’re about to be the new hero the world needs, but the new music just puts it into perspective how intense this guy is.
Ironically, the song is used against Urizen when Dante finally starts to overpower him with Sin devil trigger. Here, Raiden gains the murasama in order to beat Armstrong. In both cases, the hero acquires a new power up to defeat the main villain, but it won't be an easy task. One misstep and you get shredded.
Biblically accurate Armstrong Now seriously, GOAT mod, this is the real final boss that this game deserves. I think you could add 2 things for some other update: 1) The dash of the DLC. 2) Smaller Zandatsu marks like the Sundowner mod.
Jesus seeing Armstrong cancel his moves after hitting you just to follow it up with a barrage of attacks just to see if you are quick enough to react. + Can't wait to see boss raiden next
This is totally cool. Really good work you've done. Armstrong does two "flame-punch" attacks nearly back-to-back instead of a reasonable charge up time, still enters his berserk explosion phase when you cancel his healing, and my eyes might be deceiving me but his "attack range" (when he lashes out with fists and kicks) looks to be increased... on top of his more aggressive pathing. Ooooh, Blade Wolf speaks, that's actually a great way of implementing that bit of info instead of locking it behind codec. This is probably what should have been in Jetstream Sam's DLC instead of just a sped-up Armstrong. I'll also note that I agree with @josephbriggs2257; the music choice really changes the tone of the fight. Armstrong's original theme makes it sound like a final struggle between two individuals who believe in the same thing but have gone down two wildly different paths on achieving it, with Armstrong more passionate about his belief whereas Raiden's weaksauce "protect the weak" was merely a thin shield for his true Ripper side. The DMC5 theme... well, I'll be honest, I've never gotten into DMC and apart from Vergil and Nero's themes haven't listened to much of the music either. The most I've done is look up the Yamato on the wiki article and get terribly confused by it all. So, from an outsider's perspective, the change of music means that Raiden is up against an unstoppable beast of a man who will stop at nothing to bring about the America he wants to create, and that includes carving up children's bodies and minds to turn into super-soldiers, a complete and utterly depraved monster beyond redemption, more machine than man, twisted and evil. And when you defeat this guy, it's with less triumph and more "it has to be done", with not even the self-reflection that comes about in the vanilla aftermath of the fight.
I nearly ragequit while fighting him on hard difficulty... Currently playing again on very hard to get to the revengeance difficulty. This looks insane. Insanely difficult.
I know this is a very late comment, but I still find the way that you made Armstrong more difficult interesting without just buffing literally everything to an extreme. The fact Armstrong stops you from attacking after YOU cancel his healing just works better for a final boss, along with (I assume given I haven’t tried the mod) he would counter if the player tried to hit him when he’s starting up an unblockable explosion. It makes it feel like he doesn’t want Raiden to win rather than the more duel like function their fight had in the original, making a pretty interesting contrast between the two and the duel to the death with Sam earlier. Along with that, having Armstrong have his red glow throughout the fight, and having unwavering bravery from dmc 5 play(ironically the tone is way different with the track in the battle that it actually happens in.) Overall, if I can actually understand how to mod my copy of rising on my pc, then I’ll probably download this mod to give a proper final challenge for the s rank run of revengance difficulty.
@@sp00ky-tv Just wondering if you could try this improved bosses mod on a level 0 character wooden sword upgrading the sword to -5 on Revengeance difficulty is it even possible
Is there a way to mod replacement UI elements in this game? I wanted to try making one for Nintendo button layout prompts, for example, since I haven't seen one.
I think this is how the final battle against Armstrong had to be.
0:57 That walk looks like an actual in-game cinematic.

Thats how his nanotech is SUPPOSED to function, instead of him being open to attacks for 10 seconds straight lmao.

Btw the music is not included in the mod, but I'm planning to make a DMC5 battle music mod.
@@sp00ky-tv That sounds great, really looking forward to it.
Yeah, Armstrong has always been my least favorite boss fight in this game. He lacks that "threatening aura" the other bosses have.
@@sp00ky-tv its like the mundus fight in dmc 1, you are not getting the power up to destroy the boss, you are getting it to have a chance to survive.
Plot twist: Metal Gear Rising 2 Armstrong's Revenge
True Revengance Mode.
Lore accurate Senator Armstrong fight be like:
Armstrong health bar is not his health. It's the percentage of nanobots left in his heart.

Maybe not for the base game only for Revengeance and maybe very hard
The fact that "it has to be this way" didn't play causes me physical pain
With the amount of damage Armstrong has to sustain here to run out of stamina the whole fight now looks believable atleast.

basically armstrong remembers his fight with sam
This is why It Has To Be This Way.

@koboldwizard wait that actually works?!

Great showcase as always, but quick question: what happened to your other improved boss videos? They seemed to suddenly poof out of existence.
I felt like they were too outdated so I simply got rid of them. I'm gonna redo them anyway.

Late response, but from what I remember it's very complicated.
I wished armstrong could have gone into his own "ripper state" in raiden's fight with him
U should probably make a playlist for all the boss improvements videos u made
bro you don't dodge away when he does the explosion move , you wail on him and then dodge at the last second to abuse the i-frames
Well go ahead and try. I wouldn't recommend wailing on this Armstrong.

urizen battle theme, right?its from Devil May Cry 5

how do I install the mod?

Whats that boss music dude?
“Unwavering bravery” its a dmc 5 theme
You should do the music improvement. Just replace original songs with remixes or beta-versions of the song
