    Two weeks is too frequent for some of mine so just remember it's not that easy!

    • @petrescuework-difficultcas6581
      @petrescuework-difficultcas6581 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      Right. I'm a succulent breeder, specified on Aloes, and I never water every 2 weeks. My plants would rot away if I watered that frequent. It depends on your air humidity, the amount of sun light, the temperature and several other factors, like soil mix, etc.

    Reminder not to rely on watering schedules you hear online. Instead you should rely on signs of wilting and the dampness of the soil.

    all of my succulents (or succulent-like plants) have made it through the winter because i wait to water until their leaves start to feel a little soft. it’s a pretty good rule of thumb. i have anything from hawthoria, to kalanchoe, to senecio, a variegated jade plant, and a variegated string of pearls.. it works well with all of those lol. i feel like it’s SO much easier to tell what’s going on if you pay attention to the plant, not just the soil. i try to check mine everyday, but i miss some days, and that’s okay, as long as you keep on top of it. -i do have grow lights so they’ve been thirstier since i got them, but the hawthorias that i have weren’t under the grow lights and i still treat them the same way. check for softness!!!!
    i usually wait until a little less than half of the plant is getting soft, and they seem to love it??? they bounce RIGHT back to those thick juicy leaves. if they’re showing signs of too much dryness- leaves are getting crispy and falling off, you’re waiting too long. try watering before it gets to that point.
    but hey, we’re all learning, so don’t beat yourself up about it if you lose some leaves, or some plants. much love 🌱🧡

    Every two weeks is a bit of a generalization. Start with this but look at how your plants are doing and adjust accordingly

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's true. We always recommend that the soil should be checked before watering our plants 😉

  • @edenisok894
    @edenisok894 ปีที่แล้ว +60

    Bro that’s not how it works really. Haworthia have hard leaves but need indirect, soft leaves just indicate thirst.
    Water on signs of thirst, scheduled watering leads to over or under watering. Either means unhappy plant.
    Light: afternoon or morning direct sun is generally good, hawothia and echeveria will be fine in that kind of light. If plant starts to stress too much or etiolate move the plant to a shadier or sunnier spot respectively.

  • @yaya804
    @yaya804 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Cut back to watering once a month during winter, unless you have plant lights that mimic the active growing season. If they go sormant and stop growing, cut back on water to keep them from wet rotting

  • @KANNIXING
    @KANNIXING 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    If you know nothing about plants do not rely on this advice. Most succulents need watering maybe once a month or less, so to have a rule of every 2 weeks to stick by is odd, it depends on the plant, light levels and the soil. Also I’ve had cacti that have burned in direct light, so again depends on the plant.

    I'm in the beginning of my cacti journey after killing one. Cacti generally need more light but the species are all different. Some are naturally evolved for the shade of indirect sun.
    Or direct overcast sun. From what ive seen most cacti dont want direct bright light
