I’ve had it since 2011, confirmed by Biopsy in 2018. My kidney function/EGFR hovers between 50-50 percent. Try to live your live as best as you can and remain healthy. God Bless.
Just coming up on this video because i had much the same experience. Jan 2022 I was in the ER and they found blood and protein in urine. Didnt really follow up on it because i was dealing with other issues. Fast forward to August this year i am in the ER again and the protein and blood is still there. Went to urologist and got the CT scan as well as cystoscopy. With nothing found they sent me to Nephrology. Came back after the kidney biopsy and lab work and they gave me the IgA Nephropathy diagnosis. Its been a rollercoaster of a ride in the week since then. Wishing you the best.
I can really relate with what you’re going through.. I also have a chronic disease, I really get the “freaking out” phase you mentioned, it’s tough. Having to take medication for the rest of our lives is tough. I hope you will find peace with it and keep on living great and healthy and happy life🙌🏼
@@anks3231 I would say we need to understand nothing is too horrible, it’s only horrible in our heads. We need to chill out and live with optimistic perspective
I was just diagnosed with IgAN the day before Thanksgiving. I’m 51. I’m so glad that you found out so much sooner than I did. That’s a blessing. I’ve had multiple kidney infections without ever having a single UTI for over a decade and nobody could tell me why. Surprise! But yeah, it is so much to process, and I am still processing. Be kind to yourself. This is hard. 💕
You got this. You're taking it head-on, getting educated, and doing whatever it is you're going to need to do. And you won't be alone. Big hugs and lots of love!!
Thank you for sharing your story. I can relate as I was just diagnosed this past week and am still processing what this means and how it will impact my life.
i was diagnosed 2 years ago at stage 4. im now receiving dialysis. just stay away from sodium or high protein diet. if you ever need dialysis its good to limit potassium and phsophorus
I just found your channel from videos you have done in the past. Seeing this as your latest video left shocked. Ig I just wanted to leave a message to say that I watched this till the end and like everyone I pray for your well being! Have A Nice Life!
Heyo, im 23 and was diagnosed with iga at 21. With blood and protien jn my urine. I was caught at end stage 3. Im now on dialysis awaiting transplant. Hows your kidney function?@@BalancingLaura
Laura my wife has the exact same issue. You are not alone. There are medications as well speak that can reduce the progression. If you are in the early stages of this, this is going to be 15 years minimum to get to a stage of concern or dialysis. You need to consult doctors frequently and make sure you are taking the recommended diet asked by the doctor
I have an auto immune syndrome that I was diagnosed with at 16. On medication for life. For me, it makes me really not want to get any new health issues. I don't want diabetes, I want to prevent everything that I can. 1 healh issue is enough for me. Thank you for sharing your experience
I've had it since 1998, body fully tries to shut down went I get something viral. Only recently after a Covid spike did my gfr get way worse and hits stage 3a and had to start BP meds. I was able to maintain for along time due "clean" living but its also luck I swear. I'm sad to see this rare disease is happening more. I'm 43 at this point and don't plan on slowing down even if odds say 24 years at stage 3.. its all about fighting the inflammation (and staying away form things that cause it) and buying time staying as healthy as possible till better treatments come along. We got three new drugs now, tarpeyo got fda approve. Artificial kidney is coming along a ton too. Good luck on your journey!
I can totally relate to this Laura as I also have a chronic kidney issue. I went to the doctor one day because my back hurt. They ran all sorts of test/scans and my doctor said I think there's something up with your kidneys, so he sent to nephrologist. All sorts or tests again, you know the drill, and he confirmed my kidneys are jacked. I also caught it early, but the prognosis is the same. Lower blood pressure, drink lots of water, and minimize the damage. Hang in there, it will get easier once it sets in. Nowadays I am only reminded when I go see the nephrologist every 6 months.
My husband has IGA Nephropathy too. He was confirmed but the good thing is there is 0% activity. Meaning it wasn't active. That's what on the most important thing to see of how active the disease is. He starter changing his lifestyle. Huuugsssssss We are living happily. We have 2 y/o . And he is the breadwinner. It freaks me out but i gotta relax.. and cook well food
Thank you so much for sharing. I'm so sorry that you have this health issue. I hope that you can overcome this and become better soon. I liked your video. You looked very cute. Congratulations for being married too. I hope you have a good and wonderful marriage and future. I was just looking at bare foot shoes videos in TH-cam and just came across your videos. I'm glad. Thank you so much. I hope you can become better soon : )
I'll tell you what you do. Enjoy life now and visit every place you want to see before your quality of your life deteriorates. An old many told me one time who was going on a cruise every year with wife to take the cruises while I'm young and see everything while I can because when I'm old I won't enjoy them as much.
I ask God to grant you guidance and patience ❤ I’ve only ever seen your barefoot shoe reviews and your videos were instrumental for me in making the switch over! Clearly you’re an incredibly brave/ conscientious youtuber in sharing this. Glad your getting support from your love ones 🙌🏾
Hey Laura. Love your videos. No matter what happens you will be able to handle it. It’s so great you found this early. Good luck (not that you need it) and don’t let fear have a hold !!! As you said, you are going to be ok! 💪
I have the same condition. Did you stop having cold showers/baths since the diagnosis. Because cold increases bp temporarily, but in the long term is it beneficial?
You are so resilient and authentic! God's got you through and through🙏🏻 I thank God your husband is standing beside you through it all! You two make an awesome Team💙 I trust you're already on top of the research and you know your body best! Two things came to mind: 1) Oxalates and 2) because I can tell you love to challenge yourself! Have you explored a Whole Foods Plant Based Lifestyle?
I have it to, was diagnosed 11 y ago and for now I have really good lab results! At the beginning I was really scared too. Ofc I'm scared for the future bc you never know but I'm am trying to do what I can (healthy diet, stress management etc.). I hope the best for you
Hi Laura, I’m kind of confused about something. How did you know that there was an issue to begin with? I randomly watch your videos and I appreciate everything you do. I have a issue with frequent urination, but I’ve had every test done. I could’ve done except for a biopsy type of things. I haven’t looked up your condition but I’m afraid to. I will keep you in my prayers. Blessings ❤

You're video randomly showed up on my feed... No idea if this is helpful but I got diagnosed with psoriasis last fall which also "has no cure" and is caused by inflammation. The stuff they prescribed didn't actually do anything. After a while I decided to see what changes I could make and found anecdotal evidence of keto helping. I decided to try and see if it could work and 90 days later my psoriasis is almost gone. Kind of random to find your channel through a barefoot video but I just felt like I should share my story in case it has application here.
@@BalancingLauraI was diagnosed at age 21 now 23 with iga nethropothy. I am now on dialysis awaiting transplant. Hope yours doesn't progress. They caughtmine at stage 3 to almost 4.......
Salt intake should be less than 3.75gms a day. This is inclusive of the food you take in meals, biscuits, etc. Can't take leafy vegetables, potato and other foods rich in potassium.
I didnt even know it was rare lol. I got diagnosed in 2016 in my early 20s. I have gone through all the steps since then but i know damn well all about the overwhelming feeling and not being able to accept it or process your sitatuation so I wont let you in on too much details 🙃 hang in there. For me living as normal as possible not thinking about it helps the most!

P.S. Thank you for allowing God to turn your trials into triumphs by bringing awareness to others=)
Did you get the vaccine by chance
The vaccine doesn't have anything to do with it. I was diagnosed before I ever got the vaccine
