Panasonic Toughbook CF-C2 SODIMM RAM memory upgrade (both slots)

Upgrading the memory in both slots of the Panasonic Toughbook CF-C2 notebook is a bit tricky. One slot is easily accessible, the other one is buried deep within.
The Toughbook CF-C2 uses DDR3L SODIMM memory. While the CPU (Intel Core i5 3427U in this case) supports DDR3L-1600, the machine always seems to run at DDR3L-1333 speeds. So installing DDR3L-1600 instead of DDR3L-1333 won't bring a performance benefit, but increasing the total (up to 2x8GB) will help to make the machine run more smoothly.
Even today, this is a nice notebook. As the name implies, it's tough. It has a nice (IPS) touchscreen, it's lightweight, can convert to a tablet and it's fanless.

Thank you for the video step by step. So I'm clear you installed 2x 8gb of ram for a total of 16gb? I read some Panasonic literature that stated this machine will only accept a total of 8gb. I was hoping you would show the BIOS to confirm the RAM. As you state they are still productive machines even today.

I had at one point installed 2x 8GB which was detected, but unfortunately this RAM turned out to be defective (or had extremely poor compatibility) and resulted in memtest errors in test 4 and 5. I tested the RAM in several other laptops and it didn't work right in any of them. If you install 2x 8GB from a reputable brand it should work, but absolute guarantees can't be given.

You don’t have to do all of that just to upgrade the ram, this model has a ram door. On the bottom remove 2 screws and replace old ram. Video is good to see other components

If you wish to replace/upgrade all the RAM, you do. This model has not one, but two RAM slots. One is indeed easily accessible behind the RAM door, which I opened at 0:22. The other slot.. that's the rest of the video. 😅
