1. When has ever a Megaman game given you 3 extra lives at once? 2. You can see a Met on the same screen as those 1ups. If that's not an obvious indication, I don't know what is.
The area with 3 lives on screen at a time was a dead giveaway that they were fakes, but the one that was next to a bottomless pit was truly evil, since that looked like the sort of spot an ACTUAL extra life would be.
He reminds me of Wily in the Pal cover of Mega Man 3. Of course, the one in that one does not have all that head gear, but that cover was scary as shit to me as a kid.
Glad to see there are others in agreement that this is, hands down, the best theme for ANY Mega Man game. When I got to this stage I didn't want it to end. 1:11-1:23 is absolutely stunning. Such a great tune!
That background looks like Heihachi Mishima's bionic jaw surgery. How strange. This is definitely my favourite fortress theme from Mega Man 9. It's one of my favourites of the series, along with Proto Man's castle, Wily 3 from MM7 and Cossack 1 + 2.
After hearing this song in a trailer and seeing for the first time that MM9 would be the ultimate retro game I knew I had to have it. Thank you Capcom for not forgetting the greatest days of gaming and bringing back so many memories! =,)
Couldn't agree more. First time I heard this it officially got a spot in my top 10 fav Megaman songs. Although the same could be said for nearly all of MM9's songs. They're just all so damn good!
Out of all the games I played in 2009 (which was a lot) this one was my favourite. And great track too. It's got the epic/techno music that a Wily stage should have with a hint of an oriental theme going on.
I've played quite a few Mega Man games, but I'd say this is perhaps my favorite track outside of some of the stuff in Mega Man and Bass (to be more specific, Cold Man and Pirate Man). It's really well done--perhaps even more so than Mega Man 2's Wily Stage 1.
this soundtrack resembles DOUBLE DRAGON 3 in the EGYPT stage.. but there is also a part in it that sounds like the JAPAN the RANZOU stage in DD3.. hmm.. epic
@mariox901 *SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT CLOCKED MM9* Did anyone notice at the end (after you beat Dr. Wily but before MM lectures him on his repeated mistakes) that you could see the blue-prints for Bass in the background? He could make a return? Also, this track is awesome! It's added to the greatest Wily themes for sure!
So totally sick. it Hits the best because the challenge is AGAIN getting there and it keeps you going through the next sets of hell the game is tossing the blue bomber. It's like the game is giving you a pep talk to keep your spirits up. Seriously best music outside of REZ.
@SuperSketch008 And Mega Man 2 isn't bugged?? Did you forget the Metal Blades and falling off ladders if you paused the game or having to use clairvoyance the first time you fought the boss that only is killed by the crash missile?
I just came up with beat-for-beat lyrics for the start of the song "We're not villains Or machines for killin' We do what we're programmed, We are the robots!"
And to elaborate on that, Zero was first activated by Dr. Wily, if I remember correctly. It's just remained a toss in the air as to what happened between his activation and when Sigma battled him after the unit of Garma was wiped out by Zero.
to clarify - in the room with the three magma jets (whatever they're called), immediately summon Rush and begin jumping onto him BEFORE he has landed fully - then you will land on his back before the jet hits you, and you can jump to the middle ladder.
Megaman 9 has got to be one of thee games of the year, i told all my mates but they were not interested due to the graphics, what do they know though, its all ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY!!!
I love this game, i'm gonna buy it on my xbox 360, also at :034 to 0:46 tune, and 1:12 to 1:24, fucking epic, also this song reminds me of Double Dragon for some reason, maybe because this kicks ass like double dragon, thank you capcom for bringing so many memories, this is where mega man belongs, with the awesome graphics, the fucking epic music, the 8-bit style memory, and the Fantastic Gameplay.
I love this song.... but this doesn't sound ANYTHING like the version that plays when I'm actually playing this level on my PS3 (which is faster, more high pitched and sounds worse)
Mega Man's 9 and 10 soundtracks are awesome. I don't agree when someone say that megaman 10 is bad. Sincerely, any fan of megaman should love Mega Man 1-10, there's no bad megaman's classic games :)
I dont think mega man 2 or 3 are over rated at all. I still think they are they best ones and this game might be 3rd. This game was not made on nintendo it was made on modern systems. The fact people still talk about mega man 2 shows how good it was
@shawnoosept yea the nes remake of mm7. the fan made one right?. im having a couple issues with it. first i can maximize the screen which is just a minor inconvienience but the real problem is burstman. his bubbles are unpopable. u get trapped thats it. one hit death from above. hopefully the 8 bit mm8 wont be so bad. would they dare make jump jump slide slid even WORSE?
@gravybatter Of course I had. They must be inferiors for some fans but they're pretty good games. The classic series did well during their releases, but unfortunately i can't say the same thing to the X series... they didn't go well after X6
This is the hardest megaman game ever. Harder than megamanzero1 to 4 harder thanx6, x7and x8 And harder than megaman 1-7and megaman and bass harder than the starforce series. Even if this game came out in 2008, this game is soo retro that we have the feeling that we know this game since 20 years ago. Retro gamers will understand what I'm talking about. This is the game of the year! That music is soo epic that I can sense the courage of megaman . We can all sense the power of this retro music!
Since the other guy's reply to your comment is written in perfect pidgeon english, I'll explain it: As soon as you come to the first lazer, equip rush coil and jump to the ladder, then when you go to the next screen (the room witht the three lazors) immediately summon rush and jump towards the middle ladder. It takes practice, but after that you should do just fine. Oh and you need to take the right ladder on the third screen, but it's easy.
This soundtrack, let alone this song, is a big example of why I like MM9's soundtrack MORE than MM2's. Don't take it a bad way but MM2 had some great songs, but they all kinda sounded the same. All of MM9's songs are different and unique! Thumbs up if you agree!
The "extra life" Mets are still some of the most diabolical enemies ever created
Sons of bitch
1. When has ever a Megaman game given you 3 extra lives at once?
2. You can see a Met on the same screen as those 1ups. If that's not an obvious indication, I don't know what is.
Captured the essence of NES era enemy design
Thanks a lot, Wily! Now I can't even trust 1-Ups anymore!!
The area with 3 lives on screen at a time was a dead giveaway that they were fakes, but the one that was next to a bottomless pit was truly evil, since that looked like the sort of spot an ACTUAL extra life would be.
The people who produce music for Capcom are so damn talented.
Amen!!
Omg wily looks like a star wars villain
dude I didn't even recognize that as Wily until I read your comment
He reminds me of Wily in the Pal cover of Mega Man 3. Of course, the one in that one does not have all that head gear, but that cover was scary as shit to me as a kid.
Jon McCaleb Wily starting to look like Sigma
Doctor Neoraptor - formerly EaglePhys caught by the borg the only thing he later knew was:
RESISTENCE IS FUTILE!
He looks like Darth malgus from Star Wars EU
We are the robots!
The riffs of 80s hair metal and 90s shred metal are strong with this one.
Glad to see there are others in agreement that this is, hands down, the best theme for ANY Mega Man game. When I got to this stage I didn't want it to end. 1:11-1:23 is absolutely stunning. Such a great tune!
not the best in the series but definetely the best of megaman 9
Its actually a throw back to the first Mega Man covers when they came to the states. They looked something like this.
*Looks at box art*
We are the Wily. You will be assimilated. Resistance is- oh wait you're already a robot. Never mind.
one of the best mm soundtrack i ever heard sounds so late 80's retro.
+King- Gamer
Yup. This could easily be reproduced on real NES hardware.
Jerkwad152 It was attempted, and was actually done with Mega Man 10 in Famitracker.
This song really makes it sound like Megamans last stand against Wily, like this is really the end, do or die.
That background looks like Heihachi Mishima's bionic jaw surgery. How strange.
This is definitely my favourite fortress theme from Mega Man 9. It's one of my favourites of the series, along with Proto Man's castle, Wily 3 from MM7 and Cossack 1 + 2.
It's basically a riff on bad box art MM1
Even though I'm not the biggest Mega Man fan in the world, I'll admit this song is GODLIKE!
I can imagine Mega Man dancing while going on in the stage.
Same goes to me while playing.
After hearing this song in a trailer and seeing for the first time that MM9 would be the ultimate retro game I knew I had to have it. Thank you Capcom for not forgetting the greatest days of gaming and bringing back so many memories! =,)
0:33 the Best part!
Same here!
i love the fact that capcom basically went back in time with this game cuz it sure brings back the old time!!!
Couldn't agree more. First time I heard this it officially got a spot in my top 10 fav Megaman songs. Although the same could be said for nearly all of MM9's songs. They're just all so damn good!
The best Wily theme ever.
Best Wily stage theme in the series.
Wily looks metal as fuck in that cover art
When I hear the song and the name I just think of the MM9 robot masters leading a revolt against Wily.
Probably my favorite song from MM9. So good.
Out of all the games I played in 2009 (which was a lot) this one was my favourite.
And great track too. It's got the epic/techno music that a Wily stage should have with a hint of an oriental theme going on.
I love it. I can't stop playing the game!!
I've played quite a few Mega Man games, but I'd say this is perhaps my favorite track outside of some of the stuff in Mega Man and Bass (to be more specific, Cold Man and Pirate Man). It's really well done--perhaps even more so than Mega Man 2's Wily Stage 1.
this soundtrack resembles DOUBLE DRAGON 3 in the EGYPT stage.. but there is also a part in it that sounds like the JAPAN the RANZOU stage in DD3.. hmm.. epic
OMG! I was thinking the same thing
Nah, this is totally Rambo.
One of the best 8-Bit tracks i've ever heard.
0:00 to 3:03 perfeccion ;)
es mi soundtrack favorito
de hecho me gustan todos los soundtracks de megaman 9
comparto totalmente
+Pablito Games :v
La chica Otaku gamer :v
+Pablito Games te gusta megaman ? :v
La chica Otaku gamer see aun que solo he jugado los de nes y el 9 y10
I LOVE this theme! It's almost as good as Mega Man 2's Wily Stage theme...
Almost...
This is far better in my opinion.
Killing the breakdown!!!!!!
This is better than Wily Fortress 1 from Mega Man 2.
creepy box art mega man strikes again
hard stages...excelent music... a real classic..
@mariox901
*SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT CLOCKED MM9*
Did anyone notice at the end (after you beat Dr. Wily but before MM lectures him on his repeated mistakes) that you could see the blue-prints for Bass in the background? He could make a return?
Also, this track is awesome! It's added to the greatest Wily themes for sure!
You were right!
heihachi, are you?
So totally sick.
it Hits the best because the challenge is AGAIN getting there and it keeps you going through the next sets of hell the game is tossing the blue bomber. It's like the game is giving you a pep talk to keep your spirits up.
Seriously best music outside of REZ.
We da robots tinyboy! Also this is soooooo catchy. Especially 1:11 and 2:35
Sounds like a Eurodance 90s amazing
@SuperSketch008 And Mega Man 2 isn't bugged?? Did you forget the Metal Blades and falling off ladders if you paused the game or having to use clairvoyance the first time you fought the boss that only is killed by the crash missile?
I just came up with beat-for-beat lyrics for the start of the song
"We're not villains
Or machines for killin'
We do what we're programmed,
We are the robots!"
no,just....no..
This music is so friggin' catchy! Video game music is amazing.
Amazing that they could recapture that old school NES track feel and still kill it after all those years.
One of the best themes in the whole game.
These first three Wily stages in Mega Man 9 proves that Capcom's still got it in the music department.
I remember my dolphin emulator playing this theme at 0.5x speed and I was always at this part 0:06 like: *TK DU TK DU*
Seriously. This theme rocks the living shit out of me. I love it. I'll have to write some weird lyrics to this.
Such an amazing theme. Too bad the stage is one of the most diabolically designed stages I’ve ever played.
Best song of the classic series IMO!
Not really. His personal machines started to have a skull motif since Mega Man 4 even though his castles are skull based since MM2 at least.
I don't like this stage. Though I do like the Mega Mech Shark, but I HATE the water part.
MM9’s Wily castle in general is just a pain in the ass.
We're the Robots
The best classic mega man theme don’t @ me your wrong
What is "Don't at me?"
WHAT is WITH that background picture? Darth Wily?!?!
For some reason this gives me good memories of my past, but I recently played Megaman 9.
And to elaborate on that, Zero was first activated by Dr. Wily, if I remember correctly. It's just remained a toss in the air as to what happened between his activation and when Sigma battled him after the unit of Garma was wiped out by Zero.
WE ARE THE ROBOTS. DAMN STRAIGHT.
to clarify - in the room with the three magma jets (whatever they're called), immediately summon Rush and begin jumping onto him BEFORE he has landed fully - then you will land on his back before the jet hits you, and you can jump to the middle ladder.
Megaman 9 has got to be one of thee games of the year, i told all my mates but they were not interested due to the graphics, what do they know though, its all ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY!!!
0:45 reminds me of we didn't start the fire
WTF?...look at Wiley in that image.....looks bad ass!
This stage is hard as hell! and really long. but the music is awesome
ambatukam
I love this song.... but this doesn't sound ANYTHING like the version that plays when I'm actually playing this level on my PS3 (which is faster, more high pitched and sounds worse)
Because you're playing it on your ps3
IvoryBeats gottem
Well this is the Xbox 360 version. Many of the songs in the 360 version has different duty cycles, such as Concrete Man, Stage Select, etc
Best Mega Man song in history. And that's saying a lot.
Mega Man's 9 and 10 soundtracks are awesome. I don't agree when someone say that megaman 10 is bad. Sincerely, any fan of megaman should love Mega Man 1-10, there's no bad megaman's classic games :)
"Yeah, we're robots. Ever heard of it?"
you will be a an alone on that one, Mega Man 2 has a legendary Soundtack. Adored through the ages.
I dont think mega man 2 or 3 are over rated at all. I still think they are they best ones and this game might be 3rd. This game was not made on nintendo it was made on modern systems.
The fact people still talk about mega man 2 shows how good it was
@shawnoosept yea the nes remake of mm7. the fan made one right?. im having a couple issues with it. first i can maximize the screen which is just a minor inconvienience but the real problem is burstman. his bubbles are unpopable. u get trapped thats it. one hit death from above. hopefully the 8 bit mm8 wont be so bad. would they dare make jump jump slide slid even WORSE?
dunno 7 and 8's Wilys but besides that, ya got a sweet taste there, I agree :D
@gravybatter Of course I had. They must be inferiors for some fans but they're pretty good games. The classic series did well during their releases, but unfortunately i can't say the same thing to the X series... they didn't go well after X6
Rambo, man.
YOU GET:
BROKEN BEER STEIN
AS A RESULT OF
FRUSTRATION!
seriously, I couldn't make it past wily stage 2.
and my beer stein suffered... oh well
Nostalgia
I love this bgm
Anyone else prefer this over the smash remix?
whats up with that picture? megaman looks older and dr. willy´s face, errrr, well you tell me!
esta chida esta cancion
@SuperSketch008 MM11: We will see, but we can guess that Capcom will not stop the epic in this beautiful line of games, despite Kenjii's absence...
this song reminds me of double dragon... it's still very good
You are right it pretty much follows perfectly. I still did enjoy 3 & 4 very very much though too.
only a few minutes, then megaman 10 will be available, cant wait! yehaaaaw
at first i was finding this track dull but that transition at 1:11 and on was great. :)
i agree this is 8-bit Heaven with a side of paradise music 2 my ears!!!
ROFLMAO @ THE ARTWORK !
That's a 2008 comment if ever there was one.
Guess his skull craze is deepening every year.
@shawnoosept how do u "shake" out of it
This soundtrack, let alone this song, is a big example of why I like MM9's soundtrack MORE than MM2's.
Don't take it a bad way but MM2 had some great songs, but they all kinda sounded the same.
All of MM9's songs are different and unique!
Thumbs up if you agree!
Doctor Wily looks like a sith in that cover
Kind of like Darth Malgus, yeah.
@strifey07 mega man 1-6 was on nes. mega man 7 and rockman and forte were on snes and mega man 8 was on playstation and sega saturn.
❤💙
WOW SOOOO GODDAMN PERFECT!!!!!!
I wonder if Dr. Wily was a goth as a kid. Would explain his slightly creepy fixation with skulls.
This should've been wind man's theme
Mysterious Maximus y tho
@SuperSketch008 Soo... what are your thoughts on MM10?
I'm confused
yeah you are right. IT'S soo challenging that it's hard.
@Doombot2point0 lol I see thanks for the little tidbit of info there.
