yess robbie just what i needed your the best man, thankyou so much caught my pb redfin useing everything you said in the video i cant thankyou more, all the best mate
If you are trying to teach some beginners lure fishing for reddies, i reckon just throwing spinners around for awhile is better than trying to swap between spins, plastics and other lures. Spinners take alot of the thinking out of the lure fishing and help you to learn how the reddies follow and bite lures. But dont spend too long just on the spinners, not a second to lose. Get out there and into it kids. As always, many thanks robbie, youre a legend
Yer spinners outfish all especially trout ( my opinion) and easy even bring upstream against current trout dont care and they spin awesome and can retrieve slowly
Thanks for the tips Excellent explanation and instructions When for started using soft plastics I was taught to do the count down just like you did and it worked
The best lure for redfin was called a celta it looked like a small redfin single blade in brass or silver with treble hook and a red cotton tail on treble get big redfin and heaps of little fellas and yellow belly odd cod but mainly for redfin
You can still get Celtas but they're not as good as the originals. They were very good, but these days there are much better spinners. Some of the modern spinners cast further and spin better than Celtas ever did.
Your red tail resemble our yellow perch. The yellow perch would take similar baits. They have days where it's like they are on a feeding frenzy. Every cast produces a violent strike. I've also noticed they must run in schools of similar sized fish. If you're hitting 6"-8" that's what you catch. If you get into 10"-12" that's what you catch. Great show today. Wonderful surroundings about the water.
Great Video Robbie 👍 Couple of Nice Redfin. I went fishing in our Golden Perch / Yabby Dam and i caught 9 Golden Perch in1hr 20 mins and my dad and i used them for breeding and when we took the Adult Golden Perch out of the tank while the eggs hatch and put them back in the dam and there was a Female Golden Perch Still full of eggs that didn't lay so we put Her in the Retirement Dam like we do with all of the Retired Golden Perch and Silver Perch
Great stuff but sometimes those Redfin will hit lures as big as themselves. Used to have great fun fishing for them after school in Croydon lake right in the heart of Croydon VIC the lake was basically a tiny dam next to the Marsupial (Municipal) Library . That was 45yrs ago I’m not sure if there are any there now after the Library redevelopment. It was a brilliant Redfin fishery apart from getting your Celtas getting snagged on discarded bikes and shopping trolleys.
Hey Robbie. Have you caught an austaralian bass before? What a great looking spot lake buffalo is! I’m going to Avon river in a few days with my new bait caster to try get more bass! I’m gonna be using plastic frogs and surface lures. Wish me luck :) Thank you for sharing your fishing trips. Nearly at 90k
@ nice Robbie! I only just discovered that bass were in there last new years (we go to the same camping spot every new years) so I’m prepared this time :) very deep pool with heaps of hungry bass in there. My pb is 35cm I’m hoping to break it this year. I might make a video on how my fishing went
Great video. Good of you to show what you normally take fishing. How many items did you return home with? I was just wondering. 😮 Cheers mate, and merry Xmas. Thanks for all your hard work and effort during the year.
G'day mate, great question. I just like my spinner to look a bit smaller. A snap swivel is an excellent idea, I just like the lure to be a little less bulky. Even though it's probably only 1 or 2 grams different. Haha
Redfin are so underrated, i dont get why they're so hated they're pretty fish, taste great and are always there when nothing else is biting, still i would much rather catch a trout or even better a big native like the old days (that i werent there for). but i find catching tens of tiny schooled redfin sometimes so close basiclly 'ice' fishing them to be so fun
@ thanks cause I’m not from down there I’m down Ballarat ways I’m going up to see my grandpa and out for the week skiing and fishing thanks for that what lures you recommend just soft plastics
Haha So have I. It is a magnificent river mate. I've fished it for trout in the headwaters but never fished it down below the dam for cod. Sadly trout numbers are right down up there at the moment.
The banana shock grub for me does the most damage I took them with my kayak to lake nagambie and trolled the plastic around and caught 5 fat 32-36cm reddies in a hour
yess robbie just what i needed your the best man, thankyou so much caught my pb redfin useing everything you said in the video i cant thankyou more, all the best mate
WIW that's so cool, thank you so much mate, and well done. 👍👍

yea I reckon spinners are best for any lures

That does look so enjoyable, Robbie. Just wading in the nice cool water on a hot day. Some nice fish as well mate.
Thanks mate. There's not a better way to nest the heat. I love this type of fishing.
4 is always the magic number robbie
Thanks for the tips
Excellent explanation and instructions
When for started using soft plastics I was taught to do the count down just like you did and it worked
Thanks so much Pete. 👍👍
That first two you caught were excellent pike bait.
The best lure for redfin was called a celta it looked like a small redfin single blade in brass or silver with treble hook and a red cotton tail on treble get big redfin and heaps of little fellas and yellow belly odd cod but mainly for redfin
The old school celtas slways spun reslly strongly too

Good one mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Let’s go robbie

Thanks mate. Thankfully there are no shopping trolleys in Lake Buffalo that I know of.
Hey Robbie. Have you caught an austaralian bass before? What a great looking spot lake buffalo is! I’m going to Avon river in a few days with my new bait caster to try get more bass! I’m gonna be using plastic frogs and surface lures. Wish me luck :)
Thank you for sharing your fishing trips. Nearly at 90k
Thanks mate. Good luck at the Avon. I have caught bass. I've caught 4 of them. I caught them in the Snow River about 12 or 13 years ago.

Cheers mate, and merry Xmas. Thanks for all your hard work and effort during the year.
Thanks so much Robert, Merry Christmas to you and your family too.
Haha I brought just about everything home.
Awesome video Robbie! Was wondering if you know any good spots down south in Vic
Thanks mate. No I don't sorry, I've never fished in the southern part of the state. Sorry mate.
learning from the best :)
Thanks so much mate.
I have been trying to get a redfin on a fly
The other day one boofed my fly as I was about to roll cast
Gonna go try to get some today
Awesome. Good luck mate. Once you catch one you will be hooked. 👍👍
G'day, My top tip. A wet hook catches more fish than a dry one.
Haha very true.
Hey Robbie you should go to the middle road channel in Rushworth I catch heaps of yellow belly and redfins
Awesome, thanks mate. I've been there before but didn't do any good. LOL Maybe I need to try again.
@ could you send me a link of good fishing spots and lures and rods
Hey Robbie, I ues a snap swivel above my spinners for ease in changing lures. Wondering why you use the knot only?
G'day mate, great question. I just like my spinner to look a bit smaller. A snap swivel is an excellent idea, I just like the lure to be a little less bulky. Even though it's probably only 1 or 2 grams different. Haha
Mate use the tiny red fin as bait
Haha excellent idea. 👍👍
Thanks mate. Sadly there are just so many Greenies around these days. Too many. They're also the reason that trout are no longer stocked into streams.
What size jig head would u use for the blue duck inn fishing
1/32oz
Hey Robbie I might be going up the basin for new years what side do you reckon to go or what to troll on a kayak
G'day mate, it all depends on which direction the wind is blowing. Try and get onto the Lee side of the lake. 👍👍
@ thanks cause I’m not from down there I’m down Ballarat ways I’m going up to see my grandpa and out for the week skiing and fishing thanks for that what lures you recommend just soft plastics
@@Ryder-x4oHey buddy I'm from Rushworth I live 5 minutes from the Basin what tips are you after?
@ just really what lures to use and thank you
@@Ryder-x4o get yourself a rapla lure in brown trout colour they are great as
I've seen BIGGER sardines! LOL!
Rob, DO you ever fish the Buffalo river at all, & what is it like?
Haha So have I. It is a magnificent river mate. I've fished it for trout in the headwaters but never fished it down below the dam for cod. Sadly trout numbers are right down up there at the moment.
The banana shock grub for me does the most damage I took them with my kayak to lake nagambie and trolled the plastic around and caught 5 fat 32-36cm reddies in a hour
WOW that's so awesome,.well done mate.
