Maybe if rick wasn't stupid enough to go seek allies with jadis and her group all alone and get locked up in some goddamn shipping container for 2 whole episodes, then maybe carl wouldn't have gotten bit.
Prime Rick Grimes was several levels above everyone else. It's a pity that the best zombie series eventually turned into a hack. Even spin-offs don't save the series. I think spin-offs only spoil everything. For me, the original series ended exactly where the crooked writers decided to kill Carl. I couldn't bring myself to look any further.
I think the thing we didn't realize is that when Rick brought up his Dad burning the farm down to save everyone, We all got worried he'd do the same thing when in actuality he already did with the Bridge and I'm betting that's why he'll finally make it home.
