As great as that would be don't forget kingdom hearts 3 somewhat had that amount of development and was still just meh. Edit: thought you said 13 years my bad
That's for gen 9. I agree after this, expectation for that _should- be very high. But because this shows that Gamefreak does support vast Worlds and does like to push the boat out (within reason).
@@TheClassicnathan KH3 had problems because of Disney. Story pacing being bad was because of Disney, the Disney worlds are seen as the worst part of it, etc That's why Re:Mind ended up so well in the eyes of the fanbase, because they weren't being limited by Disney in it
Hearing a lot of your points has kinda opened my mind to what legends arceus seems to be missing that I never understood. I think you’re right in thinking the locales are missing some landmarks, especially in a map based open world setting. I get it’s a time before civilization was set up but Monster Hunter has implemented so many well crafted natural landmarks in each map that just stand out and legends is just a lot of flat ground. I don’t have a huge problem with the graphics since it does seem to be an artistic choice but I do kinda wish it had the same quality as the new Pokémon snap. I was also worried when you mentioned quest variety but apparently people who got it early say that there’s decent variety so that’s a relief. I do think this is an interesting change to Pokémon and a much needed step in the right direction, hopefully many Pokémon games later down the line take what legends did and expand upon it and perfect the craft, it’s a much needed shake up to Pokémon as we know it, even if it is Pokémon with monster hunter elements I mean just look at how beloved monster hunter is. I personally believe legends should spend at the very least another year in the oven. It looks great compared to the generation 6 block. Pokémon seems to have been improving a little each generation after that. Sun and Moon were fantastic and much more impressive than XY, even if it still wasn’t for everyone. Sword and Shield has problems, many problems. I personally enjoyed them because I saw the good they brought with making Pokémon more accessible to people who want to play competitive and dabbled with the idea of open world with the wild area and the DLC zones. I don’t count BDSP since they’re just DP HD and were frankly disappointing, I don’t even have the strength to play past the 3rd city right now it’s just so lame. I wish the Pokémon company would let gamefreak take more time before releases, it’s not gamefreak’s fault it’s the company that owns them because if it was gamefreak’s fault BDSP wouldn’t have sucked, and sun and moon being a more visually impressive game than XY and taking more time to develop was a result of what could improve if gamefreak was able to take more time to develop the game. I just wish TPCI wouldn’t just pump out a Pokémon game every 1-2 years so that we can actually get the quality we want. Sorry to go on a rant but yeah, as someone excited for legends, I have a fair bit of skepticism too, but I hope it’s a good game because it looks better than what Swsh and BDSP brought to the table
I think the skepticism felt around this game is very valid. I am hopeful that this is a good step in the right direction from sword and shield. Sword and shield are painfully mediocre games with a boring story and bland level design. This feels very reminiscent of breath of the wild and I hope that this is Pokémons breath of the wild moment. The huisui forms as a whole are a mixed bag with some outstanding designs and some really bad designs. The difference between Pokémon and Kirby is that Kirby is given years to flesh out its games I think there is around a gap of 2-3 years with planet robobot being the exception. Pokemon since x and y feels rushed and not well thought out. Meanwhile Kirby at least has its interesting lore and solid gameplay to back up a stale feeling formula. I hope legends arceus is good, Pokemon needs this after sword and shield
I definitely agree that XY onwards feels kind of rushed and I think that it is probably due to them having releases every year or two and not being able to put as much effort as the previous games. I hope that if they do continue to do constant releases that they continue to outsource (like with BDSP) but use it to allow more time to improve what they are working on
In my opinion the graphics are good enough, the concept behind exploring an ancient region is great, and most of the new Pokémon are good additions. However I fear that it would be a barren wasteland with nothing else to do than catch and look for items. Hidden areas, expansive side quests, and a good plot is what I think is necessary for a game like this.
@@mattfriesen9535 I feel that outsourcing could be a solution to improving the quality of Pokemon. as much as people like to rag on BDSP I feel they were fine for Pokémon games.
I'll be honest. I'm going into the game under impression is not going to be perfect but will at least acknowledge it as a start to freshening up the series.
Thank you Sir. 👍Too many blind haters in the woods these days, with their naïve 'opinions'. Of course, it can improve and yes indeed Gamefreak should always put more effort. But for what it is, it's a great gem of an adventure, a blueprint for future titles (including a possible gen 9) that will only get better with polish and refinements I'm sure they will apply.
@@toastythomas Ok, yes I understand. But nor was I really but in his responses to me he was being awkward and wasn't presenting himself so well for a so-called 'content creator'. It's just that there are so many people saying the same old tired things citing features they want on the basis of treating this as a Xenoblade or actual Monster Hunter game. Why should Pokémon have to follow the crowd and lose it's identity and charm by characters belting out cringey and crummy accent dialogues?? I would hate that and anyway, people (who watch it) have the anime for that. My view here; but I feel Breath1 did it and while I admire Aonuma's bravery - Breath1 lost a lot of the 'soul' of Zelda; the inspiring and exciting dungeons were replaced with bland clones of enemies, snoozy shrines forever and shattering weapons in a bland Open world. The novelty wore off after 3-4 hours when you found out anything you fought for would break. Well, the Pokémon don't break! For me, Pokémon totally went in the right direction with Legends Arceus. The quirks, the fact that of course you don't want the place brimming with Poekmon that would be weird and unusual and just awkward in terms of the actual gameplay mechanics and element of surprise. Of course, there will be flaws; but these can always be applied in an update. Remember, this thing didn't even exist 365 days ago; it was only the (truly) disappointing Sword and Shield. People glaze over these facts and want a Pokémon Starfield in about 2 years turnover.
It looks like Monster Hunter but without the grand scale and plethora of options of playing that makes Monster Hunter beloved. I admit it might be unreasonable for me to expect them to go too far from the formula but it really does just look like the same typical Pokemon game but now you have to dodge a bit before getting into the actual battle. I left a comment in previouse video about the discussion of pricing in games and how I don't mind paying extra for shorter games if the experience is substantial since it feels like a lot of long games just drag out their limited content far beyond their actual enjoyment. I could be wrong, but it feels like it's going to be one of those games: Hours of content, all of it the same and none of it really fun.
Fortunately there is a ton of footage showing otherwise. And those who've been playing the game early have had nothing but good things to say about it, even former skeptics.
@@theinternetsightseer2935 I hope you're right and I'm just cynical but Pokemon has frequently been a series given a lot of leeway from fans so I'll wait 'till I see it.
I kinda wish a demo had been released given the attempt to mix things up. Still getting it on Friday and looking forward to seeing what it has to offer.
I’ve played the game for about 12ish hours now and so far I’m super conflicted on it. There’s some genuine strides here when it comes to menuing, wild battles, catching, animations, movement, all that stuff. The problem is that the game was so clearly rushed out, it’s easily the least polished game in the series and while I haven’t seen anything game breaking, it’s a super janky experience. The gameplay loop is also super repetitive and you’ll hardly be doing anything outside of searching, catching, and interacting with wild Pokémon (which is fun) and the occasional boss (the two I’ve fought were shallow). Your rewards for exploring are almost always Pokémon or crafting materials which are good motivators but eventually you start yearning for a cool hidden area or something. The music has been great so far, wasn’t a fan of the music in SWSH or BDSP but outside of a few stinkers the music here is real good, there’s even some adaptive stuff I noticed which is neato. It’s simultaneously the best mainline Pokémon in half a decade and a huge mess if that makes sense. I’ve been enjoying it but I have a bias towards the series, even I can acknowledge just how messy it really is. The state this game was released in is straight up embarrassing and the worst part is that it may take years and years for any of these improvements to show up outside of Legends. I don’t buy the idea that the next games aren’t releasing this year, there’s a reason they rushed this game out a mere two months after the remakes. I’d love to be proven wrong but Pokémon Day (a day that’s often ripe with announcements for the series) is about one month away after Legends Arceus releases.
@@BusyCapybara Nah but there’s versions of an emulator floating around that let you play the game with little to no issue before launch assuming you’re not using AMD over Nvidia. It’s crazy just how easy it is to get games working on them now.
@@ProtoBrown I dunno what you think I have to gain by lying to you but those were just my thoughts on the game so far. The gameplay loop almost entirely consists of gathering materials and catching Pokémon. Almost every side quest also feed into that loop of gathering and catching. I don’t even think it’s an unfun cycle but it’s absolutely repetitive in nature. Maybe the bosses get better later on but the two Noble Pokémon I’ve fought so far were very shallow, their attack patterns are extremely simple and you aren’t even required to fight them with your Pokémon. Alpha Pokémon are a lot more fun because you have to work around their powerful stats AND catching them rather than just picking a super effective move and KOing them. It’s totally fine if you don’t agree with any of this but don’t claim I haven’t played the game just because my opinion doesn’t line up with yours.
I’m playing Xenoblade 2 right now and I want a Pokémon game like it. You have other trainers with their own Pokémon in a trainer party and you have a combo system too. Imagine!
its because gamefreak chooses not to delay the game for long enough to take there time they know that they dont need to put in effort and people will just buy it because its pokemon
They can't delay it... Pokémon games have a strict deadline because it's a part of marketing campaign machinations that spans multiple media platform, delaying the game would delay EVERYTHING ELSE... Hence they can't delay it.
pokemon legends looks like a dream come true. And I've been shitting on pokemon for almost 13 years. I always hated it and other nintendo properties but I always wanted to like them. this looks like Pokemon adventures manga in video game form.
You don't have to worry about the side quests not being varied enough people who have played the game have said the quests are decently different from each other.
Cautious Optimism seems to be the best way to go about approaching this game. It's obvious that this game is trying something different which is good, but at the time what's been seen so far does appear typical. Waiting and seeing what others say post release is probably the best thing to do. I've been skeptical since announcement and this game has always been a "maybe, maybe not well see" on my list.
Honestly in my own opinion, Legends: Arceus didn't look like much when it first got announced and it still doesn't look like much to me. Just now everyone seems to be pinning their hopes on this game to reinvent pokemon or something probably cause people were a little disappointed with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Xenoblade chronicles was also pseudo openworld and the area's were so much fun to explore with a lot of interesting landmarks and sights. And that game was released on the wii 12 years ago...
I'm nervous but also excited But I agree that this game should of has a longer development, I know pokemon has always put gamplay and mechanics over graphics But they are at a point where that's not enough anymore, they need to work with more people and evolve the style and graphics, they have the money and power to do it but they have to give themselves time
As an early uh, "Adopter", shall we say, I can guarantee you that the game doesn't look any better hands-on. But the gameplay so far has been pretty fun when compared to previous mainline Pokemon games. Not to mention quite engaging. But yeah, I really wished the visuals or "Art direction" (if it even had one to begin with) wasn't as ugly and confused as it is right now. But who knows, maybe the sequel to this type of Pokemon game will look better as Game Freak would have learnt something from the development of Legends Arceus by now and will definitely be using those experience to improve the next entry in the series. But judging from their previous copy & paste work, I doubt that'll ever happen you know. Game Freak listening to actual feedbacks, complaints, and all that sh*t. You know how it is. Once they've struck gold, the Pokemon Company's gonna want GF to repeat the same formula with little to no innovations over and over until eventually people gets pissed off to hell again like they kinda still do now.
At this point, I've come to terms with the fact that Pokemon games will always look very cheap. There's nothing we can do about it. HOWEVER, I have seen from the leaks that there are a ton of improvements made in all the other departments, and the feedback about the game play loop has been very positive. I know pokemon fans are a little too easy to please, but I think I'll enjoy the game. (Tbh from what I've seen it probably isn't your type of game though)
@@ImmortalXGaming Pokémon is like the McDonald's of video games. There's a lot of better burger joints out there, but what McD have is always familiarity... That's what Pokémon is. You know what you're going to get, and people like it because of it.
@@ImmortalXGaming probably becuase alot of thoose sales were new fans also the people who complained still bought the game and ended up being disappointing this is why I'm asking op what does he mean pokemon fans are easily pleased.
I have similar concerns for Legends Arceus. Also glad to see you're looking forward to Elden Ring! I've never been big on the Souls games myself, but it's nice to see folks excited for a game they like.
I feel that even if the game is a bit meh, it will still be at least a small step in the direction that we're looking for. Hopefully the gen 9 games take a more experimental approach similar to this. This is their first try so I wouldn't imagine it being flawless anyway
Really hope I enjoy this one. I haven’t enjoyed a single Pokémon game since ORAS, and I only missed out on USUM, Let’s Go and BDSP. Have this one pre-ordered. This is what I’ve wanted Pokémon to be like for YEARS.
I am cautiously optimistic since they revealed the game. I’m optimistic that the game will be a step forward in some aspects, but I feel as though with more development time this could’ve been something even better. From the trailers and the leaks about the game that I’ve seen it looks fun and so after the game comes out I’ll wait a while to see what people think about it.
I am starting to think this will become a series of videos where Uncle Al would look at upcoming Nintendo Games and give his thoughts about it. I like both the Kirby video and this, I look forward to it!
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is very different from the other past Pokemon games because sometime a trainer need to dodge a wild Pokemon's attack instead the usual Pokemon battle to weaken a wild Pokemon before catching it. Watch some of the video on TH-cam of how to dodge even the legendary Pokemon like Palkia, Dialga, Giratina and Arceus is really hard 😒as it reminds me one of Nintendo sitch games like Zelda and Mario.
Although I am hyped for this game, the first time I've actually looked forward to a pokemon game since ultra moon (and that was a bit lackluster graphicwise, but nice storywise). I do agree with many of your points that it can be better and have more things to do than catch pokemon and have more landmarks than empty open areas. I do have some hope for this game as it is at least different than the original washed out formula. But if Nintendo is going to have to take baby steps into better more exciting games, then so be it. But yea, you're not alone in those concerns
A game makes you start to agree with Verlisify's opinion... Ya done goofed guys (I'll only go into more detail if someone asks lol. Give me a reason to rant.)
Fortunately, he is very wrong, as usual. There's hours of footage showing otherwise. And he really doesn't get to have an opinion about this since between his constant praising of bdsp as the best remakes and SS as the best in the series.
Exactly! That’s why I’m so annoyed when people say “it’s the breath of the wild for Pokémon.” Botw had things to look at. Cool places to explore. Meanwhile this game looks like it isn’t finished. Literally one guy made a video where he made his own legends arceus and the graphics didn’t look too different.
This is why I've never been a big fan of just making things "open world." They're games that can go very wrong if not done properly because sometimes there'll be this open world but nothing to do instead of there being cool areas to explore or things to do. I just haven't really seen anything that'll get me super interested. I have objectives where I catch Pokemon......aaaaand? They just haven't given me a very big and yet except maybe riding on Braviary. There's just so much nothing and the graphics aren't doing the heavy lifting so what am I looking forward to that isn't just catching Pokemon. I don't know, there's just a lot I'm skeptical about with this games, obviously I don't want it dumping all it's marbles on the floor like Sun and Moon and appreciate a game with surprises but with Pokemon I don't know whethertheir hiding stuff to be a surprise or if they just don't have anything else to show. I'm obvioulsly still somewhat excited since Pokemon is finally trying something new on a (seemingly) bigger scale and think it's a good time for that especially with SwSh being......SwSh and the DP remakes being absolute disappointments. I just hope it's not making a big deal out of basically nothing.
They should've taken the Semi-Open world aspects of Legends Arceus and made the Diamond and Pearl remakes WAY better than what they were. Now don't get me wrong, I love BDSP but it just feels like I'm playing Pokemon Let's Go but in the Sinnoh Region. I've seen trailers of a Diamond and Pearl remake that looked like it was done in the style of Legends Arceus but I guess Nintendo must've veto'd that to save some money when it would've definitely made them more money because people would've flipped their wigs over a remake like that
The cataloging of pokemon has always been my favorite aspect of the series (it's part of why I haven't been into it since Gen 3, there's just too many pokemon) Plus Pokemon Snap is my favorite experience the franchise offers So I think I might just enjoy this game quite a bit, but we'll see...
I personally think this game might end up being one of the best main line pokemon games in a LONG time. The ideas and mechanics, from what I saw from both the trailers and from leaked footage, look pretty fun imo, but the only thing that I'm worried about is the execution of those ideas and mechanics. Regardless, I believe this is the push that pokemon really needed and hopefully they use this game as a "base" for the next mainline pokemon games. Looking forward to playing it!
X/Y killed my interest in the game series. I do think L:A is a good step (not a big one), but the literal lack of footprints in the sand/snow seems indicative of the level of care they have for this game.
This game is going to be what decides if I'm still a Pokemon fan or not. Sword and Shield left me with a disappointment I've never felt before. I felt the game looked bland and boring for a while, but the leaks make the game seem much better. But the only people playing the game are the uber Pokémon fans so their bias is strong. I really really hope this game is good, but not holding my breath.
The game itself looks alright. I'm don't really play Pokemon games for the graphics, so that doesn't bother me, however the repetitive gameplay point you brought up seems like a very good point when looking at these quests. This is definitely a step in the right direction, however I have a feeling that I am going to be thinking the same thing as other recent Pokemon games: "With some more time, this could've been great". I am definitely not picking the game up on release as I made that mistake with BDSP (which wasn't bad, but I don't think it was worth $60). I will say the new Kirby game looks loads better and I will be picking that up as soon as I can. I really hope one day I can be excited about a new Pokemon game again.
The game looks like hot doodoo and the main quest focusing around catching Pokemon is very basic I was under the impression that this being a game about the Legend of Arceus, that the main goal would be related to meeting it and learning of Sinnohs lore. But it just seems that the lore will be more background filler until the last moment. Idk, I guess I expected too much out of this concept
still this game is in right direction, but yeah GF is lazy but i still praise for them to improve little by little (by downstep too lol) but still this game makes me hype for GEN 9, its still not gonna be a better visual than other SHITendo games, but at least its still interesting
I think I'm at a point where I just simply grew out of Pokémon, and this game just doesn't have anything that stands out to me visually to be worth the hype. I got Shining Pearl for that nostalgia rush, but that'll probably be the end of Pokémon for me afterwards.
Same here tbh. Diamond and Pearl were my favorite Pokemon games growing up but based on what I saw of those remakes, I skipped em. Disappointed, but maybe it's just me outgrowing Pokemon at this point.
I'm not putting anymore money towards a Pokemon game unless it's universally loved. BDSP kinda let me down and Shield was OK at best. I can't justify $60 for a game I don't even think I'll enjoy.
Pokemon already had a giant Open world game thats been out for a while it’s called pokemon go There are many secrets to find in this game for example; Grass touch it to gain one life
It genuinely just sucks that we're getting a region-wide forest with nothing but trees and occasional water locations. Like I could be fine with having a landscape that just existed as an excuse for me to go catch and battle with pokemon but neither of those things even look very fun. Like I can't believe this is the first pokemon game to introduce something like a power and speed type option. Like that kind of choice would have been greatly appreciated maybe like half a decade ago, but now it just feels like it's too little too late. It's hard to consider the pokemon combat system fun after playing a plethora of other and just better monster collector games. I love the pokemon designs but the fact that we're left with such a shallow way to engage with them in combat is disappointing. To me it just feels like they don't understand what people want and they just refuse to innovate any further than giving us a different way to do what we've always done. Sure, sneaking up to pokemon and throwing the ball at them is different from just selecting the option from a menu, but it achieves the same goal and presents nothing really meaningful. I think they should have embraced the pre-modern thing a little harder and just made pokeballs work completely differently. Like instead of just zapping them into the balls like we're used to, we could have done a more monster hunter approach and lured them into traps or something. I don't know what could have been done that would have made this game seem more fun than it looks, I just wish it did.
If there's any IP that could probably do open-world well it'd be Pokemon given adventure and wanderlust are some of the themes every installment has as its premise. But this, frankly, looks dead. Environments look lifeless and the art's passable but the Pokemon stand out a little too much compared to everything you're looking at; like they've been Photoshopped in. It's weird - Not quite uncanny valley but very....noticeable? Honestly this reminds me of Dynasty Warriors 9 and its attempts to do open-world stuff ages after the hype for that genre dwindled. And just like this is already looking, 9 was a soulless resource collect-a-thon that missed the point of why people play it. Difference here being that 9 was essentially a different game that forsook its roots to be a collect-a-thon whereas Arceus is staying true to its roots but has only increased its scope in-name-only and seems oriented ONLY around the collection while doing little else. Even with its built-in brand-advantage, this looks more like a beta-tier tech-demo than a game.
I think for RPGs especially it’s really important to have a world that’s interesting to look at/explore. One of my favorite rpgs of all time, earthbound, was released with the technical limitations of the SNES but still has one of the most interesting worlds of any rpg I’ve ever played. So they can definitely make it interesting with the limitations of the switch, the thing is, will they put forth the effort?
It also feels really concerning how "hush hush" they've been about this game. Like...we haven't seen any of the new forms (officially) other than like the 3 Pokemon. They haven't showed us any of those huge Pokemon or hyped up Arceus itself. And there hasn't even been like a Direct or anything substantial for marketing in the lead up to this. It really feels like Game Freak has no confidence in this game.
Hate me if I'm going to say this but I think Legend Arceus looks bad don't get me wrong if you play if you like it You can disagree with me that's fine but I just don't want to support the Pokemon company anymore too corporate
It's missing something like Korok seeds... there should have been several mini-puzzles that require specific Pokemon abilities to complete scattered around the world... just that would have made the open world more interesting.
Please be good. Please let me be wrong. Please let this be amazing, prove me wrong with egg on my face, and let me love Pokemon again! LET ME GIVE POKEMON MONEY AGAIN! PLEASE! PLEASE DON'T MAKE IT THE SECOND FO76 FOR POKEMON!
I fell outta the Pokémon wagon since Pokémon X. And seeing what has happened with the mainline games, I say I made the right choice. In my personal opinion - IF you were considering getting Legends, just keep the money.
I feel like this game is a experiment and they're trying something new (like what AL said) but I do understand the criticism skepticism. Who knows maybe they'll improve the next Legends game if they make another one, but if Pokemon continues being Pokemon I doubt we'll see any improvement but let's hope I'm wrong.
I remember feeling hyped for this game and I said this will not be my obligatory buy until I saw more gameplay and cool stuff But the trailers didn't showed anything more than you can go outside and meet those characters This would be 10000 times better if this had stuff like castles and more towns/buildings nobody remembers pokemon places like OH YES ROUTE 69, no, pokemon always has pushed more memorable cities with buildings and stuff like that. I think they didn't confirmed normal battles against trainers so it feels more empty when removing the other thing that makes routes shine by their own (My baby typhlosion looks like shit btw)
I can't believe Pokemon was the reason I got into Dragon Quest 11 on the Switch... and that game is UGLY, but the story and environments had SO MUCH care. With this game I was expecting the environments to be MORE than mountains and forests. Like taking Pokemon lore to the next level. For example: "This Pokemon is causing the trees to come to life!!! Run for your life!!!". "LOOK AT THE SIZE OF GROUDON! WE GETTING SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS HERE!". "WE BUILT A TOWN ON A SLEEPING POKEMON WHO WALKS LATER ON IN THE GAME. Follow him around and he could lead to secrets"
I never really looked into this game that much, however, hearing your take on it is pretty much something to be skeptic about. And after you brought up the missions being like "catching this pikeman, get this stick, get be some berries," I do feel as if they are trying to lean into more of a monster hunter like aspect for Pokemon. As, interesting as that sounds it would be technically a clone of Monster Hunter but with Pokemon, furthermore, let's take Elden Rings for an example granted I haven't played that game yet but I have seen, and heard some good things about it. Where the open world aspect gives you dungeons, stealth options, gather items to be ready for another fight or to craft, and bosses that would be coming for you before you even know it. Even though, Elden Rings is like Dark Souls, combined with Shadows Dies Twice, it technically kinda has it's own Identity.
Omg I’m so surprised that the fields that we see in the trailer are so barren even though this game takes place in ancient times before civilization was able to create such landmarks, yeah this game looks like shit thanks so much for your genius enlightenment
I compare to the graphics to Breath of the Wild, a game that came out in 2017 that was made with both WiiU and Switch specs in mind and manages to look absolutely stunning and lush on the Switch. The terrain textures weren't the best in BotW because, it's still the switch, not expecting 4k textures here, but they at least hide it with all the grass, flora, and other set pieces. However, Legends Arceus does neither of these things, you see the ugly terrain textures, it doesn't have grass as lush as BotW, it legit feels like I'm playing an older game from like Wii or XBox 360, like OG Skyrim on XBox 360 and it's terrain looked ugly, but now give it less grass. Thats how this game looks to me. NOW I totally understand graphics aren't everything, and I agree. But the gameplay... I dunno... It's always been a HUGE red flag for me when a game doesn't show off too much gameplay, like ACTUAL gameplay, not oooooooo~ running through the fields, ooooooo flying and gliding. I'm talking, this is what the game will be like when you play it. The most I get from it is just the more seamless battles and that you can get killed now, that's about it. I'm thinking about getting this game, BUT I'm waiting at least like a few weeks, get some reviews and updates in then see how I feel if I want to actually commit to getting it.
I always say that Pokémon is like the McDonald's of video games, they won't change much because their strength is in "familiarity". People know when they go to McDonald's what kind of food experience they're going to get no matter where they are in the world. Same as Pokémon, people know what gaming experience they're going to get no matter what gen it is. Not taking chances to "push the envelope" isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes you just want same old same old
At least McDonald's always changes up their toys. Okay, personally I don't care for McDonald's toys anymore. I was just trying to make comparisons. I'm trying to say the main focus of Pokemon these days is just making some newer looking Pokemon. Whether it be actually new Pokemon or newer forms for previous Pokemon. The games are just there as an excuse to make new Pokeys.
@@phorchybug3286 that's the thing, the new Pokémon is the new toys, the game itself is the bland burgers. As I said, being familiar doesn't have to be considered bad. Many people want those familiarity in things they consume.
The concerns are definitelyValidated. Sword and shield actively hurt me as a Pokemon fan, and it was the final straw that broke my back. If I'm ever getting Pokemon games now, I will wait and see. If there's not too much backlash, the most I'm going to do is maybe rent it.
I'm being cautious. I haven't bought a Pokemon game since Y and so far nothing past that game has enticed me to come back. Mostly because of them reusing the same formula with negligible differences. Just got burnt on that front. Legends Acreus just looks barren. I would compare it to Horizon Zero Dawn when it comes to the open world. I don't think the game has anything to keep me interested. I can tell you that Breath of the Wild does a much better job than what Horizon has done and Acreus is trying to do.
I genuinely feel bad that Uncle Al can’t openly criticize Nintendo games without starting out with disclaimers before he expresses his opinion. Nintendo fanboys are a different breed.
That seems to be pokemon in recent times. Just the bare bones of the experience and not much extra to do. Even this seems to be the same, just now you have slightly more open environments with *nothing* in them, and the battles look slightly different... Slightly. Its still the same models and animations all the way back from X and Y.
This pokemon is the step into the direction that the next game will be called Pokemon Pong for 60$ and you boyz will buy it i mean hey even it has Atari 2600 graphic it is something new and you want to have it i mean c‘mon it has Pokemon on it. So many blind sheeps just buy everything regardless how bad it is. It is a sad world.
Deep down inside of me the kid that loves Pokémon is always curious to see if this game will actually be worth buying, but the cynical adult I have become expects it to be a lackluster title that will still be eaten up by the rabid fan base.
I get exactly what you mean about the second hand embarrassment thing regarding the graphics. Like somehow I cringe when they do the whole "emotional Breath of the Wild epic shot with piano" thing, then its just one of the ugliest first party games you've ever laid eyes on lol. Other than that the gameplay from what I've seen looks to be a decent step up and I feel like if they actually implement this into the mainline games and take time between releases (which, knowing Gamefreak, they won't) then Pokémon would be much less embarrassing to play.
It’s more like the Pokémon company not letting gamefreak take time to do anything than anything. TPC is letting this drop in quality happen because they know it’s gonna be a big seller anyway so why wait
I haven't played a pokemon game in years and remember thinking to my self watching the trailer is, wow the world of pokemon looks bland Also could you keep the squidward eyes in the thumbnails for future vids haha
It feels like the game was made with the budget of 500$ and the "studio" behind it where 5 friends/fans that made it out of pure passion... and it feels like those 5 friends could do a better job if they had a year to make it. I like the idea but I cant help but feel like it is a cash grab based on what we got.
Just imagine this game with 1-3 more years of development, and imagine how good the game will be with those years of development..
@@TheClassicnathan
KH3 had problems because of Disney. Story pacing being bad was because of Disney, the Disney worlds are seen as the worst part of it, etc
That's why Re:Mind ended up so well in the eyes of the fanbase, because they weren't being limited by Disney in it
Hearing a lot of your points has kinda opened my mind to what legends arceus seems to be missing that I never understood.
It isn't though, this is a big open world with a shitty ai. It feels like the most basic of what an open world game is.

@@netweed09 I'm not saying Al is a blind hater. I'm just saying we should go into the game with low expectations.
I totally agree, just to temper out expectations and options on a potentially divisive game.
Uncle sir it's 11pm I'm trying to sleep.
I'll wait until they have this gameplay style but with pokemon snap graphic
You have a modded switch?
@@BusyCapybara Nah but there’s versions of an emulator floating around that let you play the game with little to no issue before launch assuming you’re not using AMD over Nvidia. It’s crazy just how easy it is to get games working on them now.
I’m just gonna say this now, anyone who says the gameplay is repetitive and bosses are shallow hasn’t actually played the game.
Can i talk to u about my life
I’m playing Xenoblade 2 right now and I want a Pokémon game like it. You have other trainers with their own Pokémon in a trainer party and you have a combo system too. Imagine!
I used to think as a kid Pokemon was a tv Franchise and the games were just shovelware tie-ins
They might as well be
its because gamefreak chooses not to delay the game for long enough to take there time they know that they dont need to put in effort and people will just buy it because its pokemon
They can't delay it... Pokémon games have a strict deadline because it's a part of marketing campaign machinations that spans multiple media platform, delaying the game would delay EVERYTHING ELSE... Hence they can't delay it.
Never thought I’d see the day where Al is looking forward more to a new Kirby game than a new Pokémon game.
pokemon legends looks like a dream come true.
I'm nervous but also excited
But I agree that this game should of has a longer development, I know pokemon has always put gamplay and mechanics over graphics
But they are at a point where that's not enough anymore, they need to work with more people and evolve the style and graphics, they have the money and power to do it but they have to give themselves time
Super happy to see more Al+ content! 🙂
Wdym by pokemon fans are to easy to please bro when they found sword and shield didn't have a national dex they got pisssssed.

I have similar concerns for Legends Arceus.
Also glad to see you're looking forward to Elden Ring!
I've never been big on the Souls games myself, but it's nice to see folks excited for a game they like.
Just uncle al talking bringz me joy
As a guy who has seen the leaks but doesn't want to spoil it for those who haven't, I'll just say there are DEFINITELY some surprises in store!
I am starting to think this will become a series of videos where Uncle Al would look at upcoming Nintendo Games and give his thoughts about it. I like both the Kirby video and this, I look forward to it!
Basically
This game isn't Donkey Kong
It's trash
??? What lol
*"Pokemon Go of the wild" is looking good XD*
Pokkén Tournament is the pokemon game
I dreamed of and it could progress so much!
Yo liking the regular uploads again :]
A game makes you start to agree with Verlisify's opinion...
Ya done goofed guys
(I'll only go into more detail if someone asks lol. Give me a reason to rant.)
Fortunately, he is very wrong, as usual. There's hours of footage showing otherwise. And he really doesn't get to have an opinion about this since between his constant praising of bdsp as the best remakes and SS as the best in the series.
@@theinternetsightseer2935
Wait he what???
I love the Squidward scrunched face in these thumbnails
I've seen trailers of a Diamond and Pearl remake that looked like it was done in the style of Legends Arceus but I guess Nintendo must've veto'd that to save some money when it would've definitely made them more money because people would've flipped their wigs over a remake like that
The cataloging of pokemon has always been my favorite aspect of the series (it's part of why I haven't been into it since Gen 3, there's just too many pokemon)
Plus Pokemon Snap is my favorite experience the franchise offers
So I think I might just enjoy this game quite a bit, but we'll see...
It looks like it won't even be hard to find Pokemon. They are all out in the open.
Dear god I’m beginning to worry Pokémon might be developing it’s own variant of the sonic cycle.
Gameplay matters to me the most. I'm still looking forward to playing this game.
My only concern is the main challenge of the pokémon games were super tough trainers/gym leaders and i see none of that in the trailer
The only Pokemon game I want right now is the Mystery Dungeon Explorers Deluxe which I hope is coming soon. Really enjoyed the Rescue Team remake.
Pokemon Legends Arceus Looks...
With its eyes.
im just kinda here waiting for digimon survive or the next rumored digimon world game to give me my light rpg fix
The game looks like hot doodoo and the main quest focusing around catching Pokemon is very basic
I was under the impression that this being a game about the Legend of Arceus, that the main goal would be related to meeting it and learning of Sinnohs lore.
There are so many trees I wonder if this is Blair Witch: The Video Game. 😅
Pokemon already had a giant Open world game thats been out for a while
it’s called pokemon go
There are many secrets to find in this game for example;
Grass touch it to gain one life

The reason why the landscape is so barren is because it takes place centuries in the past. So not alot of things would be built yet.
The hours of footage are showing otherwise.
I'm waiting a whole Month before picking it up. I haven't had a need for this game for a while
Well uncle Al you did made a promise to make a Pokémon video
Hate me if I'm going to say this but I think Legend Arceus looks bad don't get me wrong if you play if you like it You can disagree with me that's fine but I just don't want to support the Pokemon company anymore too corporate
It's missing something like Korok seeds... there should have been several mini-puzzles that require specific Pokemon abilities to complete scattered around the world... just that would have made the open world more interesting.
3 video within a week, nice
Please be good. Please let me be wrong. Please let this be amazing, prove me wrong with egg on my face, and let me love Pokemon again!
LET ME GIVE POKEMON MONEY AGAIN!

I remember feeling hyped for this game and I said this will not be my obligatory buy until I saw more gameplay and cool stuff
But the trailers didn't showed anything more than you can go outside and meet those characters
This would be 10000 times better if this had stuff like castles and more towns/buildings nobody remembers pokemon places like OH YES ROUTE 69, no, pokemon always has pushed more memorable cities with buildings and stuff like that. I think they didn't confirmed normal battles against trainers so it feels more empty when removing the other thing that makes routes shine by their own
(My baby typhlosion looks like shit btw)
Amazing video
Overhyped and people are excited for the littlest shit because their standards are so damn low.
Idk, it just looks like higher-definition Pixelmon to me.
Very well said
Pokemon knows they can release trash games and still get million$ from fanboys. No need to put in any effort!
That seems to be pokemon in recent times. Just the bare bones of the experience and not much extra to do. Even this seems to be the same, just now you have slightly more open environments with *nothing* in them, and the battles look slightly different... Slightly. Its still the same models and animations all the way back from X and Y.
It looks good but since its single player only I'll give it a pass. For now at least
*Uncle Al Arceus Pokémon are Digimon XD*
I don't mind I love your casual discussions. I mostly just love hearing your voice... voices?
Why buy it when I can watch playthroughs for free or just pirate it point is its not worth the money.
I don’t agree with piracy , but even the pirates have said it worth the money.
Considering that promos for new pokemon games spoil everything there is to offer within the game, this game frightens me.
But in this games case, the hours of leaked footage are showing otherwise.
Epic
I haven't played a pokemon game in years and remember thinking to my self watching the trailer is, wow the world of pokemon looks bland
Also could you keep the squidward eyes in the thumbnails for future vids haha
It feels like the game was made with the budget of 500$ and the "studio" behind it where 5 friends/fans that made it out of pure passion... and it feels like those 5 friends could do a better job if they had a year to make it.
I like the idea but I cant help but feel like it is a cash grab based on what we got.
Hey Al. What is your favorite game of all time?
Beta version of zelda botw
