We palapate last for a couple of reasons. If there is pain, the patient may refuse further assessment. Palpating is known to increase bowel sounds - and you want to assess them without having influencing a change.

How does changing the order of these steps affect the bowel sound? And sometimes, why do we palpate last?
We palapate last for a couple of reasons. If there is pain, the patient may refuse further assessment. Palpating is known to increase bowel sounds - and you want to assess them without having influencing a change.

Wooooow wuuup ... 👏👏👏👏
Medical School assessment coming up. Inspection is awkward. Percussion I feel I'm pounding my hands and it hurts-help! hanks
You got this! And yes, percussion can feel like it hurts - for me it’s the nails striking down on the bone
Is IPPA the correct order or it should be IAPP
IPPA for everything but the abdomen (which I realize I show the abdominal assessment). You are correct to auscultate before you palpate
Thank you
😊
Tq mam u explain very will
awesome!
Thank u
thanks
You’re welcome
Great video
From IQ
Thank you
I have no one to practice on 😃
Many don't
ATI is pushing I, A, Pe, Pa... I think ATI is the worse!
What is ATI?
For the abdomen, auscultate before percussion and palpation so you do not influence the assessment
This is great but your pronunciation of some common words throws me off lol.....
Ha ha. that is fun to hear - I find that too when I work with people who have a different way of saying things lol
