i am hooked on the Red Rising series. i just finished the third book (Morning Star) and i cannot get enough. it is so amazingly written, ALL the characters have back stories and fleshed out personalities, everything in the book matters (there’s no fluff), the politics & world building is unbelievable. im just obsessed. my mom is currently reading my copy of Iron Gold so i need to wait until she is finished. but after Morning Star i definitely need a quick, light read that isn’t so emotionally taxing😂

I'm reading a short stories collection and one of the stories is (basically) sherlock holmes fanfiction, so it reignited my love for Holmes and I'm planning to reread his stories next month😅
Dang the way you described Red Rising makes me want to read it now!! All I keep reading and hearing is "Hunger Games in space!" And it didn't seem like something I'd care for. But I think you've convinced me!! My reading wrap-up has been The Summer I Turned Pretty, Everyone in my Family Has Killed Someone, Happy People Are Annoying, Hellbent, and a reread of HP & The Philosphers Stone.
it’s so much more than “hunger games in space” imo! it definitely has that strong element accompanied by loads of sociopolitical commentary, but it expands far wider than just that comp, especially in book 2 and on❤ definitely worth the read!

On YellowFace, I agree that many of things definitely could have happened in real life today. Which is why I was kind of underwhelmed. I thought it was going to be a wild satire, like Bunny type ending. But the ending of YF was a let down. I wish it leaned more in to the horror/ghostiness it hinted at.

I got halfway through Daisy Jones and temporarily dnfed it. I think I wasn’t in the right head space for it. I love TJR. Rn I am 33% into Kindred by Octavia Butler and I’m enjoying it. You know you’re enjoying a book when you can’t wait to get back into it when you’re away. I love seeing your 5 stars. They are always an automatic add to my amazon cart 😅
I’ve seen Villains Are Destined To Die at my library and have been debating picking it up! My favorite recent reads are Tidesong and Laura Dean Keeps Breaking up With me
DNFed Starless Sea 🤭 It's a lot of people's favorite book or loved it but I didn't even so far as like. Morgenstern's writing was so atmospheric and detailed which I did like. However, there's nothing about the book that excites me. I know that it is intended to be a vibe-y book but it is most definitely a book I did not vibe with. Whenever I read the book, and would have to put it down to do something, nothing pulls me back to wanting to read the book again
