      reubens meagher yeah, but he'd probably have to do it upside down hanging in through an open hatch if he wants to get back out again XD

    Everyone's all excited about the ELC and I'm just here thinking how awesome it is they have a Priest lol. ELC is awesome too though of course. Also serious props to the French for keeping all their stuff in such good condition, there's no way that's cheap. It warms my heart, and makes me sad Aberdeen is letting some of it's stuff rot.

    • @quentintin1
      @quentintin1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      the maintenance crew is very limited so really a part of the collection is rotting outside due to a lack of space, the B-C 25t and the B1 demineur were sitting outside untill recently
      they got a complete collection of the AMX 13 family but most of them are sitting outside again due to lack of space

    "Can't get to it from the front, they really jammed it in"... That's the great thing about the ELC, you can park it anywhere and it fits. it's like the Mini Cooper of tanks...
    "We'll be back later" Hopefully with more Bat Chat 25t next time :)

    • @dfadgsadfga1816

      dfadg sadfga Back in 2014 SilentStalker published pictures of it in that condition in his For The Record blog, but fairly recently he published new pictures (or maybe it was the Status Report blog, can't remember exactly) of it in good restored (at least externally) condition.

    Good morning Chieftain!
    The tracked vehicle at 3:00 is very similar(from what I saw) to the Borgward special purpose vehicles(Sd.kfz. 301,if I remember correctly).
    And you asked on the previous video why the ZiS-2 57 mm is in the Cold War section?Along with a few 45 mm M1942s,it was the backbone of the light anti-tank batteries of armies 'helped' by the Soviets during the Cold War for quite a while.

    I'm fairly certain the audience is interested in the ELC for no other reason than to see if it is humanly possible to fit a full crew inside it. Also, because it's so damn short you can pat it on the top of the turret like a puppy dog.

    There is a DUKW and an LVT right down the road from where I live in Michigan. I die a little on the inside whenever I drive by because they are just sitting there rotting away. The worst part is that they are parked under a pair of pine trees so you just know that there must be loads of dried tree sap having dripped down into them.

    Hm how much would it cost to reproduce an ElC and make it street legal

    • @ssisk87
      @ssisk87 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Most of the reason why tanks aren't always street legal is weight and metal tracks tearing up the roads...
      ELC is so light, and has rubber padded tracks meaning that probably all you'd need is proper mirrors and signals... and a license plate.
      Cost: Probably like 20-30,000 considering you can buy a T-55A for around 50,000-70,000 USD... (70,000 if you want it restored to museum, running condition before it is shipped to your place of storage...)

  • @420choochy
    @420choochy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    I believe the reason why everyone wants to see you in an ELC ,is to watch your tall frame try to fit into a small tank,same principle of people wanting to see a square peg fit into a round hole . I'm sure you realize this already. DO INSIDE THE HATCH ON THE MERKAVA PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE!!!!!

    • @Maratusvolans
      @Maratusvolans 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought the Merkava was super secret?

    • @MightyBjorn
      @MightyBjorn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is... I know little details about the Merkava and I was an M1A1 crewman. Kind of was my job to know about armored vehicles all over the world. I know 4 details on the Merkava. It has a 120mm autoloading cannon. It has a turbine engine. It's armor is composite like the armor on the M1 Abrams. The Merkava is one of the best tanks in the world right now, if not the best.

    • @w2-automotive466
      @w2-automotive466 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      420choochy well that and I just want to see what the hell the inside looks like on that tank. other than that its just for lols

    • @MightyBjorn
      @MightyBjorn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I recall, the MK 3 has a turbine.

    • @MightyBjorn
      @MightyBjorn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry I was wrong. It is a diesel engine but I do recall about information the the Merkava was to be getting a turbine engine. May be is was a prototype or it just never got approval.

      That's why the placement of the vehicles change regularly. They remove some tanks from the museum and replace them with some from the reserve. That's why the ELC is stored here, last time i visited it was visible in the museum itself.

It appears to be a modified AT-P artillery tractor (itself derived from the ASU-57) equipped for radio jamming. I was in the 1st ID during Desert Storm and we brought one of these back although it disappeared shortly after.

    I wonder if there would be enough people interested to make a run of reproduction FTs. It's a manageable size for one or two people, put a modern small diesel in it and you could have a fun toy to take to the 4WD park.
