- Test out then taking a look inside a Sony CCD-V8AF Video 8 Camcorder.
The camera and recorder are separate units inside.
Trying to put it back together a few weeks later from memory proved a bit difficult. The quality of the construction is a bit questionable.

As you probably could have guessed, my favorite part is the close look at the small CRT. But it was also cool to see how Sony was able to fold up and sandwich so many circuitboards together. They were really the masters of miniaturization and making things small.
It id quite a good and accessible arrangement of boards around the VCR mechanism.
You are super talented! these things are built like space stations, i tried fixing my ccd-v100e but i almost crapped out when i opened it. The camcorder in the vid is 1984-1985 model i think. I have one too.

I really like taking things like this apart. It is interesting to see how well (or not well) it is constructed. How serviceable it is and if it can be put back together easily.

The auto-focus on that old camcorder was probably much better than the one on the camera you were using to record this video... 🙄
Probably. Some days my camera focus very well and others it does not. I don't know why that is. Turning the camera off and on again will usually improve it.
Thank you so much for this video , in order to deep clean my sony i thought i would be a great idea to take the viewfinder of .... As seen in de video the board is not really secured and ending up ripping the connector from the board after some soldering and putting down a wire for the broken trace everything (apart from autofocus) works again with a little help from your video i was able to put it back together again as the repair took longer then i expected i did not really remember that part of where everything went😅

surplusshed has these their new old stock have new boards minus the lens you just swap out the old bord for the new one and your good to go, how much? $16.00 shipping about 6 bux more i'l pick one up if you want to put a new board in yours, you get all the boards

was the viewfinder VF-235 or VF-236?
It is VF-206
My cassette/tape compartment does not open, but I hear a sound when I turn on the camera. Any suggestions?
Is there a belt slipping?
I can't remember how the eject mechanism works in these. In there any clues in the video. You might have to take yours apart to investigate. Might need a lot of capacitors replacing if you want to get it working well.
My grandpa had one but it was stolen
