I have this vcr with me the power supply is not working. Some of the circuits have corrosion and not readable specially the thinner copper prints. It will be helpfull to me to work on it. I have this for almost 33 years
How can I eject the cassette stuck inside and the power supply is not working. Give me the schematic diagram of the power supply.and the actual picture of the circuit board assembly
Google search for the service manual. Will depend why the cassette is stuck. Usually you can remove it by running the mechanism in the unload direction.
@Elecami Wolf it would be nice if you could share us it's service manual as well?
You can find it by google search.
I want G500 serket plz help me
Google search for the service manual.
@ i will search on google but i cannot find it Kindly send on my mail
I'm not sure if there was a colour camera from that era that had more light sensitivity than the A2. They were outstanding for low light performance for their time. Newvicons were also extremely resistant to image burn in. They could lag a little on highlights but no image sticking. Such a leap forward from the previous models all round.
Thanks for the video, nice little tube camera! It seems National did some homework miniaturizing internals after their "VZ-Cxx" lineup. I have VC-C75 and it has pretty much the same arrangement, similar video ICs and power board, but it is bigger. 13:18 - not really, camera is misadjusted, there should not be such a green tint. 29:02 - I'd not call that small corrosion "a write-off", I've restored much worse than that 39:39 - that's partially a ROM (that's why it has a window), but it is also a special IC that is paired to the tube (and those should be replaced together). IC is called "FAMOS IC" and it manages dynamic beam focusing, dynamic color correction and dynamic bias compensation for the pickup tube. And the coefficients/tables for those corrections are written into the EPROM on the die. 43:09 - wow, IR filter is just snapped on, that's good to know, 'cause it is all dead and blacked out on my VZ-C75. And please, don't trash the pickup tube, keep it as space (together with FAMOS IC). Or sell those.
I bought one of those along with a NV-180 and lugged it around for years. Even so I loved using it. Seeing the complexity inside the camera it's no wonder they cost so much. Thanks for the video.
2nd VTR also maybe problem with idler tyre. I have from National / Panasonic NV-H70, NV-810, NV-850 in all has been changed this part , it´s common problem with this type Panasonic/National mechanics
Yes, Idler tire is usually worn out on these models.
Can this is brand-new
Can this is not-english
It is old.
Can you tell me the price of this NV-M3 when it is on the market? I have one at home.
About $10 to $50, depends on how badly someone wants it. Probably going to need a lot of work to restore it to good working order.
I have one of these and my wifi has died. I can’t seem to reconnect to my home network.
Use Ethernet cable. More reliable and better performance.
I want working power supply of this model. National NV G500 EM.anyone selling
Probably need to fine another VCR and take the power supply from it.
Can you send me the schematic diagram of the power supply and the actual assembly picture. Please if you can. My power supply had cap leaking and ruined the pc board circuits. Specially where he output is connected to the motherboard.
@@ferntom6092 You can find it by google search.
I'm with you, I've always felt bad scrapping something that's in perfectly good working order that either I had no use of or I didn't have all the parts necessary to make it work (such as a video camera that didn't have the portable VCR to record onto).
Yea, it is a shame. Sometimes I try sell it cheap and get no interest. Usually I have already saved it from landfill etc, so not that bad to scrap it.
Does it play either NTSC (outside Japan) and PAL VHS and S-VHS tapes?
NTSC Only. I don't know if there was a PAL version made.
@@Elecami Perhaps you need an cassette tape that is even recorded on an foreign television channel that is PAL, and put it on that same player. Wish I Had one of these.
@DjoleBuduciIlustrator The color signal is encoded differently with PAL and NTSC. The device must have specific support for either or both formats.
That display is a gas-plasma panel! Monochrome predecessor of plasma TV panels and used on some laptops in the 80s.
Yes! I have seen those on old Laptop / Luggable, I should have mentioned on the video. I also have one attached to a small 286 system. I should dig that out sometime. It said "EL" on the board...
Where did u order the panel pls?
Contact samsungparts.com/ Or your local equivalent.

What is this?
How can I buy a panel for a 55"? to swap out?
Contact your local Samsung spare parts supplier. Eg: samsungparts.com/ With the part number you need and they will get it for you.
If you're able to import, you can now find multiplugs in South Africa that contain the new type N standard, which in my opinion is currently the best standard nobody uses yet. Even better than the swiss one. Though finding appliances or even kettle cords is very rare still, despite the socket gaining traction.
I would rather use the Japanese style pugs, much nicer.
@Elecami they seem kind of dangerous honestly 🤣
@@CeasiusC They are fine. Nice and compact.
Those are those first vcrs from like 1975 to 80
From the good old days.

@Elecami No eBay in Papua New Guinea
@@B.Ruslan1978 There will be some local equivalent.
We still have the NV8610, but unfortunately a multi tension transformer the machine has inside was gone decades ago, and the technician was unable to get a replacement at the time. Now, I would like to find a replacement of this part in order to come back the VCR to life. Great memories, we bought it new at 1977 or 78, at a cost of 93.000 pesetas at the time (something like 600 USD or EUR, a lot of money in 1977)
Unusual to have a transformer fail. Maybe caused by something like a shorted rectifier. Might be able to get one custom made if you cant find another machine to take a transformer from.
@Elecami Thanks for the answer! As far as I remember (it happened in the first 90s or last 80s), one bad technician bridged a fuse and that was the cause of the disaster. A second technician later diagnosed the fault. We still have the broken transformer with its wires apart. I hope no more componentes are involved in the fault. Regards from Spain :)
@@galimusic7164 Probably was a real problem causing the fuse to blow.
How would you image the drives? Using disc genius The drives seem to have nothing on them? One drive appears to be unformatted. Anyone help ? Thanks
Maybe Linux dd can do it?
@ Thanks for this. I have never used Linux though. Will give it a go.
is it possible to use the lens of this camera on the new Sony RX0m2 ? (i.e. remove the sensor and put this lens on the RX0m2 sensor.) or just make a fully manual lens with a c-mount and use with RX0m2 ? I want to use a faster lens (possibly a zoom lens) on the Sony RX0m2.
Probably not, unless you are prepared for a lot of work. The image sensors would need to be the same size.
I've got 2 stored away. The sound quality was absolutely staggering from these. I had a Panasonic tx25a2x tv with the dome sound system. Best sounding tv i ever had. 👌
Hopefully they stay in good condition.
I've taken apart related Sony gear. The encoders for the smaller knobs felt amazing.
Good quality stuff.
I always love taking apart old electronics like that and salvaging parts from the boards. Some of those old parts you just can't find any more and they could be used to make some pretty unique looking projects.
Good way to find interesting components.
28:10 Those look like the patented Bill West (William J. West) switches. US Patent 4017700 29:35 The 1820-2137 should be a standard MC68A00P CPU.
Does look like those switches. These ones are either worn out or very bad. Difficult to push, they don't slide smoothly.
So the difference between "regular" G2 and omnicept is just eye-tracking feature? Visuals are the same? Also curios what are you playing )
Differences are the sensors: Eye tracking, mouth camera and Pulse Rate. Along with the head band being different, worse than the regular G2 in my opinion. I play VRChat. It is a way to experience events like going to night clubs / movie theatres, explore amazing places etc in VR and meet up with people.
@@Elecami Thank you for your detailed answer, yes i had HP once, i think it was the first revision. Switched back to lenovo explorer bec i play only beat saber 99% of the time and HP is just too heavy.. But recently discovered UEVR and its great to play a shooter in VR and now again thinking maybe to get old G2 just for that. VRchat is cool, yet if we only could find more time in our lives for our real friends..
@@irgendna Just be aware Window Mixed Reality has been removed from Windows 11, you need to keep Windows 10 to use it.

Format the memory card? Probably.
This is a really great video, will be much help as I try to fix my valve index which has started failing display initialization. I don't know if it's the motherboard or the I/O board. If you have a guess let me know. Thanks!
It could also be the cable. I don't have much experience with debugging Index Headset, this was my first time to take them apart.
The Panasonic ShrekCam™️
It's a good one.
Thx for the videos, they're really good to have for servicing Btw why do you take these apart? Do you have so much gear that a lot of it is beyond repair?
Thanks. I scrap some and keep others. I have way too much stuff I have ran out of space.
What kind of battery does this camera use?
I don't know, this one came with nothing other than what you see in the video. I think the battery type would depend on what battery housing is mounted to the back. It looks like there would be different options for it.
It's a rebranded Panasonic. Spent many hours on those machines, the best of the 1/2" era before S-VHS and digital.
They were branded Panasonic in some regions where there was a naming conflict. Everywhere else and Japan they are National. More recently the Panasonic naming was adopted worldwide.
if I want to connect it to modern tv do i need to use al 4 in outs or i can use just two of them ?
You would need to TV with composite video input or use an adapter from video to HDMI. It might be difficult to get a nice picture on a new TV because the VHS signal quality is poor.
when I connect a usb voltmeter directly to my Lenovo charger without connecting to laptop , I get no reading.. connetcing with usb extension to laptop and still no voltage . strange ??
It will only output when connected to a device or PD trigger of some sort. Not sure about USB extension, would depend if it is rated for USBC PD.
Just about to get one of these too. Would be interesting to see if a SSD will definitely work and what specific ide to sata interface will work.
I think you would need to copy what id on the existing drives to new drives for it to work. Not sure if it is fussy with drive type.
Will try this idea
Hopefully it may work either way a SsD with an IDE to sata adapter

Now that’s a dope looking camera. I want so bad but probably hard to find one in working order. I have a SVHS VCR and a basic consumer SVHS-C camcorder. Wish it would have caught on earlier and they would have released home video movie releases on SVHS.
It's likely they all have bad capacitors now, but still a possibility of getting lucky. If one was was stored well.
Oh man i reversed polarized my nv m8 and this video just saved me, i was the same problem as the one that didnt go on, do you think that is okay to just jump the 12vUNRG to the top of the transistor ? Thk
Why do you need to jump it to there? Sorry I'd have to go looking in the service manual to work it out. If it was connected reverse polarity, maybe a fuse is blown.
@Elecami I did the same jumper as you to the transistor and the problem was fixed, maybe when reversed polarized burned out some contacts that supply the transistor
@@YagoMarinsPatricio I see, just looked at the video, I had forgot about that. Must be a way to bypass a fault. Maybe there was a batch defect in the PCBs.
very interesting head set , very well explained
Thanks.
Thank you for the in depth video! What do you think is your favorites of these? Do you think the Bigscreen is a good upgrade?
Bigscreen is easily my favorite. Ease of use , comfort, good picture, works directly with SteamVR light house / base station things, No Space calibrator to use VIVE trackers, no other software. Second place, I would recommend PlayStation VR2, good overall experience. But lacks light house tracking, will makes things difficult if you want to use VIVE trackers and Index controllers.
@Elecami you have eased some of my anxiety about considering it as my entrance into VR. I am currently slowly building a stronger and more up to date PC, then looking at the Bigscreen for VRChat and other games or sims. I wish you success in your TH-cam electronics journey!
@@fnafworldnumber1 If you haven't used VR before, you could get an Index first, that will get you started and get you all the additional parts you need for when you upgrade to Bigscreen.
@@Elecami I have used a quest 2 but have not done much with pcvr, entrance into that I suppose, but you may have a point in the sense of learning how to get everything set up
Good to see your comparison after using so many headsets.
Thanks :-)
Maybe your second g2 has been used by someone not careful and in turn the cameras cant track properly anymore, and the varjo software is not even finished.
What could they have done to it by being not careful? There is no signs of damage to anything.
I had a xiami mi9 phone. No damage, not even a scratch. My sisters dropped it once onto soft carpet floor and its SOC thanks to shoddy manufacturing by xiaomi became loose on the board! The outside still didnt even have a scratch. Sadly some of these are too sensitive for even a simple knock.
@@kibblestherexouium4775 I see. I am not sure what's happened to mine. I wondered if it needs to go through a process of learning the environment or if I had something in the room upsetting it.
@@Elecami there are many possiblities. Sadly many vr headsets are sensitive and not designed for some people... including me as i would take it appart to learn how its put together.. and not be able to put it back together. I hope the beyond will serve you well!
is there any chance you still have the service manual? I can't find anything online and I have this model
No I don't have it sorry.
Do you think the price of a replacement one connect cable is justified?
Yes. It is highly specialized part that is expensive to manufacture. Check the prices on long optical HDMI cables. It is similar.
I recall on the K deck the loading motor had an issue where there's a little tiny nylon sleeve that pushes into that metal spline of the motor and goes inside the worm drive nylon gear, the little sleeve splits and so the worm drive then slips. We changed loads fo them on the early K decks which seemed much less reliable than the G deck, the first year or two of K decks had a lot of issues where the loading mechanism nylon parts would distort and stop loading and of course mode switches failed. Compared to the G deck I hated the K deck! - it was the around 1993 I think when they released these and the start of the more serious cost cutting and decline in build quality,
Good information thanks. I think one of my others suffered the loading worm slipping, can't remember if I was able to do anything about it. I've noticed nylon parts cracked in other places like the part that holds the pinch roller on in older mechanisms. The grease probably degrades the nylon.
I agree, the revised G Mech circa 1990 was the high tide mark of build quality for Panasonic. VCRs like the one in this video did have less capacitor issues but tons of problems with load motor sleeves as you say and low torque drum motors in the early SD series of machines. Mind you, I'd still take a K mech over the competition. The other brands went cheap and nasty much sooner.
I don't like manufacturers doing it's own proprietary stuff. On the one hand we have EU standardizing connectors between devices on the other we have this :D But maybe this will become new standard who knows, but something tells me that the communication between the telly and the box is proprietary and closed or in other words only useful to Samsung.
This isn't a cellphone you throw in the trash every year when upgrading, so the conditions / rules are different.
@@Elecami Is it really? It has the same issues as the cellphones, hardware that barely runs the current version of Android :D
@@semiRockethr They work fine for me and have done for many years. Even after what I did to them.
