    Quick Update: I've retested these with the newest firmware 1.18 and the gyro drift issues remain.

    This is the first review I've seen with a negative review on the mobapad hd. Maybe others are not testing it as much hahaha. I appreciate your honesty, alot of other reviews say these are the best/perfect controller (switch gaming). Gyro drifting ect, the review i was looking for. Thank you

      Thanks for the kind words! I really do like how well built it is and the quality of the buttons but it does have downsides that I wanted to show, even if my specific use case is pretty rare (using it for gyro on PC). Most people are just using this on Switch but I still think things like the shoulder buttons would affect them.

  • @zhv3062

    Great depth of information. Most of the other channels are just gushing over these and how great they are over the Hori Compact or NitroDeck. I understand you strictly talked about PC gamin but still heard more here than the others.

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! It's a very specific use case but I wanted to talk about these issues that people might run into, these are expensive joycon so I felt it was worth getting the word out

      @@directedinput I recently purchased these (waiting on delivery) but with the switch nearing its lifecycle, its nice to know that I can at least use it for PC gaming. I loved using the PS Move Nav controller with reWASD( and xpadder) and mouse so this looks like a nice alternative.

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep these will be great for that purpose of replacing a PS Navcon left side, especially with the high quality analog stick. It is interesting that so many new joycon are coming out in what should be the last year of the Switch, and makes me wonder if the manufacturers have some inside knowledge that the next Switch will be backwards compatible with joycon and use the same rail system setup to keep putting out new products like the M6 HD.

    Very good video. I would never have thought of using controllers like a Wii nunchuck. 😅 I have been using gyro as a compensator and this video made me realize that I may be using just the tip of what gyro controls are really cabable of. Maybe a tutorial video next?

    Best controller hands down. I just received it today and the product feels so premium. the ergonomics is the best for me. I have Nyxi Hyperion Pro, Crkd Nitrodeck, Binbok, Binbok Slim, and Hori Split pad pro. This is the best of all of them. The ergonomics is in between Binbok and Binbok slim with Nyxi Hyperion Pro and Nitrodeck joystick hall effects. It's got the best of both worlds. I'm buying a 2nd pair just in case they sell out. Their website doesn't look impressive so I do not know if this is a big company. I rather get a 2nd pair than find out they stop making them (I hope not)

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It really does have that premium feel. I know they are expensive but when you have them in your hands you can tell they are well built. I think for most people just using them on Switch, they will become the go-to third party Joycon because of that, glad you like them!

    Dude, I love your videos, especially the ones you talk about the tech. Thank you for the great content! ❤
    Also, would you consider going back and re-visiting the Steam Controller now that you have had a ton of experience with Joycon controllers? Would love to hear your thoughts.
    Personally, I have always stuck with the SC and its gyro but that's a preference thing.

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks! I would like to at some point get back into using the SC again. My main problem with it is just having to use Steam Input, lol. I'd probably end up using reWASD. But yeah the steam controller really was pretty groundbreaking so it'd be nice to revisit it. I look at the darkwalker shotpad / ifyoo gtp01 as kind of a modern version of it, especially now that it has gyro.

      My M6 HD don't drift. Not anymore than any other gyro controller, anyways. All gyro drifts, as it has no reference point like IR. But gyro drift isn't an issue typically because it's used in conjunction with the right analog, rather than replace it. So every time you move the right analog it "recalibrates" it. But ya, my M6 HD on Switch feel just like the official joycon in terms of gyro

    It is a shame that back buttons are restricted for mapping, especially the sl keys

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, there is a mobile app that can do the mapping as well but since it is not available on the stores and has to be side loaded I haven't been able to test if it allows more buttons for remaps

    • @ActionJaxonH
      @ActionJaxonH 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The SL are for sideways joycon and aren't accessible unless using split wireless. But... I suppose that would be a nice feature even if niche. I do wish left rear could map to right buttons but, that's just a limitation of being 2 separate controllers

    • @ado4414
      @ado4414 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In steam the sl/sr buttons are treated as grip buttons so it's a shame that they remain useless. Even moreso since these controllers are wider making them harder to reach.

    Hi,
    I love your videos.
    I have discovered a few weeks ago gyro controls with the Nintendo switch and I am now a big fan. It remembers me the controls on wii.
    And thanks to you and your videos I could learn and appreciate more gyro controls.
    I don't have a pc but I have a steam deck and gyro works very well with the steam deck when it's docked.
    Unfortunatly not all joycons. Nyxi hyperion can't connect. Nintendo Switch Joycons keep disconnected all the time. Doyoky lumos with hall effect are not great unfortunatly for me there is a lot of lag. But the doyoky lumos slim are perfect, it works very well. Such a shame that the slim version doesn't have back button.
    You convinced me and I have just bought the mobapad I hope it will work fine with the Steam Deck.
    Can I ask you a question please ? How do you charge your joycons ? First I put mine directly on the Nintendo Switch dock but after I had to pair again with the steam deck and sometimes it could be very complicated. There is the solution to use the usb c cable but it's two cables for each joycon. Is there a power station where the doyoky and other joycons fit ? Thank you so much for your time and videos, it's so great 😊

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for the kind words. I use a joycon charging station, I show it about 12:40 in the video, but the listing is gone now but a ton of different companies sell ones like that. I think the Mobapad should work fine on the Steam deck but can't be sure. It is unfortunate the Hyperions don't work on PC though, it's very strange because it's the only joycon from that design that are like that.

    I like them so far. Just the macro programming has been a pain. The app is not translated all the way. Have you figured out a good way to program a button combo in the back and trigger 1 action in steam input? I.e. macro the back button + + RS then steam reads as space bar? I know rewasd has it as shortcut. But rewasd won't install on my computer correctly so I'm back on steam input. Button chord seems to have a delay or maybe the macro is delayed from triggering a button chord.

    • @directedinput

      Sorry I don't really use Steam input all that much outside of basic configs so I'm not sure about the button combo. It seems like it should be something it could do but I know that would be easy in reWASD.

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For split motion controls on PC there really is only two options which are Joy-Con and the Razer Hydra. The Hydra is hard to find now and isn't supported any longer so that leaves Joy-Con. Apparently the makers of the Alpakka are working on a single handed controller so that might be an option in the future.
      So for me the best option is Joy-Con right now, either official or third party like I use.

    Is the instability so great when using gyro? Because if so, I better wait for them to solve it, but couldn't it be because of the Bluetooth that causes this instability? I will continue using my original Nintendo Switch Joycons, since I found a way that finally the gyros of the joycons are completely stable without delay, but I would really like the MOBAPAD M6 HD because its buttons are like touching the keys of a mouse and I loved that

    • @directedinput

    do these constantly charge themselves while attatched to the switch? i hope not. i hope they only charge when docked. because thats the big reason i hate official joycons. they constantly drain power from the switch in handheld because theyre constantly charging back to 100 percent and i noticed a HUGE difference when using the split pad pro. it didnt drain my switch battery at all. because it has no batteries in it or features. and with all the features the mobopad HD has, it would drain even more power. which makes me nervous.

    M6 HD's shoulder buttons need more travel to press, my friend likes that 'cause he will not "accidentally" press it like original Joycon, but I don't like it.
    In general Mobapad M6 HD is really good choice, but the price will hold some people down.

    • @directedinput
      @directedinput  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the official joycon shoulder buttons are definitely really easy to press accidentally but this is in the other direction. There is also a weird thing about them where the L and R buttons are a little bit higher than the rear ZL and ZR so you kind of have to raise your finger over them when moving from ZR to R etc. Not a huge deal but still feels weird when you aren't used to that.
