I absolutely adored Dead Cells, over 1,000 hours, nearly 100% completion... But it got out of hand with all the collaborations (with franchises I love BTW). I stopped playing over a year ago and still constantly think about playing it again, but its just too much. I hope this is another experience I can dive into for another few years.
20:16 Mod support isn't complicated, the game's using Unity. Remove the IL2CPP obfuscation layer and that will enable the plethora of mod utilities already created for Unity with zero additional support needed from the dev team.
Hey there, 29 hrs in and I now wait with anticipation for the release. About the lore, it would be very cool to have different endings unlocked depending the characters, with different challenges to unlock it trough stages such as finishing 1BC in time limit for exemple or finishing a stage only with dash for the bat. I mean, gameplay is awesome, but narrative would be as cool to be fully engaged in this.
Really enjoyed what I played of the Eearly Access so far. Waiting for more content so I can continue. I know you guys are experienced devs by this point and probably don't need advice from a nobody on youtube, but the character models up close look quite rough still, and that's because in order to pull off this 'outlined' inverted hull cel shaded art style cleanly, you do actually need to use higher poly models. Using inverted hull outlines with low and sometimes even mid-poly geometry often leads to ratty-looking edges unless your model topology is immaculate. So I'm hoping that the character models get a slight upgrade before you get too far into development, just to let the art style really shine, because it's excellent otherwise. The animations are also fantastic, so hopefully it wouldn't be too much work to update the models at this stage.
Would it be possible to optimize this game better for the steam deck? The fps starts getting bad after map 1 thank you devs keep up the fantastic work on this game 🙌
Same, I gotta switch lite and ps5 and I am all about the rouge lites, dead cells was sooo additive and the animation that came out later for it was dope af 👌🏻
I just want to mention my problem with the sudden death mechanic. I primarily play 2 player co-op, and in games I often like to make myself tanky, so I focus on getting every upgrade I can for survivability. My friend I play it with always focuses purely on damage and is always a glass cannon. He's far more likely to die than I am and whenever he does, the build I like playing gets completely negated because I die in a single hit, despite having a very large amount of health. It's also frustrating when 2 people of different skill levels are playing and you can't progress further because the less experienced player keeps dying and it makes the game extremely difficult for you. Currently I find the game way easier in singleplayer than it is in co-op because of the sudden death mechanic.
I really love this game. And it emphasizes the fact that it is a cooperative game and I love the fact that if you lose a team member, there's like a sudden death feature and I honestly think it's perfect the way it is. I know some people have been complaining about a saying it's overpowered. But honestly, I think it's perfect the way it is because I have played games where people have taken all the items or scrapped them so I couldn't get any gear whatsoever so I died because people would not share. And they got punished for it by a one hit kid and honestly, if you're not gonna share your loot with your team and keep them alive and just hog it, you deserve a one hit kill, just being honest. You're supposed to work with your team, not hog everything. So in my opinion, they should keep the sudden death the way it is so i am sad you guys are changing it
I expect alot of people who dont want sudden death changed, also play mostly solo and they're part of the group of gamers that dont like seeing anything nerfed, they just want it as challenging as possible and while i understand that point of view, for anyone who plays purely in a group setting, it is just a frustrating mechanic, if one person is better than another, then it just starts to make you hate that friend and look for others to play with, a game should not divide friendships, it should bring people together
"Lots of players love the sudden death mechanic". I don't know what players they're talking about, but it's not the Windblown community. The overwhelming response has been negative. I feel like the only ones that like it are the devs that implemented it. "It creates epic moments." Not it doesn't. It creates frustrating moments. Being players down in number already is a big challenge while the monster number stays the same. A regular revive mechanic like a revive at the end of the level like in Ember Knights would suit the game better. And it's actually still epic being able to solo the level while your teammate is down.
Not it hasn’t been. Whiners are the loudest but that doesn’t make it a statistical study. Plenty of people like the mechanic. But an altered version of it could be a good compromise.
Hey! Very nice game, I don't know where I can give some feedback so I will just write my only complain here : I think we shouldn't be able to charge an alterattack while we are actually not hitting enemies with our primary weapon. It kind of making the game "too easy".
I have an idea on SUDDEN DEATH esay mode u have the easiest to execute. and u have this sudden death on the hardest difficulty. so every difficulty have a diffrent "sudden death" so u can have all ur ideas in the game. starting with most easy and next difficulty a new "sudden death" a bit harder, next difficulty a new one and so on. and on the hardest difficulty u have it like it is now . something like that. hope u all understand what i mean, my english is bad
Nice that you guys answer the questions! I am looking forward to the full version!
The dash mechanic is insta dopamine.
The thing about sudden death is that it made tank/agro builds useless, the moment the DPM player goes down, then your 500/600 HP becomes pointless
Ahh, the Stat Sheet question was from me, I am happy I made it in! Thanks for this game, much love for you guys at Motion Twin!
thank you guys for making this gem and all of those you created (i grew up with Hammerfest)
There I am, Gary!! There I am!

I completely agree, and stopped playing for the same reasons!
I'm waiting for switch
Mom, I am on TV 😂

Or finishing a multiplayer game with extreme difficulty

Did these developers make the rogue prince of persia as well?

Dead Cells has been a great game and it's really good to see Windblown being on the same path of greatness
