Hello mate. First of all, thx for the informative video. The thing in the back in the engine head, is the the "V-CAM" . I also did the timingbelt on our tucson jm 2.0gdi once, but never had to drill holes for the pulley bolts. But i dont know how i did it 10 years ago either😅🙈.

Thanks for this video. Going go start this project this weekend. Appreciate the heads up about that pulley. I will know not to spend hours finding a way. Either my tools/hands fit or I'm drilling a hole.
It was a relief to see that the intake manifold doesn't have to be taken apart and can be removed with the head. The less time on my back in the driveway, the better.

Glad it helped. I still have footage I'm working on about putting the engine back together. Plus I only just did another one exactly the same as the car I replaced the head gasket on. But the owner didn't have $600 to spend on all the parts needed so we went with a head gasket repair instead. If you need any info I can help. Have you removed the head yet? If not I would like to suggest you retorque the head bolts first to try that. When I took the head off I found no faults with the gasket and thought then had I known it was a metal gasket I would have tried retorquing the head first. 10mm Bolts 80N.m 12mm bolts 90N.m If you want to try.

Should have put a jack under the engine to make access easier to those bolts buddy

Thank You, We did that. Jacking it up or lowing it I had no room for my hands. I realized my possible problem when putting the car back together (That clip coming soon) If I had removed the full engine mount and not just the top I might have had the room I needed. Drilling that hole did make it so much easier tho. Putting the water pump pulleys back on took under 5min. I'm helping my friend fix the car up for his daughter. If we ever need to work in that area again that hole will save time.

@@TEKNOFIED putting those pulleys back on his a pain. Currently doing a head gasket which is why I had a quick look at your video. Pain to do with all these lock downs currently in Australia

@@allterrain4075 have you got the tool to make the 65 degree turn on the head bolts? I used a digital tool with mine and recorded all the torques as I bolted them down. First 65 degree turn was 50Nm on the 10mm and 65Nm on the the 12mm. 2nd 65 degree turn the 10mm was 77Nm and the 12mm was 89Nm. Lock down has stuffed us up as well. The Head is back on but we have not finished yet. Now we have to wait.

I dont believe that you need to pull the cams to pull the head. Just undo timing belt, exhaust manifold, intake, fuel line and whatever wiring/plugs.
