I love the history of this place. People don't realize how cool San Diego is. Its more than the downtown area. But you'll love PNW, so much to see and do up there. Great job on the video!
San diego has some amazing history and i do love it, but its become too expensive and i think the PNW will have some amazing opportunities and definitely infinite exploring spots. Ill be back here a lot though!
My parents grew up in San Diego. My dad was born in 1951, and my mom was born in 1952, so they were both here when 80 was still in use, and the 125 hadn't even started being built yet.
It’s part of the abandoned section you can still drive; you can still drive it in Jacumba and Boulevard, through Pine Valley and Descanso, then ends before you get to 8. So fascinated with this road! Saddens me they had to destroy it to make the 8, they could’ve rerouted to keep it, or most of it.
10:40 Old rock billboards? I believe back in the day (1900s to 1930s). They or powers to be allowed to use nature's billboards (aka rocks) That's really cool!!
I love the old Golden State Highway and the Old Ridge Route used before Interstate 5 through the Grapevine was built. Pyramid Lake’s Dam buried the old Highway 99. It’s two hours north of San Diego.
Happy New Year! Glad youre doing well. And thank you! super cool spot though. i heard about it a few years ago and always wanted to go, and once i got my new car i kinda somehow forgot about it until now. Super glad i was able to make it through that rough patch of road
@@AdventuringwithTrevor Oh!, okay so you know what part of the Old Highway I'm talking about. Exit 40 and go east Wildwood Glen Lane make a left. That bridge is actually original, you should go down to the creek, pretty nice area.👍👍✌️
@@slworking2 dont want the pottery curse! Nah but yeah man its so cool i could never take it. Firm believer in only taking pictures(and video👀) and leaving footsteps
You got a coordinates to get on to it? I've looked on Google maps and I can't find it I find parts of the old road but not the part your on. Would love to do a photoshoot out there
King Gavin saw this video and came up with a brilliant idea. He's going to turn all highways leading out of the state into old US-80 replicas, so another million people cannot leave the state for Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Tennessee. U-haul will help pay for this, as it will be cheaper than flying people to Nashville and Boise to collect their trucks and bring them back. At the rate things are going, the Dodgers will have to move to Nashville by 2035, because most of their season ticket holders are going to be there.
Is the Date farm still out that way? I remember as a kid my parents often drove down hwy 80, this was back in the sixties and 70s and one of our favorite stops was at the old Date Farm, we also used to stop at the castle that is made entirely out of rocks, not sure what the real name is, I only remember being called the Castle. Anyways it is worth looking into if either is still there or just simply abandon. Enjoy your video.
Martin Luther King used highway 80 in a famous sermon called “Unfulfilled Dreams.”
Thats awesome! Ill have to look into it more and mention it next time i come back here
What are the Odds of seeing Tay here.

There's also a section of Old Highway 80 right after Pine Valley, CA
I was thinking of checking that out soon! I hear you cant drive on it after a certain point, but is a fun hike

Roads must be one of the few usable things in public when abandoned, as long as they’re not too damaged. It would make an exciting road trip.
1st vid already love man
Sweet! I definitely gotta check out this section of the old Highway 80. I've been to other parts of it, but not this mile long driveable portion.
Definitely worth checking out! Lots of cool history around there and feels cool driving on a road lost to time
@@AdventuringwithTrevor Yeah. And I like how you found the ancient piece of pottery... and put it back for others to enjoy (what I always do, too).

If you follow Highway 80 on Google maps you can see where the east and west side of Highway eight split and separate. It’s right in between there
Nice job.

You’re moving to the Portland or Seattle areas or maybe further east like Bend or Spokane?
Thinking the greater Seattle area! Maybe Olympia though 🤔 wouldnt be until next summer though probably!
So sick!
Perfect spot to drive a Ford F-150 Raptor
Amazing Road great es 😀🙏🙏
Thanks Jordi!
15:28 You have somewhere to be at. Where? 😁
To celebrate!
Fellow trek owner how high of a lift are you at? I’m stock and want to check this out
I am also stock! But i do have some all terrain tires which mightve added a natural half inch lift but im honestly not 100% on that :)
Cool video interstate eight runs east to west.
Not north and south..

our vehicle is very quiet!
THIS IS NOT HWY 80 !!!...THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A ROUTE AND A HWY..
I have a dream that one day I will dive into some highway 80 cheeks

It was not a one way road actually! Would have had my heart racing back in the day 😂
