North Pole pass is no joke. It is a huge slog to climb, and then it is a long way down the other side. When I hiked this trail 2 years ago, I rated this the third hardest pass on the Highline.
Was the resupply through a company or a friend? I haven't been sure how to get a resupply in. It would take me longer to do this trail and I don't want to carry that much food.
Your vids never disappoint. Thanks for the hard work. Love seeing the gear in action. If you are interested in the geological history of that area there is an awesome, quick read from John McPhee called "Rising from the Plains"
Did you use a bear bin or did you use bear bag. Not many places to hang a bag. Did you just keep a bag in your tent and not worry about it? I plan to do the trail this summer and would prefer not to use a bear bin, but don't see any way around this?

As usual, amazing video. Was the smoke from the CA fires? Just had friends jump off JMT because of. Headed up to finish SHT this Saturday and my mom sends me some NPR report about how smoke from fires travels all the way to MN. WHAAAT? #npr #wtf
I'm not sure if there were fires the year this was filmed, but when there are California wildfires, Utah really suffers. The wind blows it right into our state and we have to choke on all the smoke that settles here. I sure wish California did a much better job managing their forests so that there wouldn't be as many wildfires. They are not the only ones that suffer. Other states suffer from their negligence.

You're now in Painter Basin, a truly stunning and remote area of the Unitas. I was there last week and summited Kings Peak from Anderson Pass. Enjoy!

I'm surprised you did a resupply. You're using crazy light ($1300 in zpacks stuff??) equipment, but couldn't carry all the needed food?

Thanks! We didn’t see any bears. Only Elk, Mountain Goats and Moose. There might be some bears around but we didn’t see any poop etc. 👍
