Reg Barclay was an underappreciated genius in Starfleet, too. I would have loved to have seen an alternate reality where he became the ENT-D's Chief Engineer.
And I've still not made it through the modern day film. It was awful. The fact we ALL know BA hated flying yet in the movie he was suddenly a chopper flier.

On the outside the plane is a 747 but I'm quite certain the interior shots were taken from a Lockheed L-1011 Tristar. As a kid, I loved flying on those. It was my absolute favorite airliner (I could only dream of flying on the Concord). Everything about the airliner reeked of quality and attention to details. Notice the lack of center-row over-head bins. It made the cabin spacious and open. An added plus to this was that the airliner featured the largest movie projection screen ever. It was like being in a movie hall! In contrast, I remember when I first saw a DC-10 and thought, "Sheesh! What an ugly bird!" In sharp contrast, the DC-10 felt like a cattle-car and I hated flying on those.
I remember at the end of the episode that they replicate the scene from the movie Airplane where the plane's nose enters the terminal. Smith then says "I love it when a plan comes together."
I loved that show! The characters were great; I especially loved Murdock and can never forget his line from an episode where he was told that he would be the 'secret weapon!' And he said, "I dont want to be a secret weapon; I want to be an exposed weapon!" Hilarious....I'm still tickled by this 😂 Does anyone know if and where reruns are streamed online? I can't seem to get full episodes here on TH-cam. I live in the Caribbean so it's not easy for me to get reruns of those fabulous shows 🙁 Oh, the episode is "Showdown;" I Googled 😀
