    Excellent, fun, informative video and advice. Just as you pre-set your gears as you stopped to look at the view to help you set off again... You can also use the gearing as a (sort of) security device. If you're in a crowded area and have to get off your bike to take a picture or get something from your bag, set the gears into their hardest ride position (L+ R3), that means if anyone grabs your bike, they can't jump on it a cycle away... easily.... gives you a few seconds to grab on to it or them. Although it wasn't intentional it worked for me, I'd just stopped after a long downhill and someone tried to grab my Brompton. They dragged it a few yards, got on and couldn't pedal... so dropped it and ran off.

      Wowww, you got very lucky!
      And it is a great tip. It is very hard to start pedaling in 6 gear.
      Some times I fold my pedal, so it will be hard to pedal if some one gets my Brompton.

    My "Lightweight" has a small, lightweight bell as an integrated part of the one shifter, and I have some carbon handlebars ready for replacement in spring, both the Brompton, trademark, high H type and a flat one for comparison, to see what suits me the best? I owned a Danish built S.C.O touring bike in the sixties which used a similar system, but by then without the click system guide, so it was more "search and you will find" to change the two outside gears. But going up a steep hill you was afraid to tilt backwards in the low gear!

      @@ChrisbyBike I remember it well. An extreme hill climb indeed. But for more gentle climbs, where you need to change gears, what's your approach? When, how, the order you follow, do you skip gears. That kind of thing. And no it's not just that I want to see you climb another mountain. It's your ability to explain the obvious clearly, as so often much is just assumed knowledge. Maybe something for future video.

      Ok, got it!
      And I have the perfect slop for that.

      You can change the 3V hub to a 5V hub. Or install 1 more Sprocket. That would give you a wider range of gears.

    I can see your seat post is corroded. Mine is black, and I have just bought a shorter post, for test, from titanium, but also black, as my black version. The price, from China is about the same as an original post!! And it has a wide bottom end not to be removed.

    Hi. Greetings from Argentina. How do you compare in terms of confort an effort the Bromton witj a 20 inch foldable bike such as Tern or Dahon?

    • @ChrisbyBike
      @ChrisbyBike  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Martin Dobisky
      I'm sorry, I never rode in a Tern or a Dahon.
      But I can compare the Brompton with my road, touring and MTB bike . It feels more like my road bike. It is agile and fast.
      Confort will come with a good saddle, nice Handlebar Grips, tire type and pressure and a good bike fit.
      Love my Brompton!

    And just remember, You can't change a chain-gear without actually riding! My old/new Superlight, full Shimano XTR carbon MTB has 33 gears to choose from, though not all are really for any use, as the bend of the chain becomes too much. Finn Denmark

      Hi Finn Carl Bomholt Sørensen
      That's the main reason I like the hub better. No need to pedal to change gears.

    Is het possible to change the 4-speed of Brompton P Line into a 6-gears option?

    • @ChrisbyBike
      @ChrisbyBike  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Memo Seven
      They made an all new triangle for the P and T line, and it is specific for the new gear system.
      The 6 gears system uses a Hub and a external gear.
      Hope on a near future they upgrade this gear system to support better gear range.
      Them it will be a dream bike.
      Nice to have you on board!

    This is how I calculate the Gear Setting.
    Let Gear Number be N
    Left Gear L(N) = 2 - (N mod 2)
    Right Gear R(N) = N/2 + (N mod 2)(1/2)

    My small wheel extender is stuck, so I can't extend it any longer. Has this happened to you?

    • @ChrisbyBike
      @ChrisbyBike  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi IM Ioa
      Yes, my wheel extender was very difficult to open so when I went to wash My Brompton I asked Fabiano to pass a lot of lubricant with it extended.
      It improved a lot.
      it is worth checking if it is bent, which would make it difficult to open it

    • @ChrisbyBike
      @ChrisbyBike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Enrique Nuñez Urquiza
      I'm using a German Ergongrips. Choose the smallest model so I can fold my Brompton.
      On the videos description I've post some links of similar ergongrips that you can find in Amazon.
      Nice to have you onboard!
