2024 Richland One Rising Stars Awards Ceremony

The second annual Richland One Rising Stars Awards Ceremony was held April 29, 2024 in the Exhibit Hall at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
The Richland One Rising Stars Awards Program recognizes elementary, middle school and high school students who have demonstrated extraordinary improvement in academics, attendance, behavior, character, community service and/or overcoming obstacles.
During this year’s ceremony, 242 students were honored as Richland One Rising Stars. Award recipients are selected by their principals. Rising Stars are recognized at programs held at the school level. Each principal also selects five Rising Stars for recognition at the district-level awards ceremony.
Participants in the program included Richland One Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon, Board Chairman Dr. Aaron Bishop and all Richland One principals. Miss South Carolina 2023 Jada M. Samuel was the keynote speaker for the event, and the Dreher High School/Hand Middle School Jazz Band provided musical entertainment.
