Thank you for this post. It was very comprehensive, accurate, and helpful. My biggest challenge was loosening the first (black) post connections. It took me an hour. Also, i was far in before i realized i needed an extension bit for the battery holder in the bottom.
Mr. Cash, - 25C in Edmonton, AB. Canada today. Heads up from GMC came about a month ago but I was cold. Today, battery done. Bought a new one. I got to the security arm bolts and am now very grateful of your DIY posting on what to do next. Thank you, Jenner from Edmonton
As someone who has only owned older junk cars, thank you for making this so simple to follow. I was stressing out thinking I'd have to go to a dealership like my Silverado had to.
First video I watched was a “oh hell no” reaction, found yours and it was a “hell yea I can do that”! New battery installed and MANY thanks to this EASY to follow video..even for us gals!
Between this video and another one on the subject, I changed the battery in about 30 minutes. AutoZone said it would take about 45 minutes. Thank you!!
I have a 2018 Acadia, the guy at O’Reillys said I might need a special tool that tricks the ecm in thinking that the battery has not been replaced. He said you can have some problems if you try to replace the battery like a normal battery. Have you heard this before?
I just changed the battery according to this video with no issues. When I first pressed the start button, it hesitated to start, maybe because the computer had to reset. Starts normal after that. It took about two minutes for the tire pressure indicator to register. No other issues after the battery change.
K I lost my negative bolt down under the washer fluid area and can’t find it. What is under that area? It was corroded on so I took the nut completely off and when I got the negative off it popped out
Not sure what's under that area, the car isn't around me at the moment. See if you can get a magnet and retrieve it if you're lucky. Otherwise go to the parts store and get a new bolt.
I have a 2017 Acadia Denali. The battery hookups look the same, but I am hearing things about using a jump battery to keep 12v power to the vehicle while changing the battery. Not doing so can damage the ECM. Is this true for this vehicle?
