    Seeing the faces of the actors within the characters is one thing while watching the movie, but it doesn't really connect until you see them actually acting in the studio volume, just how hard they had to work to imagine all this in their heads and play pretend like kids. 💙

    • @COLE_PRODUCTIONS
      @COLE_PRODUCTIONS ปีที่แล้ว +15

      especially the kids. It's one thing to act. In a big budget film. In such in a busy work environment. Then underwater. Wearing all this gear. Pretending to see things that aren't there. They're doing things most people twice their age have never done. For more than 5 years at this point...and then some.

    James Cameron said that he always wanted the actors to not feel like they’re in a huge, expensive production, which can put pressure on them. This really feels like just a big playground

    I really admire that. "It's just... a space." It's really like going back to acting school where maybe you had a few props and things, but you were essentially just in a room with your peers, acting. In a way, this film is a huge testament to stage performance in theatre.

    I can see it would be easier or more realistic at least to do it for Britain who I assume was always going to be slightly older and fully performance capture while Jack also did Blue Screen. I would love to know the scenes they kept from their younger shots and if their acting had changed.

    • @Quotenwagnerianer
      @Quotenwagnerianer ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The problem at this point is that it is still not completely transparent to anyone trying to judge a digital performance, how much is captured by the cameras on set and how much tweaking an animator has to do after the fact. Even if the only thing the animator does is correcting what the digital model does by looking at the recorded face of the actor. But is this really all they do? Or do they change a muscle here and there and adjust a facial expression? The moment that happens you can't give the award to just the actor, because what you see on screen is a collaboration between what the actor played and what the animator did with it afterwards.
      I'd say since the Planet of the Apes trilogy we are here for about 85% to 90% of performance captured live without additional tweaks, but that is just a guess. No one knows for sure. And until that is not clear, you can't give an actor an award for a digital character.

    • @josephk6214
      @josephk6214 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Quotenwagnerianer True enough. Considering how collaborative filmmaking is in general, there's always some kind of tweak being made whether by editors or the director(s) to maximize the effect of a performance either in live action or another medium. Hopefully, we'll see some kind of marriage in that recognition between the fx artists and performers in the future. Either way, it's insane just how adept these technologies and the people behind them (and in front) are at extracting and conveying immersive performances

    I was nine years old when Avatar released in Cinemas. I'm turning 23 this year.
    I watched Avatar TWOW last night in cinemas. What a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
    Still the no. 1 film of all time for me.

    avatar II is such a beautifull emotional movie journey... although its narrative is still based on conflict, avatar II made me wonder about other possibilities for living more attuned w the cosmos. I missed a storyteller in the movie telling more about ancient wisdom naavi might have... got curious about a possible response from a indigenous pov... really gratefull for the tech enhancements to get to show demonstrations of being one w cosmos... it is also wonderfull to guess how far blending attori from multiple cultures might make us live better lifes. cheers from Rio !

    Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, you are the coolest guys in the film. You are already a legend! Playing so many types of roles like EVERYTHING is REAL and how great everything is in action movies as well as in comedies and dramas. Playing adult, family, action, adventure and now teen is so great!

      Have you seen the stuff cut from the first film? Norm has an entire story arc they just axed, the scenes missing provide soooo much context to a lot which happens in the film. I didnt notice too much missing in the second but I definitely would have liked to see more parts expanded on as the story unfolded for sure
