It's liberating to be able to remember details without having to reopen tons of papers and books. I always enjoy the ability to pay online without having to take out my debit card from my wallet. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. I used a memory palace to remember details for a certification I took yesterday. Keep sharing the content Doc. It changes lives
Yes, the liberation from forgetting is amazing, isn't it? Thanks for the kind words and I will keep doing my best. I appreciate your support and look forward to your future comments. :-)
Thank you for this video. It gives me some hope. For sometime I've observed I don't remember well enough the details of the my friend's lives. I feel this more so now that I am working with people as a teacher/coach. My memory currently doesn't match the care I have for others. I will get after the Peg system and memory palace.
Glad it was helpful! Memory Palaces, mnemonic pegs, 00-99 PAO, in some cases a symbol system, and Recall Rehearsal. This is the way. Enjoy the journey and please just shout out if any questions arise as you journey!
This is great! Even tho I’ve just completed the magnetic memory method free course, I have forgotten many ideas, exercise, basically 90% of what I’ve heard and read. Yes I can still create a great memory palace, but it’d be nice to recall the “founder” of the memory palace and his origin story in the worksheet, and visualisation exercises in if memory serves, video 2. This video will be a great asset when I go through the magnetic memory method course again! (The biggest reason why I couldn’t recall much is because I forced my attention on the video and the worksheets, even tho I completed them and done the exercises, I can’t recall much. I’m currently feeling neurotic, and having those nagging thoughts can make it difficult to concentrate leading to my mind wandering when reading and listening)
Wow, this in one of those areas in life (conversations) where a trained memory really is a game changer! Extremely useful and I think this skill is, along with memorizing names and faces, may be the most valuable one to develop. I’m going to focus more on this area in my own practice. Thank you Anthony for making this video! Peace!
Glad you found this one useful - it definitely is a game changer. One of my fave ways to use the techniques! Please keep us posted on your progress with using it - that would be great!
I put this into practice yesterday during a health care appointment with my son. I used stations in the room to remember concepts and the names of potential medication, which I then could recite to my wife.
@@AnthonyMetivierMMM I somehow managed to delete my initial reply, so I'll retype it although somewhat altered. Good memory practice! :D (This time I'm typing my reply in a text editor first, in case this post too ends up in space). As for projects, right now I'm setting up my systems, recently completing the PVO and playing card systems. I study Spanish so that's another area where I'm using this when I need it. I'm still trying to set up a daily practice routine for memorizing random numbers, play cards and random words. In your episode with Braden Adams you mentioned Memory Matrix world record holder Martin Nilsson (Sweden). Martin was on the Sweden's Got Talent this year and got the Golden Buzzer after memorizing that day's newspaper on the train on his way there. Watching Martin on that show something in me triggered and my interest in memory training suddenly reawakened with full force. So I contacted Martin and told him what had happened and now I'd like to consider him my "memory coach". He's been helping me with my systems and giving advice along the way. An interesting fact about Martin is that he's a high school teacher responsible for memory training as his main subject, as actual part of the curriculum. What a beautiful thing! Memory and learning how to learn should be the very first and primary subject when starting out in school. On the horizon I'm looking at starting to compete nationally just for the fun of it and to keep me focused and surround myself with champions. I believe community support is key, which makes the work you're sharing super valuable! Martin made the difference to me, not only as inspiration, but in terms of actually starting the training. I now consider myself being on the path!
I find that it’s always easy to remember where I was having a conversation. So during a talk I scatter the elements of the discussion around the room. All I have to do is look back to where the conversation was held , and it’s easier to recall the most important elements.
This is phenomenal! first thing i'll check out once i'm done with the Magnetic Memory Free Course. I don't know how to thank you from uploading this tutorial. It's something I desperately needed as I had many struggles remembering what i've listened to on podcasts and videos, basically anything audio related. I've just bought a bunch of wireless noise cancelling earphones, this'll be an amazing technique to use while i'm listening to MMM podcasts while inside a car ride or during work.
I feel like Foo or Kilroy from the WW1 and WW2 graffiti 'meme' popular last century . . . just barely 'peeking' into the reality you, Dr. Metivier and other Giants of Recall are/were so fully immersed. My learning and memory projects are based largely on survival and necessity respectively. I am Eternally Grateful for the Masters from whom i have 'borrowed' the techniques and methods that continue to sustain my vitality as i continue my explorations. "We live in 'interesting' times.", 'someone' once said, now if only I could remember who that was. . . .
Immersion is the key. Without it, mental mastery is quite possibly impossible. That said, when we step back and look at consciousness as such, we are all fully and completely awake and the functioning of memory in that moment is what it is. Mastery not, in the Eternal Now, not one amongst us can add anything or take anything away. Only the laws governing reality can do that, and since they seem to be paying no attention to us, little wonder so few of us pay attention to them. 🙏
I was watching your video on indexing, I think you answered a big question I had. I wasn't sure if I should use the room that i was in, when I learned the information, as a memory palace. Now I'm off to find your video on remembering technical skills for work.
Thanks so much. Ultimately, it’s great to have multiple Memory Palaces. Although this might induce decision anxiety in some people, that is likely the result of separate issues and not a reflection on the technique itself. Happy memorizing!
@Anthony Metivier I only have a couple memory palaces and I find myself hesitating to put information into them. I am definitely a person who likes to have everything lined up before starting, and I need to push away from that mentality, so I can practice using the technique.
It's often part of the process to do a bit of both. Depending on the project, I will line up some of my Memory Palaces with more rigor than for others. It depends on the nature of the learning goal, but overall, I keep them as simple as possible. It's the volume of them and how they are used that matters most in the end. Then real-time generation and use becomes almost as intuitive as tying one's shoes or riding a bike.
In the future, could you make a video about visual memory? For instance, memorizing a map, the layout of a room, or the location of colors on a drawing?
Many thanks, Bob. I’ll see what I can do for your request. A lot of that stuff is already covered on the MMM blog, though. It has a search function and most of my content is there. 🙏
i have quastion, i am bad at conversation, i have resone for that , when i get chance of conversation i just became empty about topic, words, and what i am talking about .then ,i just talk anything because of panicness. i spend time to grab knowledge about current good teechnology, cars, places etc, but every time i went in conversation i realise i actulaly didnt picked anything in mind, and i get confuse about how to deliver my dilogs. can this thing cuarable and yes ,so how?
I've had similar anxiety and resolved it, so can only see that you have every chance of experiencing relief and positive transformation. There's some research showing that using a Memory Palace can lower anxiety over time. I discuss it here: th-cam.com/video/vs9UHz4pVuM/w-d-xo.html
Hi, hello. This is JEEVA. I met Road traffic accident in 2015.even now I have short term memory issues. Please I want your help. How to talk to you? Please help
It depends on the context, but usually when working with clients or while on podcasts, in cafes, etc. I just use what is suggested in these videos. I did have a psychiatrist client recently and we worked out a specific strategy for him. I would suggest a similar tailored memory-training for anyone struggling to work out what mnemonics will work best for any situation that is hyper-specific and not entirely clear how to optimize for memorization. A lot depends too on the length of time the memorizer wants the content in long-term memory. It's useful to factor this part of the goal into the strategy as well.
Nicely explained! I want to know how to reuse the association infomation. For eg. I know "A" and I have associated "B" with it with some action now when "C" comes, I want to associate it with "A" but I have already use it for "B". If I do associate "C" with "A", after some days I am getting confused between "B" and "C". Can you please help with this?
@@AnthonyMetivierMMM Let's say, I want to remember a book named "Sunshine" (B) and I have an image of "Sun" (A) in my mind so I will visualize like "sun is shining". But when other book comes with name "Sun Blast" (C) then I will visulaize that the "Sun" (A) is blasting. Now the confusion comes in if the sun is shining or blasting...
This confusion will be very low or nonexistent if you use mnemonics optimally. I would suggest assigning "Magnetic" imagery based on something like the Magnetic Memory Method.
During a conversation they are speaking at speed way then that we couldn't visualise any thing . suppose if you visualize you couldn't understand content ,you strict at one point.......
That can happen, but two things: 1) Memory techniques are strictly about visualization. So if you're getting stuck on that because of visualization, you need a fuller understanding of proper form. 2) I'd take one point over no points any day of the week. Wouldn't you?
Now that you know how to remember what you hear, learn how to memorize what you want to say next: th-cam.com/video/gBvKFI7AlLE/w-d-xo.html
Do words work too? Like if I see the words of the title of the book in my mind and put those words in the corner of the cafe?

Hi Anthony,
Would you recommend a specific approach for remembering the stories, needs, goals of therapy or coaching clients? (or anybody else)?

Potentially, I can help.
Please give some examples for what specific information would be represented by A, B and C.
