What's something you have no regrets about in homeschooling?

I have no regrets about not being in a co-op! It is just not something I want to do and I don't think it's necessary.

This! I feel the same way, one mom at my church seemed upset that I didn't want to join the co op..however I'll join them when they go on outings! I just want to teach my kids lol

I don't regret showing my kids that trades are worthy for them to look into as a career choice.
I also do not regret stopping school by 4 o'clock. We do enough lessons during the week to take Fridays off. If they need to make up some work, they finish up on Friday.

We don’t do morning baskets, never have, never will. IMO, it’s more busywork & I don’t have the room for it. (We school at the kitchen table, from a heavy duty utility cart)
We also don’t do the fluff. I have elementary age girls, 1 of which hates to color, so we skip all the cut, color, & pasting. We also skip poetry & art, she’s more of a “builder”.
Now my other child, she will paint a mural if I let her. So once we’re done with our lessons, I have her go do “draw & tell” in one of those composition books.
At the end of the day, they like to be out in the yard, collecting bugs to feed the chickens lol

I have no regrets about year-round school, using only 1 curriculum so far, teaching everything & not focusing on tests. I've never heard of morning baskets either. I also have no regrets including my kids in their choice of science courses (they do the same science) & electives since they're still K-8. My son started learning his math by video in 4th grade but I asked him if he liked the video before we went that route. He did & no regrets. But.....I will say that I do miss teaching it to him so I'm still adjusting to that after 2 years now lol. I have to learn how to loosen the reigns as they grow older but I truly enjoy relearning everything along side them ❤❤❤

Kids should learn from different people, materials, and ways of learning. I totally agree.

I feel like with morning basket, a lot of stuff that I do (i dont do morning basket) most people would consider it part of morning basket. I just start out our homeschool day and do hymn, national anthem, bible and just keep flowing to our other subjects.

We do not do still with no regrets:
    Morning baskets
    Sports
    Just one brand of curriculum
Things we do still with no regrets
    A modge podge of curriculum
    Co-op
    Year round schooling
Out source math in high school. I hate it, so someone can have that pleasure

My girls really like morning basket and they LOVE poetry tea time. We do not do nature study despite the fact that I have 28 graduate credits in Wildlife Biology. I have zero interest in doing it, and my girls are more into the the physical sciences than animals and nature.

I feel like when the younger grades i wanna be involved in the actual teaching. I may no know everything but i learn alongside my kid. I feel like outsourcing middle or highschool level is perfect. They are independ enough to handle it. Younger grades u might as well put them in full time co-ops (if there is such a thing) or public school if ur gonna outsource everything. Just saying for the younger grades :)

Morning basket sounds good but I could never figure this out, just feels like moving our curriculum from the table to a basket 🧺 😂
Hope college doesn’t ruin your kid, that is their specialty as you probably know.

Goodness I know. Luckily my son wants to go to trade school, and it's local so he can live at home (saving him a ton of cash). We're leaving it in God's hands ❤️

Serious question- why not just send them to a public or private school instead of homeschooling? I’ve been watching your videos and you seem to align with public school type curriculum and now with you saying that you like to have them taught by multiple teachers with diff teaching styles…I just wonder why you chose to homeschool?

Hi Heather! There are many reasons why we and others choose to homeschool, but the number one reason for us is because as a Christian family we want to give them a Christian education grounded in a Biblical worldview, where God is put first above all else. You're definitely not going to get that at a public school, and a Christian private school is going to be hit or miss, not to mention astronomically more expensive. We're not mirroring public school, we're giving them a higher standard of education. There's also the safety issue with both public and private schools as well. Not to mention, homeschoolers outscore public school kids in testing, so we're giving them a better quality of education. Also, we're not aligning with public school, our kids just learn best with traditional style of curriculum. Hope that clears it up for you ❤️

@@mandy-maltz Hey Mandy! I have gotten many great ideas from your videos and I’m not knocking you in any way! I genuinely just wondered why you’d choose homeschooling rather than a public or private because your homeschooling style seems to me very much like a typical brick and mortar approach. Most influencers I have seen here on TH-cam follow a Charlotte Mason approach to homeschooling. Your style is very different than what I’m used to, so I just had to ask! Thanks for replying ❤️

@@hstewart3612 absolutely! I didn't mean to come off snarky, so I hope it didn't read like that to you. I apologize if that's how it came off. I type really matter-of-factly sometimes. With us, it's more of a learning style that my kids seem to really mesh well with, so we go to traditional style more often. While I loved the idea of CM style, it wasn't meshing with my kids at all. I was a little sad 😂 What I wanted, and what worked best for them, were 2 totally different things.
