Breezy had a coming out party in this game... clutch sophomore that earned the start into the overtime period. I love how players trust the process, keep their heads down and grind. She had a great game coming off of the bench against Caitlin Clark and Iowa the other night, but she very well could be shining with our Gamecocks if she stayed the course. Not sure if she wanted more PT or what....she's coming off of the bench even at State.. team basketball...gotta play your part.
i will never doubt this team again. honestly when they were down 60-56 with less than a minute i just said it was a good effort. I’m proud of the Gamecocks

South Carolina ability to consistently overcome big deficits vs elite teams is amazing. Stanford is a smart (obliviously lol ) talented team and for South Carolina to surge back to win says so much about them. These 2 teams will rematch for the title. Clear cut 2 best teams.
Definitely a cross country rivalry, but what makes it better is the respect each program has for the other.
That’s what happens with a deep bench. I don’t think these girls panic when they’re down because they can wear other teams down and still have some left in the tank.
Putting Olivia Thompson in to spread the Stanford defense was genius, AND she made good on the 3 pointer! I'm sure Stanford didn't expect that. L.A. was simply on FIRE this game!

I keep coming back to this epic game. There was so many moving parts [bench] on the team and Dawn kept grinding the gears. Yet significantly it was Brea Beal shut down defense on Hailey Jones [Stanford all american] that made the difference. That is not to underestimate Laeticia Amihere two way havoc impact on Jones and Brink too.

I love my Uccon team but I have to be honest these two teams are the teams to beat!
Dawn definitely should have kept Feagin on the floor longer. She was doing a great job over Cardosa and Saxton. She can actually score, defend, and have speed. Cardosa is way too slow for Brink and she should have seen that. Almost cost us the game holding the ball low for Stanford could steal. Gotta do better than this

Agree 100%. Cardoso fumbled the ball hard and is just too slow and her height doesn’t mean much since Stanford is tall as well. They use her for the big body esp for offensive set pieces but she does little to get open. Feagin went off and hopefully she’ll play more after this one
I agree. I actually want to see Feagin come off the bench before Cardoso for the rest of the season.

It’s crazy how we gutted out a win with a handful of defensive breakdowns, against the #2 team in the country. When Raven is more consistent with keeping ppl in front on defense, and her and Fletcher become more of an offensive threat, you can just give us the National Championship

This was An amazing Game
Aliyah Boston was clutch but Breezy Hall ,Brea Beal ,Laeticia Amihere & Zia Cooke help bring us home. When ur playing against #stanfordwbb cam brink taunting fouls never apply.Nevertheless she struggles playing the right way which results in her fouling out of most games. Many of us #gamecockwbb #fams remember how there was no tech foul called in the 2021semifinal when she stood over 'LA' screaming.. the refs chose 2 swallow their whistle. That's the same semifinal the refs chose not 2 call the kick ball and that resulted in a lay up on the other end 4 #standfordwbb. I digress this was a great win 4 us early in the season.

I’m going to get the bad out the way first. Wayyy too many turnovers. We literally were trying to give Stanford the game away with turnovers and missed free throws we literally cannot afford those type of mental mistakes. Especially if we wanna repeat. Our defense was a lil bit alarming too.We have to start off better when we play ranked teams like this because we easily could’ve lost this game. But now to the good. I LOVED Our fight And our resilience we didn’t give up and this is why I love Dawn Staley as our coach I’ll never question her.Not to mention I love how complete this team is. We have so much depth i believe we can literally play our entire team. The improvement of our 3 point shooting collectively as a team really has me excited. bre hall definitely was clutch with her 3 point shooting. I cannot say enough about Aliyah Boston she is who she is and that’s is the best in the country. Zia is just a certified bucket. And I’m going say it now Brea Beal is the best defender in the country. And if she improves her shooting like she has to start the season she’ll put the entire WNBA on notice to close out her senior year. Appreciate you as always Robbie🐐

there was a tweet a few weeks ago about sc having a hard time getting the ball down low and the person got eaten up, but they were right. the guards hardly look down low to AB much less throw it in to her.
I agree. I think our offense is not centered around getting AB the ball. We know there are going to be 2-3 defenders on her in the paint so why not let her move around more on the perimeter. She is a good shooter, and can create her own lane to the basket. They are glueing her to the paint and it’s causing them problems

There was few fouls not called against Stanford in the fourth period but yes Carolina did to. Anyway this game mean nothing unless both teams did not learn from it. The Carolina bench is better than Stanford. Wish Ashlyn Watkins played more
my team is standford this game was very intense both teams were really nervous except jump and cameron brink and brink played amazing she was the best one of the game that girl will be a star in the wnba when she comes in. standford's defense was 10/10 mainly in the paint they didn't let anyone shoot I hope their defense stays that way for the entire season and it hurts me to say this because for me haley jones is one of the most talented in the league but today she played terrible I don't know if she was nervous or what but she threw the game making mistakes and taking difficult shots without need to do it and also being able to make them easy she made too many turnovers and because of her we lost the game 100% negligence on her part she is very talented but it looks like she is not practicing much she should practice more and improve her game because today was terrible omg really really bad and well with that defense from Stanford SC and other teams don't have a chance against them so keep it up standford.
Bruh that was not all of Haley jones fault. That last no timeout tech call was the reason they lost… but Haley is the rock of that team. Her shots weren’t as good but she def made it up in her assists and defensive efforts. Why we blaming one player for the L when it’s the whole team not performing well in the last mins of overtime. Whole team sold esp when they dk how to manage their time with no timeouts

Nevermind Brea Beal #12 played solidly against her. Today wasn't our best game but then again, when you play a great team, certain counters will be in play. It's a chess match. Our bench was the difference. Stanford is an awesome team. I love your PG. she's going to be good for you guys down the road. Haley is still an excellent all around player. The situation can get the best of the best at times. You have to be mentally tough to endure these types of games. My Gamecocks will see you guys again in the Final Four 2023. I'm looking forward to it.

Standford is tough
Zia Cooke continues to be inefficient and overrated. Has a habit of disappearing in big games. Zero points in the first half and again had to be cajoled by the coach to show up. Suppose to be the team's best 3-point shooter, but she made none all game....Bre Beal, Bre Hall, and reserve Thompson hit the team's 3 pointers Played 37 mins and shot 3 for 13, worst shooting of any SC player. Bree Hall seems like she'd make a more dependable shooting guard and Cooke should come off the bench.
Zia made some huge passes this game too though!! She also shot great free throws despite the pressure, unlike some of her teammates. She’s always played to the likes of a power guard instead of a shooting guard, hence why she always ends up driving to the basket to reel in fouls. She may not be a consistent scorer but her value spoke for itself in this game!!

Zia came up BIG from the free throw line. As a shooter your shot may not always fall but she found other ways to contribute. The had some great assist when it mattered most and guarded STANFORDS best 3 point shooter and shut her down the entire game. Not to mention she came in in the 4th and overtime running point and getting the ball in the hands of those that were hitting their shots. She’s the only guard the consistently looks for Boston down low. Say what you want but no one besides the bench had a good first half but she came out and put up 13 points, 4 assists, and 3 reb. Saxton and brea missed huge freethrows but Zia showed up when it mattered. Y’all sc always try to throw her under the bus but in every game leading up to this who has been the teams leading scorer? ZIA COOKE! Y’all sc fans have short memory. Zia had a tough Junior year but she gave a lot to this team her freshman and sophomore years and is continuing to do so in her senior year.
This is how I know y’all just don’t like Zia because Zia is literally known for showing up in big games. Like I said she had a tough junior year but we all know she’s the most clutch person on this entire team so to say she just disappears like come on.
