@@brucewayne7831HBO/Max needs to develop an Ishida prequel series chronicling his rise to power within the Chihara Kai in the style of The Godfather Part II. J.T Rogers and team PLEASE make it happen!!!
This series is still so underrated and not a lot of people seem to know of it's existence. (HBO) Max is in part to blame for this as they do not promote it enough. Therefore, I believe it is up to us to spread this amazing series to all the people we know and create awareness because this show deserves it! I am confident this series will blow up in the next 2 years, just wait.
I read somewhere that HBO/ Max will not be doing season 3 for this. They were expecting more views yet they failed to promote the show properly. Shame.
Sato and Ishida have become my fav characters. I really hope this show gets more audience coz i want this show to go on for as long as it requires to finish its story 😢😢
@@SerendipityTrouvaille Definitely, especially considering the Yakuza would've been at their peak in terms of power and membership when Ishida would've been coming up in the 60's and 70's as a younger man-If Max chooses to green light the show and it has some of the main creative minds from Tokyo Vice behind it (J.T Rogers, Alan Poul, Jake Adelstein etc) and if it's picked up by HBO/Max it could be as great as Tokyo Vice and could easily run for 2-3 seasons! I'd imagine a young Ishida to be much like Sato so it would be much like Tokyo Vice except with less journalism and would focus purely on the gangster/police aspect with the same stunning visuals and deep exploration of Japanese culture...and cigarette smoking! Shun Sugata is outstanding as Ishida, so I don't know who'd play a younger version of him but man I'd love to see this show get made! 😁

As with Perry Mason,The Gilded Age…love how the HBO/Max series people do their research and always strive for authenticity! They also seem to spare no expense on production values, settings, costumes! In the club scenes, love how they dress Samantha and style her hair!
The first few episodes of this season is kinda slow so I was skeptical on the second season compared to the first. However, when episode 5 - 6 started, the situation turned south real quick and I was shocked when Ishida died. I wasn’t prepared and that’s a good thing. I’m totally blown away by the last 3 episodes so far. Please promote and start shooting for season 3 asap! I do not want this show ended like game of thrones final season.
According to Jake Adelstein himself season two is the last season, though there were plans to adapt his other book The Last Yakuza as a basis for a third season of Tokyo Vice but those plans have been scrapped. I want HBO/Max to develop an Ishida prequel series chronicling his rise to power within the Chihara Kai-J.T Rogers and team *PLEASE* make this happen so we can expand the Tokyo Vice lore/universe! 😁
Great series. Yes it is underrated. Ishida is superb to this series, I was surprised he character was literally eliminated. After this season, Season 3?
I saw him somewhere before but couldn't put a finger on it. Then after I read his biography and it mentioned he used to model and walk runways is when I recall seeing him in magazines years before. Good for him.
I wanna read the book now and grab a drink with the author. My brother is an anime junkie and goes to Japan every year wondering how Jake's Japan is different from the touristy version.
There's a video game series i play called yakuza that is basically what this show is i highly recommend playing if your into games. Such a great show i hope we hlget season 3
No Tokyo Vice season three but Like A Dragon: Yakuza six part series starts on Prime next week! I've never played the games but if it's anything like Tokyo Vice story wise I'll be happy (almost like Like A Dragon could an unofficial version of a third season of Tokyo Vice). I'd also like to eventually see an Ishida prequel series chronicling his rise to power within the Chihara Kai 🔥🔥🔥
When I first watched this drama, I felt that it was a strange image of Japan from foreigner's perspective, including often strange Japanese conversations, but as the episodes progressed, the story became more complex with fore-shadowing here and there, and the strange image no longer bothers me so much. Also the drama reflected well the Japanese culture of the 90's. In the future, many films and dramas will be produced in collaboration between Japan and foreign countries, so I believe that this drama may leave its mark as an experimental masterpiece, in the early days of co-produced works. Although I feel like the director is glorifying "Yakuza" too much, I'm really looking forward to the 2nd season.
I have only problem with this show was..it was shoot in japanese langauge most of the time and i have to read subtitle everytime to understand the conversation. I am in 3rd episode of season 1st.
This question is for those who speak Japanese, Hayama's accent sounds very different from the rest. Am I wrong? The way he pronounces the "r" is pretty similar to way we do it in Spanish, very different to the rest of the cast. I could be wrong tho
No, you're not wrong. There are many accents, words can change from region to region, and verb endings change, too. Hokkaido Tohoku, Kanto, and Chubi are some of them
For me the season two finale felt like the perfect series finale. Don't get me wrong I love this show (it's in my all time top five), but I don't want to see it play out for so long that the story/characters become redundant and/or ridiculous. Sato is a certified boss, I particularly loved how his character arch ended in season two and I'd hate to see it ruined unnecessarily just for the sake of shock value in a potential third season.

Cancelled too soon, but it's ok. Season 2 didn't have the same magic or 90s feel that the first season had. Great show.
I think Ishida-San would make the perfect father of Yorinobu Arasaka, if there was ever a live action of Cyberpunk 2077
