Hey Jeff, thanks for checking out the video - glad it was helpful! I haven’t seen an Evo on your channel - are you testing one out? If so, it’ll be entertaining to see what you can do with one! Have fun.
Same thing happened to me when I swapped the headset cup; spilled parts all over the garage floor. Wish I'd seen your video before my attempt! Nice solution to the problem. I might actually try it on the trail.
Hey yndalo, thanks for checking out the video and for the kind comments. While the bungee isnt completely necessary (if you’re not clumsy like me) it definitely makes it easier to handle and saves you from a mini yard sale!
Thanks for the very kind feedback. I couldn’t find any videos either when I researched how to change the head angle but after reading the manual it looked pretty straight forward. We had a few bumps along the way but once you figure it out it’s a pretty quick exercise. Thanks for checking out the video!
Awesome - I’m sure you’ll love the bike! Out of interest, how tall are you? Having seen my daughter on her Evo Comp Alloy, I’m seriously considering getting an Evo for me personally - I’m 6’4” and am thinking the S5 might fit me well.
@@dizidoesdownhill I’m 5’11” and the S4 feels perfect. For your height, I think maybe the S6 would be a better fit. I think that 6’4” is the max recommended height for the S5.
Thanks for the insight Sebastian. I went and rode the S5 and it fit me well. I'm sure the S6 would have worked fine too but the S5 felt good! Thanks again.
Thanks, I found this really useful. Just got my stumpjumper and I immediately made the same change. Small problem though, I’ve somehow ended up with a spacer spare 😅… the manual doesn’t seem to clearly depict each item and what order..
Glad it was helpful! I dont think it really matters the order the spacers go onto the stem as long as the top one protrudes a few mm above the stem to allow proper pretensioning using the stem cap. Thanks for checking out the video!
what was your torque spec on the stem? thank you for posting this, super helpful! I tried looking for a how to video by specialized but didn't find anything
Hey FP, we really appreciate the feedback! The torque setting on the stem bolts is 8Nm. The bolt on the top cap is tightened until the spacers stop rotating which is approx 3Nm
Thanks for taking the time to check out the video and leave a comment. Taking off the front wheel when in the bike stand makes a lot of sense. Thanks again
Hey Jonas, we set Mili's bike up with the -1º etching to the front of the bike. This makes it slacker and more downhill oriented. Thanks for checking out the video!
Hey Brian, I really appreciate your kind comments about the video. Obviously you are not able to the other 270 degrees of the field of view which would tell a very different story! I am a conflicted person, as I generally dislike a mess but am too slack to do anything about it…! Thanks again.
Hey Willy. Thanks for checking out the video. The regular StumpJumper doesnt have a variable head angle and i would guess the head tube is not manufactured to accept the cups from the Evo. I could be wrong though I haven’t seen anyone trying this on a regular SJ.
@@MrSupermugen heck yeah I'm jelly. My parents would never buy we a bike that expensive, purely because they wouldn't understand why it's so expensive. My an adult now so I can buy it if I wanted
Great video, thanks guys! Installing my headset now...

Very helpful video, thanks!
Loved how you showed the pitfalls of this job and how to work around them.

What a bike! I think we're getting closer and closer to getting a trail bike that does everything an enduro can just as well.
Modern bikes are highly capable and the Evo is a very rounded machine. Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you so much I've been looking for a video and yours is the only one that shows me in detail, keep up the good work
Thanks for checking out the video and the very kind words!
Bravo, the first vid on how to do this! Cheers 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Props to dizi. Great video.
Dizi is a star! Thanks for checking out the video!
Love the stumpjumper evo videos! Just got the same bike but in s4. Very informative. Thanks!

@@dizidoesdownhill that’s my mistake, I mean washer, not spacer 😅😅
Super helpful! Thanks for the clever tip w the bungee cord!
Hey Julian. Thanks so much for the feedback - glad you found the video helpful!
Very helpful to use the bungee especially when I am increasing the head tube angle. Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks for checking out the video Frank!
Great informative video. I will definitely subscribe with hope of more videos with this nice evo bike. Great work with video editing 👌Good luck👍
Hey Rufus thanks for checking out our video and for the great feedback! Really appreciate it. It’s a great bike for sure!

Did your EVO Alloy come with a bottom headset cup? It looks like just a bearing that goes into the frame...right?
I’m pretty sure that’s right. The bearing press up into the head tube.
Did you manage get the new cup to sit flush to the frame? I have a gap all the way round the cup after swapping it out
Hi James. The cup sat flush when I swapped them.
All I did was leave the wheels on the ground and wedge the front wheel between my tool cart and my work bench. Took about five minutes to complete.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like a good approach by stopping the front wheel from moving. Thanks again.
what voice are you using for the voice over? It sounds quite realistic
Ha! I do try! That’s all me. Thanks for checking out the video!
Taking the wheel off first makes the procedure much easier. Then you can hold the fork with your hand easily
Thanks for taking the time to check out the video and leave a comment. Taking off the front wheel when in the bike stand makes a lot of sense. Thanks again
Hey , did you go on -1 or +1 for more downhill orientated stuff ? Thanks
Hey Jonas, we set Mili's bike up with the -1º etching to the front of the bike. This makes it slacker and more downhill oriented. Thanks for checking out the video!
Bought my evo used. Does anyone know where I can buy the angle headtube cups ?
Congrats on the Evo! You’ll love it. I’d contact ridercare@specialized.com - they’re very responsive.
Excellent video … thanks…. though your garage is ridiculously clean and tidy! Too much order…. I’ve embraced the chaos approach :-)

Would this modification work on a stumpjumper alloy base model?
Hey Willy. Thanks for checking out the video. The regular StumpJumper doesnt have a variable head angle and i would guess the head tube is not manufactured to accept the cups from the Evo. I could be wrong though I haven’t seen anyone trying this on a regular SJ.
@@dizidoesdownhill Alright thank you. I appreciate the reply and the videos you make.
Thanks for the note Willy and enjoy your bike!
Nice video! You don't need a bungee cord. Just keep your bike on the ground and not in a stand.
Thanks Jim! And thanks for the advice - great to know!
Awesome first video I’ve seen explaining this🙏🏼. Is that an S1 size?
Thanks for the kind comments! Mili’s bike is an S2. Thanks for checking out the video!
Geez, that's a lot of bike for a young girl.
For sure. Something to grow into.
