Professional Way to Hang String Lights Outside | With Wire & Turnbuckles

- This is the LONG LASTING way to hang string lights and is still easy and straightforward to do.
Never put too much tension on your electric wire - this is what happens when you hang string lights at a long distance without extra support. The constant pulling on the wire will eventually short the wire and you'll have to re-hang a new strand. Best case scenario, your lights will work but they'll start to sag.
Instead, just hand a wire across your yard and tie the string lights to the wire with black zip ties. Even better yet, use a kit like the one linked below that has the right wire, zip ties, hooks, and wire clamps - really everything you need to professionally install your own exterior string lights.

Nice video. How do you cut cable so you can then pass the cut part back through the metal loop holder? The wire gets so mangled with the cut that I can’t loop the cut end.
For the part of the sting light that attaches to the tree... did you simply wrap the string/wire around the back of the tree with the hook just to hold it in place? You wouldn't need to use another eye hook + tension hook on the tree? Thanks!

My kit came with screw anchors. I noticed that you didn’t use any screw anchors. Is that a step I should worry about? Thanks! Really appreciate your video, especially the walk through on threading the wire and using zip ties.
No problem! The little plastic screw anchors are usually meant for drywall or masonry installs only. If you’re screwing into wood then those anchors aren’t needed. They’d do more harm than good in wood.
Where did you get the light plug socket adapter so you didn't have to plug the lights in every time?

Why do you need the additional wire instead of just string the lights to the pole?
Thanks for the video. How do you wrap the cable around a trunk of a tree without damaging the tree or bark? I know the cable is coated, but it's thin and I'm afraid it will cut the tree over time. Thanks!
