These were the days man. Back when xbox live was like underground Cult-ish. Everyone had a mic. It was just so pure. And halo 2 damn the best first person online multiplayer and game of all time.
Apart from Xbox Live, I miss when split screen multiplayer dominated the gaming scene (especially amongst shooters)
Something about playing next to your sibling/friend just seems a whole lot nicer than online play.
The pre-game and post-game lobbies were the best times. I also miss almost everyone having a mic. A lot more teams communicated and you didn't get so many trash teams like on games today.
These were hands down the best times I had playing any video game in my entire life, it honestly kinda hurts to watch this and think about how many years it's been. Enjoy your youth any way you can, you'll never regret it

One of my favourite memories of my online gaming experience in my fourteen yr life’s span, was when I met this kid on cod zombies. And had a chat about halo lore.
This is when Halo use to require just raw skill. No load outs, no bubble shield none of that stuff.
i loved the mods that's when modding was fun.

Get home from school. Chuck my bag on the bed. Headset on. Xbox on. Party up with the boys from school. Spend 4pm - 8pm playing solid Halo 2 multiplayer. Chatting shit, pissing ourselves laughing. Funny how most of the dudes in this game are probably 30 - 40 now with kids of their own playing this. What a beautiful era in gaming. It really was the beginning of what we call 'gaming' today.

I remember driving to Toys R Us back in December 2004 with my brother.

343 ruined this part of the Halo experience- which was the reason players enjoyed multiplayer. They removed pregame and postgame Chat and proximity talk during the match where you could speak to the person you killed for 5 secs. This was a big mistake on their part because people stopped buying the new releases knowing it was removed.

Coming back to this years later, I look at some of the matchmaking options for Halo 2.
For something as intricate as Halo 2, why has quickmatch never come back as an option in Halo since? You know, the "I don't care what it is, just put me in" button? Now that I'm on MCC, I find myself wishing for something like that in the options.

Reason why you don't hear mics often Is because it can literally glitch and only pick up party chat audio.... Gamechat only works for me if I have my mic plugged in the controller and turn the xbox on.
