@@Chessguy yeah, but to be honest, I solved the last one only because I knew what kind of puzzle it was. In a real game I wouldn't be sure if I had the time to do the maneuver
Thank you for explaining this so clearly. While I agree with the play on the puzzle at 7:22, wouldn't the knight sacrifice first be better for the endgame? If knight moves to d5 its attacking the bishop on f6. Bishop on c6 takes, then white responds with bishop takes threatening the queen. If queen takes bishop then either pawn takes their queen or your queen takes queen and your up material.
I see the error now for black. (The exchange allows for unneeded loss of material so they don't need to exchange with my proposed idea. Like you said. Thanks for responding. I'm still learning....
Thanks. May i enquire, why is weak square defined as square can't be attacked by opponents pawns. If a square is not attack by opponent pawns, but is attacked by opponent's other pieces (bishop, etc), is that square still considered weak?? In 1:41 , is d6 square (occupied by opponent pawn) considered weak square also, since it is not attacked by other opponent pawn.
Something is only weak if you can exploit it, so the D5 square is great for your knight but d6 can't be used. Maybe I should have made that more clear! Thanks for your great point
I have seen many videos regarding this in the name of weak squares . Those are seeming understood at present and made doubt later. But this is like placing a photo frame on the wall in permanent
Hello, I'm relatively new to chess, but I was wondering at 04:32, what if after white moves knight to d5, and black recaptures with their knight. Instead of throwing away the white bishop by capturing the black bishop, you instead recapture the black knight with the pawn on E4? After this black will have to move their bishop, with nowhere to go they can only capture your bishop. If they capture it, the white queen recaptures. If black makes a move on the pawn you put on d5 you can defend by pushing c2 to c4. Or is this considered a terrible position?
in 3:43, if i plant a knight on d5, then opponent would just trade it with a knight by putting his knight on e7 after moving bishop to d8. What to do in this situation, coz we lost a strong piece there
you are right! But once black has played Bd8 and Ne7, we can always retreat our knight from D5 and the black pieces are very passive then which is also nice for white
Arghh, missed the last one. I was focussing on the h5 pawn, ready to sac. But doesn't the method in the solution take too long? Black can connect the rooks and improve the knight and DSB in that time. Just my noob take😂 Great video, learnt a lot. Thanks for this.
I think the puzzles are great because they help you focus on finding the strong square, but the third one misses the forest for the trees. Puzzle one is just a very simple routing motif Puzzle two has a tactical intricacy to win their good knight and secure a strong square Puzzle three, however, plays hope chess. You want to push f3 to open f4 for your knight and to double their pawns, but white doesn’t need to take. White simply can push g3 and they’re mostly safe. Yes black holds a strong advantage, but to capitalize on that advantage is not a matter of playing off of the strong square, but rather on attacking the kind with deft knight coordination. Also if you take into account the move order you suggested in the video description Nhf4 you sac the knight for the sake of an attack on the king that can be defended against pretty easily. Puzzle four is a lot better though. Nh1 isn’t the best move, but it’s a principled move that continues to tighten the noose around your opponents neck. White simply can’t muster up an attack quick enough to respond.
Thanks, I've just unlocked a new level of Chess, thanks to you
Great video, thanks - Clear and concise!
Thank you, hope you learned something! Did you get all the puzzles at the end right?
AGREED 100%
These are fantastic tactics - thank you - I want to dive deeper into the square strats!!
Appreciate that! Good luck on your journey to improving!!
Well said

really liked those four additional excercises! Very nice video!
Thank you so much! Were you able to solve them?

@@chiller9495 it's about recognizing patterns so good job on solving them!
Thanks for this helpful video!
Very instructive video!
(Also i’m here to comment to help with yt algorithm)
Thanks Nico, both for watching the video and for helping the algoritm!

If Nd5 black does not need to take on d5. Not sure what the best move is there for black, but definitly not Bxd5

Hey! Thanks for your comment on my video. On puzzle 3, after f3 white's knight is attacked so no chance to play g3. Did you oversee this perhaps?
@@Chessguy I honestly can't believe I missed the attack on the knight.
I solved the puzzles correctly except number 2, I missed to eliminate the knight on d7.
wow good job! the puzzles weren't easy
bro continue posting videos
thanks bro, I am working on it for sure I will. Much appreciated!
I don't know if white or black to play for the puzzles
Whichever way the board is facing. So black on the left 2 and white to play on the right 2 excersizes. Good luck solving them!
The terminology you are using is also known as a "hole" or a "outpost"
It is indeed! A hole to me is usually more connected to a weak king but is also means weak square. Thx for your comment!
