Congratulations on book release day, Bethany! I wanted to say how much I admire you! You are transparent, positive, genuine, and just amazing. Thank you for sharing your journey and for inspiring me to FINALLY make a TH-cam channel and instagram for my aspiring author journey. I’m actually nervous if I’m being honest because I have always dreamed about writing/publishing a book and making a TH-cam channel. I am hoping this will keep me accountable haha. I’m an early elementary teacher turned stay at home mom to my 6 month old son and I’m navigating balancing all the things. I love that you’re a mom and that you’re doing what makes you happy!!! Reading and writing have been my outlet as well for my mental health and anxiety! I say all this to share that along with that, your TH-cam channel has been a source of inspiration and learning for me. I am so so so excited to support your channel, journey, and book! You are doing amazing and just keep doing your thing! Sending you all the love!! :) PS sorry for the novel length comment brain dump hahaha I guess it’s fitting
I’m definitely spending much more on my first self published release… 😂😂 I’m close to $5,000 for editor, cover art, marketing, etc. Happy for you and your release! I can’t wait to get my copy soon!
Congratulations on release day! Congratulations on making a profit! 🥳 I'd love to see a video about how well a book does long term, maybe after a year and compare to how much profit it made. I love how you talk about what you would do as a first time author vs what you can do now with lots of experience 😍
Thank you so much! And that’s a fun idea-a lot tougher to figure out though because I’d have to consider all the marketing I did within a year or however long and try to (remember it all lol) and figure out which things made a difference as well… otherwise if I say how a book was going without sharing what I’d put in since it could make people think publishing is a lot easier than it is haha!
Thanks for your transparency and for sharing all the fun details! I also enjoy these types of videos! So glad that everything went well for the most part! I appreciate you sharing your stories!
Thanks this is really useful I am sure for everyone considering the self published route, as indeed I might. Congratulations on the book too, I hope it continues too sell!
Congrats on the release day! I'm so excited to get my book in the mail! It's crazy to think that you're on book 15 or 16 -- I'm not sure if you were counting this one when you mentioned the number. That's amazing! :) And I'm very glad that you made your money back and then some! Also, I watched your kickstarter video too--hoping to participate in the Kickstarter for the "Butter Book" and it is now on my list of author goals to do a kickstarter campaign myself. I think a video of tips and tricks/advice for kickstarter would be super helpful! Also, would you recommend doing kickstarter if an author hasn't built too much of a presence yet?
Yay thank you so much! I think maybe 16 but I'm not sure haha... So glad you enjoyed both videos - and I can't wait for the butter book kickstarter, I hope it'll happen soon!! Kickstarters are super fun, but they definitely require a lot of marketing from other social media/newsletter/that kind of stuff, so definitely keep building an audience leading up to doing one, it will help a lot!
These videos and your vlogs are my favorite ❤. I'm curious about the ISBNS comment though. I thought it was best to have your own if you plan on publishing across platforms, no?
I’m so happy to hear that!! Great question… I’m still experimenting, but the main reason I think someone might avoid multiple ISBNs would be to avoid confusion with duplicates right? However, every format (ebook, hardcover, paperback) needs a separate ISBN anyway. For me, my ebooks only have one ISBN because (1) Amazon doesn’t require ISBNs anymore, they have the ASIN, and (2) I use Draft2Digital and their free ISBN for all other ebooks. And then for my hardcovers, they’re currently only printed through Ingramspark, so that’s just one ISBN there also. Which means in my case, I have the same number of ISBNs I would’ve if I had purchased, and in theory they shouldn’t cause any confusion or duplicates… It’s super complicated I know, but I hope that makes sense!
@@BethanyAtazadeh haha yes very complicated, but thank you for taking the time to explain that to me and provide clarity 🙂. This helped a lot. Really appreciate it!
I’m late but I’m here! (Mom life of course😂) Happy Release Day Bethany!! 🎉🎉🎉 Wow…it’s always so crazy to see how many books you’ve published so far. I’m honestly in awe when I see all of them on screen at the same time. I’m sure this goes without saying but you should be so incredibly proud of yourself. And some of these have been published after you became a mom and now you’re pregnant with a toddler! That’s actually kind of insane haha And thank you for making such a transparent and informative video! I’ll definitely be referring back to it for whenever I start the publishing process for my own book ☺️
Yay thank you so much Jen! And I really appreciate that-the majority of the work was definitely done before babies lol, but God is good and I’ve had enough help to keep going! And so glad you enjoyed the video, that means a lot! 🥰
Thank you for a very informative, insightful video! This is very useful information :) Congrats on your release day! I always find it awesome to see indie authors releasing their books! I would say, just share the name of said company, so as to warn us. That way we'll know not to go into business with them :)
Thanks so much! And I think I forgot to talk about it in the release vlog but honestly I’m happy to share so no one else goes through my experience-it was Book of Matches Media that forgot about me and then ghosted me. Still no word to this day lol.
Wow, amazing job, Beth! Question: Do you think it is possible to be successful with a $20 budget for publishing and marketing? It’s my goal for every book (I say 20 dollars because all of it goes to my author copies and proof copy from KDP).
that's a...lot. Im thinking of giving a book tour for another go. But, I'm so glad I'm designing my own book covers, haha. Also, is there a way to send you things? Like with PO Box or something? To send you books :)
Honestly I only did once when a friend suggested one to me, otherwise I know nothing about it. But I wouldn’t work with a company, that’d be like throwing money away when they’re all easy to google and research on your own. :)
I have a question about chapter header images and ebooks , how do you put your chapter header image into your ebook? I tried with kindle create, and it went all wonky, should I hire an ebook formatter?
I use microsoft word + draft2digital for ebooks. If you want, you can check out my formatting video here for more info! th-cam.com/video/5nhepPdkpkE/w-d-xo.html
I LOVE the cover on the book that you made yourself! ❤
Yay, thank you so much!

@@BethanyAtazadeh that is absolutely true! A lot to consider!
Congratulations. You did a marvelous job. Wish I could sell that many books.
Thank you so much!!
You can. All you have to do is to write a book, then pay a lot of people to design, print and publish your book. It's easy in our days.
And congratulations 🎉 on your new book 📚 it looks awesome.
Yay thank you so much!

No problem 😊

Affinity Photo > Photoshop! No subscription fees!!!
Do you submit your books for any awards? I know there are companies that help with this?
Honestly I only did once when a friend suggested one to me, otherwise I know nothing about it. But I wouldn’t work with a company, that’d be like throwing money away when they’re all easy to google and research on your own. :)
