    Thank you again for being so helpful! What kind of Nitrate levels do you usually see in your tank with your fahaka before you’re changing water?

    • @pattys_aquatics
      @pattys_aquatics  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re welcome.. anytime. For me pre dirted tank my nitrates typically didn’t go above 40ppm but I also always had live plants in it. 40ppm is not bad I would do water changes every two weeks to a month mainly to clean up the snail shells.
      Now that the tank is dirted I don’t go over 10ppm. And honestly don’t test that often anymore. I judge it by water clarity and mess on the substrate. 😁👍

    Very nice tour of your 75 gal puffer tank, very interesting the fahaka puffer. I wish they would stay smaller to like 4-5 inch size. I might try some pea puffers for my first. Thanks for the video it was excellent 🙂👍🏻

      Thank you very much. Yes pea puffers are awesome I have 5 of them. Little murder hornets 😂 the way they hover around snails reminds me of a bee

    What does your water change schedule look like? Is he still happy in the 75? If you have the time I appreciate it!

    • @pattys_aquatics

      At that time I changed the water between every 2 weeks to a month. Mostly to suck up all the snail shells never really had issues with nitrates. I have since changed the scape of his tank, I made it a dirted substrate with lots of live plants. He seems happy to me, always begging for food😁 👍

      Thank you! I’ve been wanting one but I’m limited in space to a 75. I don’t know if you ever tried AquaAdvisor but it claims with this same setup you should be needing to do 85% water changes every week. Thank you so much for sharing!

      @@bryanremaly4833 no problem, if the fahakas get to their full growth rate of 18 inches the 75 is too small. I planned on upgrading if that happened but mine has stayed on the smaller side.
      Best way to determine maintenance is observing your tanks and seeing what’s going on. Those things obviously can’t tell every individual hobbyist when to water change your tanks because there can be hundreds of variables. 😁👍

    Patty, Curious how big has your Fahaka got in a year since the video was published

    • @pattys_aquatics
      @pattys_aquatics  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The puffer is 2 years old now and haven’t measured him but really see no noticeable growth in length in the last year. If anything an inch or so. I believe it has reached its max size for the most part.

      @@pattys_aquatics Thanks for replying. I'm thinking of housing it in a 50 gallon tank.
      1) Do you feed live feed daily (snails, crayfish) or mix it up with frozen or dry food?
      2) Lastly with all the meat the fish is eating, have you ever dewormed the fish?

    • @pattys_aquatics
      @pattys_aquatics  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@aatif_mohd just keep in mind they can get 18” and if mine had gotten bigger I would have had to upgrade to a bigger tank.
      I feed snails almost daily or every other, otherwise I feed frozen raw shrimp and frozen clam in a half shell. I feed crayfish occasionally.
      I dewormed it when I first got it, I highly recommend that. I haven’t since but it’s not a terrible idea to do occasionally.

    what type of pufferfish do you think i can keep in a 33 gallon tank?

    • @pattys_aquatics
      @pattys_aquatics  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pietrorosafauzza5005 honestly I would do some googling. I know a colony of pea puffers and I think Congo puffers would work with that but there are lots of different species. Hope that helps
