I work in a private sector bank for how long you think incompetent employees will be able to avail free services and higher pay if psu banks employees not generate or produce something more valuable than private employees. First of all, You are selecting efficient employees through a thorough exam, in 3 tiers, prelims, mains and personal interview, they devote time to prepare for that exam, and after selection, they become eligible and efficient to work. A bank's performance is not only dependent on the employee's efficiency, there are other reasons as well, like tight tax system, inflation, higher lending rates, and low income generation. The public is not responsible for banks' NPAs, large corporates are taking loans in thousands of crores and not paying them back.

In SBI, I think clerical staff may not be interested in promotion to Officer Cadre as the age criteria for officers is 50 years and for clerks it is 58 years. This policy is going to be proved as disaster for banking sector in future in view of nature of banking job which, perhaps, govt functionaries are not well aware of.
A person who works sincerely is not able to work or not willing to work in banks till his retirement age...due to work pressure toxic work culture HR policies and now government. Yes this rule should be applied everywhere for everyone who is inefficient. And someone who after giving service to the organisation till more than 57 yrs of age thinks that he/she should have work for more 3yrs are undoubtedly the most inefficient one. All IAS should also be kept on contract. Every year they should meet the targets set for their departments and keep on taking extension for next year. Why there is full security for Civil Servants and No security for other exam candidates like IBPS , GATE , RRB Other exams of state govts. Afterall everyone has joined after passing a pre requisite exam for such post. What's special in IAS and PCS ??? Just as they are the policymakers they have made all policies in favour of their interests... Same is the case with judiciary. No judge shall be permanent. They should be given extension on the basis of cases solved annually.

The problem is that with advent of AI it is really important for bankers to adapt to technology and update themselves on regular basis. I have seen most senior officers though exerienced stagnate and then either involce themselves in corrupt practices or lose motivation and hence become unproductive. I think the decision by hon'ble finance minister is right. Because, this is not threatening job security before 50 years in SBI and 55 years for other nationalized banks for officeers and for clerical it is 58 and 57 years respectively. That means if after this year one is inefficient to perform he will be retired which is quite different from private sectors. This is essential for giving new opportunities to youth to do the job and also it will facilitate national development. Many PSU bank employees are not efficient. They are hardly working for benefit of customers. This is good initiative to maintain service standards in PSU Banks. Most PSU banks are bleeding losses due to poor performing bank branches. Job security doesnt mean you can keep lazing around without doing work in office. This is giving you chance of 25 years in service before decoding your performance. I feel this review of performance must be done every year not after 25 years of service.

That means if after this year one is inefficient to perform he will be retired which is quite different from private sectors. This is essential for giving new opportunities to youth to do the job and also it will facilitate national development. In future, in central government departments also this is going to happen which is really essential. The objective of job should not be only to receive salary idly.

Stop Privatisation
Many PSU bank employees are not efficient. They are hardly working for benefit of customers. This is good initiative to maintain service standards in PSU Banks. Most PSU banks are bleeding losses due to poor performing bank branches. Job security doesnt mean you can keep lazing around without doing work in office. This is giving you chance of 25 years in service before decoding your performance. I feel this review of performance must be done every year not after 25 years of service.

Why the age has been mentioned. Efficiency and inefficiency persist in all age group. Also different age in SBI AND OTHET PSB. This is all to divert the attention of Bank employees from their demand on 5 day banking. We should unitedly pressurise for 5 day banking. RBI LIC etc are all enjoying 5 days banking since a decade. We should fight for equality.

Govt should implement this as quick as possible...e sale public sector banks ke chaprasi tak khud ko IAS IPS samajhte hai aur customers ko bebajah aank dikhate hai jabki wahi customers ke paiso se bank chal raha hai...
But this is after 55 plus years for nationalised banks officers na it is not for the young freshers who is just joining banks now before 30.
I have also cleared 2 bank's posts and joining after 4 days
