Many factors contributes to this out burst 1 formation of lakes due to melting of glacier 2 micro seismicity which makes these lakes in stable If one looks at basic of natural water cycle, there is a partial flow back to Ocean via rivers. Unfortunately we diverted or stored that water. In results ocean sending less snow Usually glacier have a meltdown rate if the snow is more than that it grow else retracted. Growing tourism increased CO2 level in these areas. In my opinion Bhasha dam and atta abad lakes may contribute to more floods in these areas
When dams become over filed with extra rain than it is a big threat to downside area. The happened in this year flood dam collapse due to extra pressure of water. In dadu area water usually enter into Dadu Canal during flood and charge the lakes but this time the volume of warer was so big that two lake become a single lake.
Melting glaciers due to global warming which Pakistan didnt have much to do with especially the poor people of these flooded regions who didnt have anything to do with it.

its Strang that most distructive flooding and torential rains occured crossed the world. but they have not mentioned. In pakistan no river flood occured at any river Except Kabal river where highest flood occured due to flash Flooding .similarly flash Flooding in Baluchistan and kp. urban flooding occured in SINDH . Its mostly routine in monsoon . Most important thing is We are still lacking in Disaster management each year millions of project and works still not competent to manage .

This made soil wet even before coming monsoon. 2) Early rains in June lead to water stagnation in catchment areas of Indus River. 3) Excessive rainfall in a short duration in August.

My understanding was that unusually early monsoon in June especially in those non catchment areas triggered the sindh floods?
It was a combination of three events.
1) Extreme heat in summer during April and May, which lead to melting of glaciars. This made soil wet even before coming monsoon.
2) Early rains in June lead to water stagnation in catchment areas of Indus River.
3) Excessive rainfall in a short duration in August.
Its climate change , miss management, population, deforestation.
