Do you ask for a black or white pilot in a plane? - Chris Pappas on race

  • “When you board a plane, you trust the pilot's skill, not their gender or race. Similarly, when your house floods, you need a plumber, regardless of race. SA faces floods of challenges, needing solutions, not divisions. Let's elect leaders with sufficient expertise to fix the serious challenges, not just talk.” - Chris Pappas
    📺 Watch as DA Mayor of uMngeni, Chris Pappas, highlights the need for solutions over divisions at the Daily Maverick Gathering.

    Not growing the economy is when is Politicians think, they can spend the people's money better than the people can do themselves. So the more the government taxes people the less the private sector and industries have to invest in creating jobs. The private sector is the ultimate creators of wealth in a country. The ANC has to restrain itself from interfering and have clear set boundaries as government should keep it's nose out of running business and the private sector... But how can they.? The food in the feeding trough is sooo delicious, they cannot offer up any restraint in this regard, for 30years now they've eaten alone and have brought nothing to the table for us South Africans as we"ve been lacking all along in every sphere of our lives...😮😢😢.

    The title of this conversation is annoying and deceptive just like the DA. It is no different from a white person saying "I prefer to take my coffee black" . What is the point about the pilot here? We can't deny that due to the effects of BEE in SA there has been a black elite than any other time in SA history. It seems that the DA is forgetting where we come from and where the majority of black people still are today. Remember BEE was espoused by Thabo Mbeki, seeking to reconnect the ANC to its roots enthusiastically embraced the idea of 'black economic empowerment' BEE, idea was borrowed from Malaysia's indigenisation program and was designed to transfer control of the economy from white SA to blacks ones. By 2006 black ownership hovered around 8%. Don't blame the ANC here. Blame the private sector that the very vocal DA is a major player. The ANC lack of initiative in this area created space for private sector to appropriate the concept for its own ends. Even Moeletsi Mbeki the chief critic of BEE has written that BEE during the negotiations process as a way of avoiding the option of nationalization, became a sop to the new political elite , a voluntary wealth redistribution resulting in the emergency of a new class of unproductive rich black politicians and ex politicians who have become key political allies of the economic oligarchy in preserving the status quo. The DA can see that there is no longer a threat of nationalization, hence the removal of BEE. Since when have the DA ever cared for the interests of the black community?

    The policy should be economic empowerment, irrespective of race. Our economy is tanking and everyone should have a fair chance at contributing meaningfully. Its Government’s responsibility to create a climate through policy in which the economy can thrive. They need to get the basics right. I would start with fixing the education system. Young people need to finish school with employable skills. It is going to take hard work and a realistic time frame to turn this ship around. All politicians should refrain from making promises they can’t keep. Rather encourage South Africans to pull together to fix our country and lead by example as Mr Papas has in Howick.

      There are many misperceptions ( wrong impressions) about the DA which are not actually true!
      The DA is no longer a white party representing only white interests! It has instead become the most racially diverse political party in the history of SA , with Black, White, Coloured and Indian South Africans all in its Top 6 leadership!!
      The DA represents the rainbow that SA has become better than any other political party!
      The DA also has a new breed of young and very capable leaders of all races (much like Chris Pappas) across all of the 9 Provinces in SA!!
      As Mandela and the Springboks have shown us, we are much stronger as a nation and get much better results when we work together!!
      The DA represents the interests all ALL South Africans equally, and also puts SA first before the political party!!

    Leaders are not plumbers and pilots, us native Africans know that from our experience of colonialism and apartheid. So, our thinking works differently from the thinking of those who never experienced injustice.
    With that mentality, you are likely to be surprised how little your numbers will be after elections.

    • @W.GlobalAffairs
      @W.GlobalAffairs 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yourfriendlyneighbourhoods8202 , we not looking for justice coz our justice for apartheid to end - we are looking for leaders of an African nation. See, South Africa is one big kingdom, we are all the same and we are one. In Africa, a kingdom needs a leader and that is why you see people gravitate to a leader in Africa. But a leader of an African kingdom cannot be a stranger. If you want to lead African people and an African kingdom, make sure you are one of them first. The only person that has done that on the DA, is Chi's papas. The others think they can just lead remotely, but it doesnt work like that in Africa.

    We have more than 3,5 million white people who have never voted for anything except white led parties, in 1994 fresh from apartheid they voted for National Party not Mandela but FW De Klerk because he was white, National Party was dissolved Democratic Party and National Party merged and DA was formed still consistently the same number of white voters vote for DA, so now that the DA wants power Africans are told not to vote on racial lines and vote for DA, we do have Africans who can clean up this anc mess, we work for private sector we are still seeing what our parents used to see, you can never see white general workers or young white people being exploited as interns, they are giving supervisory positions even if they nothing.DA is nothing but a party that is here to protect the interests of certain racial groups unfortunately for them they need Africans voters to get into power to do that, DA in Cape Town and Tshwane doesn't care about black people you can see that in how service delivery is done in our Townships.
