I wonder why in this season, they sometimes skipped a puzzle. There were 4 episodes where the 40 point puzzle was skipped (including this one) 2 episodes where the 50 point puzzle was skipped, and 1 episode where the 30 point puzzle was skipped.

This is just a hunch but I’m guessing they filmed it with the usual 6 puzzles but no one got the 40 point puzzle right so it was edited out of the episode in post production. It’s the classic case of “portions of this show not affecting the final outcome of the game have been edited”.
It’s probably because no one got it right as it didn’t happen in season 2 so I think everyone missed the 40 and it was edited to save time because it wasn’t like it was the 100 point puzzle since the 100 is important.
