Geez. That was my first pro synth back in '82. Had one of the first preordered. What a beast. But patch memory and temperature instability a pain to use onstage. Would buy it again (not on its current price tag, though)
I loaned a musician buddy of mine my Korg 770 and Korg Mono/poly 20 plus years ago. He passed last year and they were returned to me. I had no idea anyone was playing this these days. I restored it and I'm trying to relearn them. This channel is my favorite teaching tool! At 67 I need all the help I can get. I've seen you do things on the Mono/poly I never knew were possible. I am running it with a Lexicon mpx 100 I got on Ebay and it sounds pretty sweet! There is a lot of nuance to a lot of these patches so I'm enjoying digging in to it. It makes my tinnitus bearable, I just hope they don't run me out of my retirement community! Lol
The thing I love about the paraphonic nature of the Mono/Poly and synths similar to it is how it sounds and plays when you vary the pitch and/or waveform settings of the oscillators in Poly mode. You demonstrated that perfectly here! I don’t personally own a Mono/Poly, but this is something I do often on my DSI Pro 2. The Mono/Poly also has one of the coolest arpeggiators ever, in my opinion. I also think it’s one of the best looking synths out there.
Great job. Creating sounds is no easy task. So many options on the mono poly. Then you have write down the settings in your little diagram book to come back to. I have had one for 30 years, love it.
@@tubthump last time I played it quite some time ago, but keys held up perfect. One of the outputs burned out but there still is microphone jack. Just recently dug out some old tapes of my playing which I’ll turn digital. When the kids are older I plan to set it up in a music room and set it up again, we will so though when I can take over a room…….
Great reminder of what she sounds like ... I need to bring myself to change mine from her current settings before I finally record in tempo to a click track (that arpeggiator for different Osc.s is sublime)! I'm always slightly irritated by that apparent quote on line of Vice Clarke saying it sounds like 4 'cheap monos' (though I can't see the original ref. anywhere which is almost certainly taken out of context) ... I have mine next to a Pro One, Minimoog D, OBXa, C60 and Juno 106, 101 amongst a fair handful of others and it does something that none of them can and certainly doesn't sit in the shadows of any of them ... it sits above the D and the Pro One for me though I love them all. This is a really special synth for me, and your performance says it all. Thank you for the chance to hear it played so well in the hands of another that appreciates it so sympathetically. Bravo.
oooohhh. this was my first proper synth, i bought it instantly when it came out, one week later or so. absolute gem. had to go for the first DX7. but today now that´s seller's regret!
@@markolijus yes the perfourmer is a great advice ! but keep in mind that if you really want a monopoly, this is what you should get ; save money, take your time, and hunt it ;) I waited 1 year for a specific gear that was hard to find ; It worth the wait ;
The Moog Matriarch is very similar in terms of being a 4-voice paraphonic synth with round-robin capabilities. A lot of great FM options like on the MonoPoly. I'm loving mine, it's completely scratched that itch I had for the MonoPoly
this is superb. i own a korg mono/poly and it certainly has that je ne sais quoi. i'm just in the process on deciding on whether i should send CV from my DAW via Polyend or expert sleepers ES 3. it has a few inputs... (1) pitch (2) gate (3) VCO fm/in (4) VCF fcm in (5) Porta etc. will the Polyend do the job? ES 3 is more deep but i may have to set it up as aggregate device alongside my interface and that comes with a few downsides
Hey do you have a patch picture? I just got the behringer monopoly (see the Video on my Profile if you want)and wanted to compare the sound by replicating Patches like yours
tis a lovely synth
is it hard to find these in good condition?
true!
Let7ing - a few a year pop up. Mostly around 1400 euro. I own one with midi. Not selling :)

i realize Im pretty off topic but do anyone know of a good website to watch newly released series online ?
If you had a spotify account that had nothing but lovely synth jams like this, I would listen to it every day.

Amazed this only has ~6000 views. Hands down the most beautiful monopoly demonstration I’ve seen.
Beautifully done. Really enjoyed this open ended play through. 👍

How's the functionality of the keys doing?!

Brotha, this gave me goosebumps. I bloody love it
Thank you for sharing that was great ! I really love when you express yourself through those old Korg synth
Fabulous performance .
This is one of my favorite go to videos! It never gets old - well done!!
you should defiantly do a tutorial on synthesis
Damn that thing is sweet!!! It mews so nicely
Amazing work!
I really like your synth improv stuff thanks.
That filter sounds great
has a nice edge and dreamy fluidity. Keep it ;-)
Awesome as usual
What a great sounds!
Nice. Have this on my iPad... and ignoring it. Should revisit. 🤔
Great jam, lovely sounds! I wonder if there is a modern synth similar to mono/poly?
The Vermona Perfourmer might get pretty close in some aspects. It sounds fantastic, you should check it out.
@@JuanAMatos-zx4ub will do! tnx man.

Behringer have one comin
Sounds like a mix of moog and dave Smith 😮
Thank you.
If you switch from here to there, you can see the effect it has on the plants.

Make a video making a beat using only this beast of a synth
Please, the settings at 14:10 !!

My first "real" synth, he is broken now and i cry...
what is this condenser microphone behind you?
KOrg gives me a monopoly
A sample pack it would be awsome
Nah bro, pretendin' the Mono/Poly is a ROMpler is doin' it a disservice.
