I personally loved Gege's story from start to finish. There is one thing that I am bummed about. I'm not bummed that Gojo didn't come back because I think his death makes the story more impactful. I just think we should have gotten more with his death. Any of his students showing any emotion about it? A funeral for him or at least a shot of the students at his grave? Even just the students talking about Gojo would have been nice. Other than his Yuji giving Megumi and Nobara his letters they never even mentioned Gojo. Anyway I still love this story and will read whatever it is Gege does next. Thanks for all you do and look forward to more content going forward!

The ending is as shounen as it can get and i think it is completely fitting for a story liek kaisen. Your theories, positive attitude and community building have definitely been one of the highlights of the journey for me. Thank you for that. I still feel very mixed about this ending and that's going to take a while to settle. Positives - it was great to see the trio in action again. Anyone that hasn't seen the raws of the Yuji and Nobara goofing around again, go check it out. The unexpected depth from Sukuna was fascinating and it was good if bittersweet to see Gojo again and get yet more hints of depth from him. In an awkward way we have Gege highlighting Yuji's empathy (probably the 'strength' different to Gojo's) and I was interested by another way cursed users can affect ordinary people with the cursing of the former hostess - it broadened the world again. Negatives - it just felt very unsatisfying and lacklustre compared to the potential Gege had built up. One major thing he could have immediately done to make things better was give Gojo a proper send-off, it feels notable by its absence. To have Gojo saying people should forget him and he had hopes and dreams as well was frankly heart-breaking. If Gege had addressed this and given him a proper send-off then yes it would have been sad, but at least his arc would have been complete. I don't like to assign feelings to authors I can't be sure of, but it really did feel like Gege just wants us to move on from Gojo which is a shame because he's created such a compelling character. The sections with Sukuna were odd and quite WTF. Again, I really felt like if he was going to introduce this, he needed to take time with it. Sukuna the whole time was a demon, he never seemed to care, now we learn he might have and he did resent the way he was treated growing up. That, if handled correctly, would have been fascinating and would have added to the depth of his relationships with Yuji and Gojo. It's so frustrating because there's so much here that I feel Gege just didn't know what to do with and wasn't interested in. Same with Kenjaku who was completely wasted, Yuki who was completed wasted, even the worldbuilding with this chapter's curse-user - is there an Azkaban-style prison for curse-users? I don't think him stalking and cursing an innocent woman should be taken so lightly...If JJK was a novel, I'd tell him it was great as a first draft, but to go away and redraft it. Anyways, thanks again.
I don't really see a purpose to the start of this final chapter. Sure it's like them rejoicing and working together but isn't that assumed... I appreciate your coverage on jjk and all the insight each chapter thank you!

I feel like the main problem is that we were so used to Gege showing that everything is almost over and then twisting it (like with gojo's death or the many times they "almost" defeated Sukuna) so we expected some great twist at the end. But they told us the climax was like 4 chapters ago, this was just an epilogue. Not every question was answered but if the problem with a manga is that we wanted more of it, it means it was good, doesn't it? I wanted to know what happened with the rest of the world (especially the US military), I wanted Kenjaku to have a secret plan, I wanted more about the clans, etc. But we didn't need to have that for the story to make sense. I was also coping for Gojo but he won the ideological battle and the next generation will continue his legacy, like we see when Yuji talks to the stalker. The ending was ok, it felt underwhelming, yes, but it's just because I didn't wanted to end, I wanted more story and lore. But it's not a bad ending and it was definitely a great manga

This final chapter was genuinely almost perfect and i also think I understand why gojo had zero mentions or appearances as his wish was for the characters and the audience to forget about him but yuji with a child mind didn’t understand that he was only viewed as a tool. We didn’t need a funeral cuz we got sweet moments from the only people that viewed gojo as a human, yuji and yuta carried gojo’s will, megumi genuinely laughed for the first time, shoko was hiding her grief with non chalance😢. Sukuna had a 10/10 ending too so overall, although jjk had 4 useless chapters before this and multiple questions weren’t addressed or left open ended, i believe the good parts that i will remember will far outweigh the bad. Rip to my fav character of all time gojo😢 and im excited for kagura bachi.

I just want to point out something regarding the editor comment that says “Look Forward To Gege’s next series”. I hate to be the bearer of potential bad news, but this is something Shonen Jump editors say at the end of every Shonen Jump series. Even the cancelled series. Its just a way for the editor to say “thanks for the support! If youre a fan, please continue to support this mangaka in their future endeavors”. It doesnt necessarily mean that the creator is actively developing a new series at this moment. Im sure Gege WILL be back one day, and isnt retiring. And maybe he IS working on something this very moment. Just pointing out that this is something Shonen Jump will says whether the author will be back in a year, or if they’ll be back in 10 years

Im so fucking livid rn... Shinjuku had its flaws, but it was still an amazing arc for the story, and then with these last chapters Gege puts a lot of things in place for the story to continue, as in: 1. The clans might enter a war since Gojo is gone; 2. The whole world knows about CE now; 3. Tengen's barriers and the Culling game continue; And then THE FUCKING MANGA ENDS WITH A FILLER-ESQUE CHAPTER. I used to hate the term Disney Kaisen because no story is perfect, but this is unironically the biggest fumble in Shonen HISTORY 😭 Gege was cooking and then forgot how to write
Because the story ended on a cliff hanger and a normal mission or as you put it "filler"; you hate the ending? Can you explain why? As a writer I like to end my stories the same way because I want the audience to know that even after the story ends the world is still active and lives on-- Also if I want to pick it back up I can.
You clearly didn't read the chapters yourself because if you did then you would know that there is no clan war anything and that was a mistranslation and we were told last chapter there's plenty of time to worry about Tengen Barrier later and that the Culling are over.

@@Jreed280 I really think it’s the opposite. I think it meant infinitely more coming from Yuji because Gojo believed that he and the other students will become the new Jujutsu society. I think it was far more important to Gojo what they think because they will be the ones who will shape the Jujutsu world in the future and thus how Gojo will be remembered.
Edit: this is was in the end, but I move up: Thank for all your amazing work, this is prolly my favourite anime/manga (maybe 2nd to made in abyss), and this journey was way better with your vids. From explanations to just your enthusiastic approach to something that we love it was an amazing time. Trully thank you. I ve been saying this since sukuna got killed: there will be no twists, no tsukyomi, no new threat, the story already went full circle and it was beautiful, everything after was a prologue. Most ppl that are disapointed dont get that this is a story of a good kid (maad city). The darkness and unforgivening nature of jjk world just elevate good actions and mentalitys are hard to keep, and how transforming they really can be. Something that I dont see much talk, jump kaisen is only related to yuji. From gojo to sukuna to yuki and even yuta fighting with other ppl is almost always presented as a weakeness, but yuji empathy is one of his real superpowers. He is not the strongest by any margin, even in the end, but he overcome way stronger opponents by a raw take on power of friendship: he work together sinergistically with ppl who trully trust on him. Gojo got his dream come true (nah Id win), not by being the strongest (which since sukuna he was not), but by being a generally good guy and a good sensei. From the two that want to die (higuruma/megumi) to way less drastic cases, everyone keep moving foward and doing good because either Gojo/yuji goodness keeps living on them. I love the last "I am not Humble by believing my dream will come true after my death, this will happened because I made it happen". But Yuji case is even more beautifull. The boy cursed to save others by his grandpa could never save more then him (sukuna in shibuya) killed. Then he got cursed by nanami to be a clog and keep killing curses because this is the war. Somehow he broke every curse the grownups put on him (this is such a beautiul metaphor) and turn into a fully realised man. And this maturity come to him being even more good/empathic, so his "love" reach even the king of curses. Not in a childlike way, he doesnt went "nagato", but if he value nothing more than true strenght and lost, he was just wrong, no reason to even dwell in that like mahito. Anyway, this may be my favourite manga/anime (perhaps second to made in abyss), and I am a little sad it may be perceived as "bad ending" when it really was perfect but missunderstud. I almost want a "nobody understand JJK" kind of deep dive

There will be a part 2 imo. The Gege may need to milk the fruits of his labor( or w.e the saying is) for a bit before announcing the Pt2. Naruto did not move on to Shippuden immediately, and that was awesome. We'll get a Pt 2 announcement when we least expect it due to it's success from modern anime fans. It's not trivial, just good business. Plus, this ending was incomplete. We'll get a chapter filling in some more questions about the end that will lead into a time skip. Also Yuta over Yuji lol.

the funniest part for me is doing the kanjaku gag in the last few chapters and then leaving it there, not even revealing that it was a random dude dressed like kenny for a takaba joke. he introduced so many things like that then never addressed or gave the hastiest and shitiest ending to. i honestly don't get why he decided to ruin everything like this.

Gege basically use this useless two pages to flashback to back Gojo. To speak directly through Gojo to the his fans to them: "forget about me, I'm done my character Arc is over think about the future and let the idea of Gojo go". It's one thing to waste the other four chapters but you give us that without any actual part of morning especially from Yuta. 5.6/10

Yes, the manga was falling off long before th gojo shit but lets be honest. With how he set up the future of the jjk verse to "surpass gojo" just to have gojo stand as the pinncale (other than sukuna) shows you that he changed his intentions due to the popularity of the character. Heck you said it yourself, he wasted 2 pages just to tell people move on from this character cause he clearly grew tired of catering to them and them being OBSESSED AF over him. JJK had to potential to be one of the GREATEST but just like a lot of it's predecessors (especially naruto) it fell flat. End of story. The fandom and manga all the way till we got to the middle fo the culling games was peak. Constant theories and ppl enjoying the story/fights. If you were a weekly reader i bet you remember when a lot of people dropped the manga during kashimo vs hakari because it was "boring", "too complicated", "culling games mid" blah blah blah.
I think what we as a fandom need is a series of non-canon, DBZ style movies. We could have some post-canon so we have our main 3, a flashback one with Gojo and Geto, or even a Heian Era Movie. Would be a great way to keep the series alive, with all sorts of cool new fights, villains, fun CTs, give some love to underutilized characters, etc

Honestly, after taking some time to think about it, this was a really nice chapter by itself. We got to see the trio working together again. We got a Gojo flashback with him giving basically his final thoughts to Yuji, having confidence that he'll lead the next generation of sorcerers. We even got to see Sukuna briefly show introspection and self doubt, admitting that he lost, in contrast to Mahito who really is the true curse. Its just underwhelming as the final chapter, especially with so many questions left unanswered and expanded lore left unexplored. Like who the hell was Takaba talking to? How did Kenjaku maintain his curse technique after a domain expansion? What did the Merger look like? Detachment from cursed energy vs optimizing cursed energy? What happened to Tengens remains and her barriers? How did world operate now that sorcerers and cursed spirits were public knowledge? The collapse of the big 3 clans? How did the next generation of sorcerers operate with all the old leaders dead? What happened to Yuji's mother and father? Yuji's Domain Expansion name and full effects? Never seeing Megumi and Yuji at their full potential once they mastered their techniques. Gege spent over 40 chapters writing the Shinjuku Showdown arc, which literally happened over the course a few hours at most, and yet he only gave us 5 rushed chapters to end everything when it needed 50. In my personal opinion, this was good chapter, but it was a bad ending 🫤
Do all those things NEED to be answered to have a good ending? I'm a writer by the way so- curious Also I believe Tengen was answered. She was still inside Sukuna so they used Sukuna's remains to hold up the barrier a little while longer.
Gege really did hate Gojo! Gojo was shown ZERO respect in death, damn! Gege was pushed into continuing the story after Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Was this whole story all about getting rid of Saturu Gojo?... Now Gege can get to writing without the albatross of Saturu Gojo hanging around his neck.
after a whole year of watching jjk, and some months of discovering this channel im truly sad its all going to end, genuinely one of the only times ive cried even if the ending isn't emotional, jjk changed my life in so many ways im gonna miss it all

I think what Gojo said was Gege's hope of the story growing beyond Gojo. But I felt so bad for Gojo when he said haven't we had enough of Gojo Satoru. No, we have not. We may have had enough of his powers but not enough of Gojo. I think Gojo got the only closure he would have wanted but i wish they'd explore something of him and his friends returning but without their jujutsu powers.

Your theories, positive attitude and community building have definitely been one of the highlights of the journey for me. Thank you for that. I still feel very mixed about this ending and that's going to take a while to settle. Positives - it was great to see the trio in action again. Anyone that hasn't seen the raws of the Yuji and Nobara goofing around again, go check it out. The unexpected depth from Sukuna was fascinating and it was good if bittersweet to see Gojo again and get yet more hints of depth from him. In an awkward way we have Gege highlighting Yuji's empathy (probably the 'strength' different to Gojo's) and I was interested by another way cursed users can affect ordinary people with the cursing of the former hostess - it broadened the world again. Negatives - it just felt very unsatisfying and lacklustre compared to the potential Gege had built up. One major thing he could have immediately done to make things better was give Gojo a proper send-off, it feels notable by its absence. To have Gojo saying people should forget him and he had hopes and dreams as well was frankly heart-breaking. If Gege had addressed this and given him a proper send-off then yes it would have been sad, but at least his arc would have been complete. I don't like to assign feelings to authors I can't be sure of, but it really did feel like Gege just wants us to move on from Gojo which is a shame because he's created such a compelling character.
The sections with Sukuna were odd and quite WTF. Again, I really felt like if he was going to introduce this, he needed to take time with it. Sukuna the whole time was a demon, he never seemed to care, now we learn he might have and he did resent the way he was treated growing up. That, if handled correctly, would have been fascinating and would have added to the depth of his relationships with Yuji and Gojo. It's so frustrating because there's so much here that I feel Gege just didn't know what to do with and wasn't interested in. Same with Kenjaku who was completely wasted, Yuki who was completed wasted, even the worldbuilding with this chapter's curse-user - is there an Azkaban-style prison for curse-users? I don't think him stalking and cursing an innocent woman should be taken so lightly...If JJK was a novel, I'd tell him it was great as a first draft, but to go away and redraft it. Anyways, thanks again.
I don't really see a purpose to the start of this final chapter. Sure it's like them rejoicing and working together but isn't that assumed...

I feel like the main problem is that we were so used to Gege showing that everything is almost over and then twisting it (like with gojo's death or the many times they "almost" defeated Sukuna) so we expected some great twist at the end. But they told us the climax was like 4 chapters ago, this was just an epilogue. Not every question was answered but if the problem with a manga is that we wanted more of it, it means it was good, doesn't it? I wanted to know what happened with the rest of the world (especially the US military), I wanted Kenjaku to have a secret plan, I wanted more about the clans, etc. But we didn't need to have that for the story to make sense.
I was also coping for Gojo but he won the ideological battle and the next generation will continue his legacy, like we see when Yuji talks to the stalker.
The ending was ok, it felt underwhelming, yes, but it's just because I didn't wanted to end, I wanted more story and lore. But it's not a bad ending and it was definitely a great manga

This final chapter was genuinely almost perfect and i also think I understand why gojo had zero mentions or appearances as his wish was for the characters and the audience to forget about him but yuji with a child mind didn’t understand that he was only viewed as a tool. We didn’t need a funeral cuz we got sweet moments from the only people that viewed gojo as a human, yuji and yuta carried gojo’s will, megumi genuinely laughed for the first time, shoko was hiding her grief with non chalance😢. Sukuna had a 10/10 ending too so overall, although jjk had 4 useless chapters before this and multiple questions weren’t addressed or left open ended, i believe the good parts that i will remember will far outweigh the bad. Rip to my fav character of all time gojo😢 and im excited for kagura bachi.

I hate to be the bearer of potential bad news, but this is something Shonen Jump editors say at the end of every Shonen Jump series. Even the cancelled series.
Its just a way for the editor to say “thanks for the support! If youre a fan, please continue to support this mangaka in their future endeavors”. It doesnt necessarily mean that the creator is actively developing a new series at this moment.
Im sure Gege WILL be back one day, and isnt retiring. And maybe he IS working on something this very moment. Just pointing out that this is something Shonen Jump will says whether the author will be back in a year, or if they’ll be back in 10 years

Shinjuku had its flaws, but it was still an amazing arc for the story, and then with these last chapters Gege puts a lot of things in place for the story to continue, as in:
1. The clans might enter a war since Gojo is gone;
2. The whole world knows about CE now;
3. Tengen's barriers and the Culling game continue;
And then THE FUCKING MANGA ENDS WITH A FILLER-ESQUE CHAPTER.
I used to hate the term Disney Kaisen because no story is perfect, but this is unironically the biggest fumble in Shonen HISTORY 😭 Gege was cooking and then forgot how to write

I ve been saying this since sukuna got killed: there will be no twists, no tsukyomi, no new threat, the story already went full circle and it was beautiful, everything after was a prologue. Most ppl that are disapointed dont get that this is a story of a good kid (maad city). The darkness and unforgivening nature of jjk world just elevate good actions and mentalitys are hard to keep, and how transforming they really can be.
Something that I dont see much talk, jump kaisen is only related to yuji. From gojo to sukuna to yuki and even yuta fighting with other ppl is almost always presented as a weakeness, but yuji empathy is one of his real superpowers. He is not the strongest by any margin, even in the end, but he overcome way stronger opponents by a raw take on power of friendship: he work together sinergistically with ppl who trully trust on him.
Gojo got his dream come true (nah Id win), not by being the strongest (which since sukuna he was not), but by being a generally good guy and a good sensei. From the two that want to die (higuruma/megumi) to way less drastic cases, everyone keep moving foward and doing good because either Gojo/yuji goodness keeps living on them. I love the last "I am not Humble by believing my dream will come true after my death, this will happened because I made it happen".
But Yuji case is even more beautifull. The boy cursed to save others by his grandpa could never save more then him (sukuna in shibuya) killed. Then he got cursed by nanami to be a clog and keep killing curses because this is the war. Somehow he broke every curse the grownups put on him (this is such a beautiul metaphor) and turn into a fully realised man. And this maturity come to him being even more good/empathic, so his "love" reach even the king of curses. Not in a childlike way, he doesnt went "nagato", but if he value nothing more than true strenght and lost, he was just wrong, no reason to even dwell in that like mahito.
Anyway, this may be my favourite manga/anime (perhaps second to made in abyss), and I am a little sad it may be perceived as "bad ending" when it really was perfect but missunderstud. I almost want a "nobody understand JJK" kind of deep dive

There will be a part 2 imo. The Gege may need to milk the fruits of his labor( or w.e the saying is) for a bit before announcing the Pt2. Naruto did not move on to Shippuden immediately, and that was awesome. We'll get a Pt 2 announcement when we least expect it due to it's success from modern anime fans. It's not trivial, just good business. Plus, this ending was incomplete. We'll get a chapter filling in some more questions about the end that will lead into a time skip. Also Yuta over Yuji lol.

Yes, the manga was falling off long before th gojo shit but lets be honest. With how he set up the future of the jjk verse to "surpass gojo" just to have gojo stand as the pinncale (other than sukuna) shows you that he changed his intentions due to the popularity of the character. Heck you said it yourself, he wasted 2 pages just to tell people move on from this character cause he clearly grew tired of catering to them and them being OBSESSED AF over him. JJK had to potential to be one of the GREATEST but just like a lot of it's predecessors (especially naruto) it fell flat. End of story. The fandom and manga all the way till we got to the middle fo the culling games was peak. Constant theories and ppl enjoying the story/fights. If you were a weekly reader i bet you remember when a lot of people dropped the manga during kashimo vs hakari because it was "boring", "too complicated", "culling games mid" blah blah blah.

I think what we as a fandom need is a series of non-canon, DBZ style movies. We could have some post-canon so we have our main 3, a flashback one with Gojo and Geto, or even a Heian Era Movie. Would be a great way to keep the series alive, with all sorts of cool new fights, villains, fun CTs, give some love to underutilized characters, etc
That'd be cool. It seems like non-canon anime movies aren't really a thing as much these days, unfortunately.
Im baffled buffetled and confused by this ending, also there is so much left unsaid and thats what im most disappointed in. However I can say that Gege truly did give me an emotional train wreck with this so for that I thank him along with The Goat Manganimist

Honestly, after taking some time to think about it, this was a really nice chapter by itself. We got to see the trio working together again. We got a Gojo flashback with him giving basically his final thoughts to Yuji, having confidence that he'll lead the next generation of sorcerers. We even got to see Sukuna briefly show introspection and self doubt, admitting that he lost, in contrast to Mahito who really is the true curse.
Its just underwhelming as the final chapter, especially with so many questions left unanswered and expanded lore left unexplored. Like who the hell was Takaba talking to? How did Kenjaku maintain his curse technique after a domain expansion? What did the Merger look like? Detachment from cursed energy vs optimizing cursed energy? What happened to Tengens remains and her barriers? How did world operate now that sorcerers and cursed spirits were public knowledge? The collapse of the big 3 clans? How did the next generation of sorcerers operate with all the old leaders dead? What happened to Yuji's mother and father? Yuji's Domain Expansion name and full effects? Never seeing Megumi and Yuji at their full potential once they mastered their techniques. Gege spent over 40 chapters writing the Shinjuku Showdown arc, which literally happened over the course a few hours at most, and yet he only gave us 5 rushed chapters to end everything when it needed 50.
In my personal opinion, this was good chapter, but it was a bad ending 🫤

Also I believe Tengen was answered. She was still inside Sukuna so they used Sukuna's remains to hold up the barrier a little while longer.

Gege was pushed into continuing the story after Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Was this whole story all about getting rid of Saturu Gojo?... Now Gege can get to writing without the albatross of Saturu Gojo hanging around his neck.

I think what Gojo said was Gege's hope of the story growing beyond Gojo.
But I felt so bad for Gojo when he said haven't we had enough of Gojo Satoru. No, we have not. We may have had enough of his powers but not enough of Gojo. I think Gojo got the only closure he would have wanted but i wish they'd explore something of him and his friends returning but without their jujutsu powers.
