  • Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument was once considered the most dangerous National Park, this Sonoran Desert park is the only place in the US where the Organ Pipe Cactus grows wild. In this video, we drive the scenic Ajo Mountain Drive and do two hikes along the way. We learn about Organ Pipe Cacti and saw other cacti bloom for the first time!
    😄 Stick around for bloopers at the end of the video!

    📖 Our favorite book to plan road trips is Most Scenic Drives in America which includes 120 spectacular road trips. We have had the book for many years and have done multiple itineraries from the book and we have never been disappointed. It even survived downsizing from 4-bed house to a 21ft travel trailer :) Check it out here:

      What are your favorite National Park Units in the USA?
      I'm partial to Glacier, The Tetons, Seqouia/Kings Canyon, Death Valley, and Grand Staircase/Escalante.

      Oh yes, it is quite a big list of National Park Units in Alaska. The logistics to get to all of them will be tough.

      Yes, some of them you actually have to fly into or over. 😂

    Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is one of the two crown jewels on f the National Park System in Arizona, the other being the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The biodiversity of this stunning landscape is amazing! Just finished my second visit (March 23-25, 2021) and was so sad to leave as there is so much to experience. Tent camped at Twin Peaks and was lucky to get the last first come, first served spot. Half of the campsites are closed and those that were open, including the RV sections, were almost full.
    The Ajo Mountain Drive and hikes were stunning! The loop drive on North and South Puerto Blanco Drives are open and have several great hikes and points of interest. The springs at Quitobaquito is an amazing desert oasis with a family of American Coots occupying the pond. This was my second visit, the first being in December 2019. Next visit must be during the summer months for the variety of birds plus the monsoon!

    Thanks for you videos, I'm really enjoying them! Just discovered your channel yesterday. I live in California's Monterey Bay area and will be doing a two week Southwest road trip in October. I plan on visiting a few national parks throughout my journey and am curious about the book you're using to put the national park stamps in. Can you let me know what the book is called and if it can be purchased on Amazon?

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welcome to our channel! Monterey is awesome, we used to live in SF Bay Area and had visited Monterey many times. The book for stamps we are using is called Passport To Your National Parks® Collector's Edition (www.eparks.com/product/128482/Passport-To-Your-National-Parks%C2%AE-Collector%27s-Edition/) - it has space for all the National Park Units.
      Before living in the RV, we used the smaller blue version Passport To Your National Parks® Classic Edition (www.eparks.com/product/22515/Passport-To-Your-National-Parks%C2%AE-Classic-Edition/) and each region has limited spaces so we filled one of the regions in three of those books.
      They are listed on Amazon (affiliate links below), but unfortunately, they are often out of stock.
      The explorer edition: amzn.to/2Lgloi5
      Small blue edition: amzn.to/2NMt66J
      You can also buy them at pretty much any national park unit bookstore.

    How the Outdoors RV trailer working out still all good and holding up?

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it has been more than a year and our Outdoors RV travel trailer has been doing great! Sure, minor things, like loose screws here and there are inevitable from the rough roads we are taking the trailer on, but nothing major. Overall we are still very happy with it and the places it has taken us.
