    I'm sorry, but that whole "that's still your momma, sister, cousin, brother...etc" is just an excuse within our community to dismiss toxic behaviors. Mom is dealing with resentment & anger, I could tell when she mentioned that her mom deals with her daughter not really her son and the daughter has a lot of anger to. Hitting a child in the face for your neglect...because you left matches around for him to set a fire, is nothing but anger and it's not right.
    It's a lot of generational traumas that they both have to break to be both mothers & daughters-- because they're taking it out on their children but looking for love in each other. They have to deal with that trauma first.

    "You're not going to sit here & act like I'm a bad parent." Told me everything I needed to know.
    Your child(ren) ultimately determine if you are a good/bad parent, not you. They are the ones on the recieving/observing end of the treatment given to them.
    Parents need to listen to their chilldren & their feelings, not dismiss & automatically think they're right just because they are the parent. This is how you start to form a healthy relationship.

Then you try to run your child over…what’s there to communicate? “mom…I just want you to know that what you did hurt me.” She already laughed at her and called her a clown…what you think is next? I get children are supposed to respect their parents…but y’all parents need to respect your children as well. “Us parents make mistakes” that wasn’t no mistake, she knew exactly what she was doing. That’s not a mistake…it’s a choice and her choice was to harm her child. If your hurting your child and then questioning why they don’t communicate with you…I’m not going to lie…you’re quite dumb…? Why would your child want to communicate with you when you have hurt them!! TRIED TO KILL THEM!? nah that’s horrible parenting. Idk how you raise your children or child…but if you’re trying to make a statement that parents make mistakes and even though she was in the wrong blah blah…ain’t no excuses for that kind of behavior. The daughter states that at age 12 that is where her relationship went sour with her mother and that was also the age that her mother got pregnant. The mother is stuck at age 12. The mother sees herself in her daughter. There is resentment but there is love. Depending on whether the daughter was conceived out of rape or by a boy within the same age range as the mother could also be an angle as to why the dynamic of the relationship is the way it is as well.

    Aa an individual who grew up with an abusive mother and lived in foster care and group home as a child, I’ve come to the realization that I will never get the love and acceptance from my mother. I’ve realized a long time ago that my mother isn’t capable of loving herself much less loving another person. My mother never wanted to be a mother. I don’t trust her with my kids and I never will. I accept that she’s my mother but I put her where she belongs. I’ve since learned that she will never accept responsibility and apologize for what she did.

    My mom’s mother called CPS on my mom back in my junior year of high school. My mom initially believed it was one of my cousins who is pretty judgmental but the case worker that stopped by did a house check and proceeded to ask my mom what her relationship with her mother was like. My mom put 2 and 2 together and later on down the line, my mom’s first cousin, who she was raised with, finally told her that she called. We cut her completely off and believe it or not it wasn’t because of that. She has done so many wicked things down the line and we just finally had enough of her bullshit. It’s crazy because that same narcissist spirit tried to come and over take my mom and for a while we butt heads BAD but we’re waking every day towards healing. My grandma put my mom through HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL and despite my mom’s demons, she’s still a bomb ass mother and because God gives me grace and mercy everyday, I return the same to her. It's so important to have nurturing soft qualities as a mom. Every child should be used to being hugged and told I love you often by their mother. From both parents actually. The pathology of this family is abuse and that's not ok

    • @capturedbyshelly
      @capturedbyshelly ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@capturedbyshelly Valid question. I’ll use myself as an example. My mother was not a nurturer, hugger or soft by any means. I now am a mom myself and due to knowing the feeling of not being supported, hugged, or protected, I couldn’t imagine making my sons feel that way. If therapy is needed to learn certain tools to heal past traumas that’s just fine. It is learned behaviors after all. Parents have to sit in their own feelings and I mean really sit in them. Looking at your child’s eyes full of tears, sadness and fear should be enough reason to stop in your tracks, apologize and self correct. Surrounding yourself with other mothers who are nurturing and loving is also a great influence and you begin to build a tribe full of healthy relationships

    • @karmen9514
      @karmen9514 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @capturedbyshelly My mom was like that and all my sisters say is "that's just how she is" they got over it. Me going through other trauma and having no safe space, got it embedded deeper than they did. They left home had kids and became soft. Me I left and had a child... that's that. I did what I had to do to care for her and it took me 6 years to realize I need therapy. It's hard to be soft and have compassion for anyone. I can pretend and try to follow the norms but it's not genuine. I also chose to put my child in therapy because I don't want her to end up negative like me, even though she's not I want to do everything possible to prevent it.

    1. The mother, Rosemary, is trash. Period. And this idea that you have to love and respect your mother anyway is garbage, too. You do NOT have to allow someone to abuse you, treat you horribly, and harm you, and just accept it and force yourself to “love” them. That is a false antiquated idea and it’s one of the reasons we have so much generational trauma. And yeah, the mother got pregnant at an early age, and of course that causes trauma, but that doesn’t excuse her torturing the daughter and taking her issues out on her. Plenty of mothers out there were teen moms, but they don’t grow up to abuse and torture their children. Rosemary seems to be jealous of her daughter because she feels her own mother is kinder to her daughter, but that’s not an excuse to treat your daughter poorly. Trying to run her over? Trying to cut her. Throwing glass pieces at her? Stop. Anybody defending this is either a poor parent or a damaged brainwashed child. 2. The daughter needs to be careful with her own attitude before she becomes like her mother. The fact that she left a mark on her child’s face for playing with matches is NOT acceptable. She’s already channeling the same anger that was shown to her and she needs to fix that IMMEDIATELY.

    I know what it’s like to have a violent mother. I relate to the daughter, the only difference is I don’t want a relationship with my mother. Nothing can make me want a relationship with her after the trauma she put me through. She can stay over where she at with all that negativity. The whole ‘she is still my mother’ don’t even run on my end because she don’t know how to be a mother and won’t take accountability for her behaviour. So I have no interest in having a relationship with her because it’s too late.

      THISSSS. I am currently in the same boat. My nan always is telling me let my mum see my son and she's still my mother. No bitch. No "mother" allows her bf to sexually assault me and I'm still gonna run around he he ha ha with her no way ontop of that she didn't believe me and she takes no accountability. She even kicked me and my sister out at the same age mine was worse because I was 18 and pregnant with my son. Mothers like ours deserve nothing but pain

      I’ve been no contact with my female parent for 15 years. She was violent, tried to ruin my credit, and would disparage me to my friends, employers, landlord, and family.

      @@loishanamckenzie3307sorry that you went through this experience. I can relate in some way .... The bond I had with my mother prior to my traumatic experience with her second husband .... Yeah... It's been a day to night experience. Every year after that only getting worse. After learning how to love myself again... I am now learning how to have mercy on her. However, i could forgive but never forget.
      We always accept the love we think we deserve.
      If someone does not care enough to learn how to love you .. Then they simply don't deserve you.
