Personally learning myself, I want to eventually get and do an all motor GSR build and plan on doing cams and valve train and definitely learned a bunch on this video. Thanks!
Awesome video I appreciate the part 2 even tho I’m late to the party. If you make it down to the central coast we have lots of open roads and not enough cops to watch them all. 💪🏾
This is dope dude! Don't trip on the high speed pulls man, very few of us are out there knowing we need to be responsible haha. I feeeeel you on that, i can't wait for the dyno days and stuff. Who tunes your car?
Honda Vlogs ive been talking to edwin at dnr performance in hayward. He seems pretty legit and i hear good things about him. Ultimately i will be tuning my own cars but for now theres a couple things i still need to learn from a pro before i can tackle that. Im hoping to do the all motor tune the weekend after next
oh sick dude! Lemme know when you get tuned maybe i can drop by man! I usually go to Jei at Blacktrax cuz I've known them for so long but i work in Fremont and kick it in hayward all the time.
Honda Vlogs i just looked up blactrax, they seem super legit. How much do they charge for a tune? Looks like there closed on weekends though and thats the only time i have to get it done. Ill definitely let you know when i plan to do it
Not sure on the pricing, they're closed for service most likely. Jei Tunes all the time, but he's been helping a lot with Matt Field and the dudes at the Drift Cave. I would assume they're still tuning on weekends, that's people usual time to get stuff done but it is race season so i'm not sure.
Good videos man glad to see somebody who knows what they are talking about doing videos hope you keep it up and get more subscribers !! Do you have any social media accounts we can follow ?
Hey bro I guessing your in california because you mentioned DNR performance. I have a 97 prelude. I'm thinking about putting in stage 1 cams but I I'm not sure if it will change my emissions. Also, would I have to get it dyno tunned if I use the stock gears?
Skunk2 tuner 1’s are CA CARB compliant. If your going through the trouble of doing cams your going to want to get it tuned to optimize your powerband, but you dont have to. You wont notice much of a gain without a tune though
I don’t think so but i dont know for sure. You can use the zeal auto works compression calculator and select the combination of parts you are questioning and it will tell you piston to deck height
colas solorzano sure, you can clay it but you will have to lock vtec. I have found Zeal autoworks calculator to be pretty accurate, you just have to know if your block deck and head mating surface has been machined and by how much. Search your question on google, there has to be multiple threads on the forums about the setup your asking about
I have a 97 gs non vtech just switched the. Valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets bcuz almost all 4 spark plugs had oil... now the problem is that there’s smoke coming out the tail pipe could it be the oil that got in through the spark plug gasket leak
17_SS_ VERT if the valve cover is leaking into the spark plug hole it shouldnt be able to get past the plug into the combustion chamber. There is a crush washer on the plug that should prevent that from happening. I guess it possible if that washer is bad but if that were the case youd be losing compression as well and would probably notice a power loss. Could also be valve stem seals, head gasket, or worn piston rings
Max Herman yea first I switched the spark plug wires and the spark plugs .. bcuz it had a misfire cylinder 2 but when I took the old spark plugs out they were almost drench with oil .. and I’m thinking when I took the old plugs out the oil got in .. but after replacing the the gaskets and plugs and wires the check engine light went away got power back.. just the smoke out the tail pipe so I was hoping it was the oil got through . The plug gaskets were really bad before I replaced them
The cams i use in this video are tuner 1’s. With pro 1’s you certainly need supporting valve train upgrades. Also if you are all motor, pro 1’s will give you more loss than gain without added compression
Cooper Reid a non vtec head lacks the components needed for vtec to operate, it is much more than just the cam. So even if the cams would fit, there would be no point since non vtec heads dont have the vtec rockers to engage. Will it fit, i dont know because ive never tried. I doubt it though
Max Herman okay so I did some more research. I’m kinda just now taking cars seriously so sorry if I sound like I don’t know what I’m talking ab cause I probably don’t lol but...since I do have the non vtec already, instead of doing a whole engine swap, would you recommend just building an ls vtec with what I have? I currently have 140k on this motor. Or would you trust a remanufactured ls vtec off the internet so I start off with pretty much a brand new motor? The average I’ve seen for them is around $2000. Also my integra is currently automatic, I want manual. Do I need a tranny from a gsr etc. or can I get one for an ls? Does the transmission matter? Let me know when you can thanks!
Cooper Reid i would build my own, but thats me. Pulling your motor to put an already built motor in would be more work than pulling your head off and putting a vtec head on. But It is more than just that so do your research and make sure you know what your getting in to. Both options are fairly difficult operations, especially for a beginner so be prepared for your car to be inoperative for a week or so. As far as an auto to manual swap i have never done one but i can promise you it is not easy. It is much more than just swapping the trans, theres wiring to be done, metal fabrication/modification to the pedal assembly, you need to add the hydraulic components for the clutch master and slave cylinder, all the lines etc. its very involved. I would suggest using your car as a daily driver and looking for a manual to work on instead.

If you want real gains from cams you should bump up your compression ratio too
Awesome video I appreciate the part 2 even tho I’m late to the party. If you make it down to the central coast we have lots of open roads and not enough cops to watch them all. 💪🏾
I need to change my head on my B18C. This comes in handy. Thanks for the videos man 👍
Carlos Brena im glad I could help. Thank you for your support
Great video. I have a gsr and im from the bay area also. I hope i see more videos, they are very helpful for a newbie like me. 🤙🏽
Yea there should be a couple videos coming soon. Just have to find the time to get em done
Also a Gs-R Squid from central CA
Good video brother

Thanks man, so many channels now a days going 120+ mph in the street, gotta grow up sometime
Nice to see you back Max!
I love the info in your videos man keep it up.
Ruperto Newbill I appreciate your support. Thanks!
Bro nice video for real! Good stuff!

Great vid details on point 👍
Ray A thanks! I appreciate your support
Hey man what’s the specs for the valve adjustment.? Great video.! About to finish my lsv can’t wait
.006-.007” IN .007-.008” EX refer to your cam card though, different cams call for different clearances
Amazing content
I have a stock 97itr. Can i install this cams with my stock head?
Hey cool vid. U keep referencing "book", what's the name of the manual and where can I find it
Honda/Acura maintenance manual. You can go to the honda/acura dealer and order one but there expensive. I downloaded mine from the hondaswap forum
Hey man I'm also from the bay area I have a 90 integra are you a mechanic
Hey max. If you drop a ctr pistons in a b18c1. You think that it will be a problem with the valve clearance
I don’t think so but i dont know for sure. You can use the zeal auto works compression calculator and select the combination of parts you are questioning and it will tell you piston to deck height
Max Herman thanks. But maybe in the real work i may have to recheck with clay Right

Not gonna lie the full tank of gas is a flex in 2023..
So stock valve train with pro1 + S2 LMAS ?? I’m bout to do this on my ITR motor.
The cams i use in this video are tuner 1’s. With pro 1’s you certainly need supporting valve train upgrades. Also if you are all motor, pro 1’s will give you more loss than gain without added compression
Any idea if the same camshaft will fit an 01 non vtec ls?
Cooper Reid a non vtec head lacks the components needed for vtec to operate, it is much more than just the cam. So even if the cams would fit, there would be no point since non vtec heads dont have the vtec rockers to engage. Will it fit, i dont know because ive never tried. I doubt it though

They are bigger than type r cams
Hey bro where you based out of ?
Currently Bay Area CA. Originally Hartford CT
Vtec kicked in at 4.5rpm??
Yes
Advance your timing to 18.
Mugennunez ill try. But wont the ecu correct it back to 16 anyway?
Max Herman no just make sure you do it in service mode, makes a difference in the ol butt dyno.
